Knowing how fast brood hatch and grow up ... how much pro-biotic changes does the hive go through over the entire years seasons ? Is there a "spring" pro-biotic that helps old workers transition to new brood for the summer ? And pre-loading the bees with each "seasonal" pro-biotic and off-loading them with a "flush" ? Does anything I said make sense ? 😀 after all I am an armchair "beewatcher" 🤣 keep on truckin' Ian!! 😀

Perhaps! Our focus has been at step one, trying to promote utilization of the nutrients provided. We can simply provide but the trick is it’s utilization processes

As a guy with 4 hives that grew up on a farm keep using that tractor time to keep on thinking, I like the road you’re on. I use your thoughts and processes as an input on mine here in the kawarthas in Ontario.

Winter is about here🥶already started the wood🔥stove.😁
Most young beekeepers don't understand, Winter nests are our most important nests. The 2nd most important nests are all the rest.🤪
Ian the Apis as a feed supplement has made a WORLD of difference in my bees health and their Winter nest this year. And I saw it 1st from you. Thank you for all the work you do Ian, Blessed Days...

For the first time after removal of supers I’ve had huge mite counts, too many to count to be honest! The only thing I can equate it to is due to the warm temps and having supers on I missed one round of Formic!
I installed apivar strips! Then panicked so I purchased apiguard and put the trays on top bars!
My dilemma is I’m not to feed while apiguard is on for two weeks! I’m hoping that I’ll still have enough time to feed up to weight before the weather turns! The struggle is real in regards to mite numbers! Thank you for your insight and keep the content coming we beekeepers appreciate it!

Thank you for your thoughts Ian. Although our seasons are opposite in Australia and my climate is more like Florida, i still enjoy your thoughts on hive management

I have noticed my bee's licking rocks , mainly in the fall. They fly low over my gravel (dirty limestone) land lick and go back to the hive
I have no idea what they are getting but maybe mineral supplements are part of it

I've run into a lot of dismissive reactions but I still suspect the Api Life might reduce your Nosema count. Lol and maybe a bit less shit fronted hives too.

I’d make sure I was well fed and healthy before sitting down in the tractor so that I could wait until I got off the tractor to properly relieve myself :)
