Thanks to KEEN for being the paid sponsors of the video and sending over the KEEN Ridge Flex Mid Waterproof!

Techwear and outdoor gear have a lot in common, and these 7 brands are further blurring the lines by bringing fashion to the forefront of the hiker aesthetic whilst being more interesting and less well-known than the typical hikercore/gorpcore brands like The North Face and Patagonia. This is all clothing which combines cool looks and technical performance, and could definitely be worn as urban techwear as well as on the trails. Now let's get out there and hike happy ⛰

PERSONA 5 OST YEEEE - Хобби
I feel like Antwon is one of the few RUclipsrs who respects and values the audience. No clickbait, straight to the point and entertaining. A perfect example.
You're far too kind 😭 really appreciate it though, just out here trynna make the best videos I can
It's not Antwon actually, it's Akita here :-D
When we needed him most *he returns*
@8:40 lol. "small independent manufacturer" XD that cracked me up!!!
I live in japan and one of the most affordable mountain gear brands that everyone likes is Montbell! I especially like their pants. Thanks for introducing these cool brands
Definitely. It's worth spending a bit more to get the Frost Smoke and similar 800+ fill clothes. And they have a nice cut.
Yes, Montbell is a choice.
Tilak is also another good option and they're certified "techwear" as they used to manufacture acronym's clothing before they moved to China.
Agreed on Tilak for sure - Errolson also consulted on their Poutnik line designed for urban use
@@ThisIsAntwon yeah I've always thougt of poutnik as diet acronym definitely a good cheaper option when on sale
and Snow Peak!! think you've mentioned them before but they are ALL about this look
Congrats on the move Antwon!
Antwon I just wanted to say that I enjoy your videos so much, you do such a great job am always hooked right away from your thumbnails and how you describe things, I really appreciate how you detailed you get. I love it! I keep binge watching your videos haha I really love the techwear world, honestly can't wait to lose weight so I can look better wearing this clothing. Anyway just wanted to say that you are amazing and I absolutely love your content. 🤍
I work in an outdoor shop and we sell a lot of Keen’s!! It’s affordable, great durability, good technical aspects and the company is more and more involved in the esthetic/fashion side of brand! Good video as usual!!
I really enjoy techwear/hiker gear as an avid long distance hiker, my only issue is actually the monocolouring of them, it can be fairly important given the place you are hiking and the time of year, to have some off colouring/bright/neon colouring to avoid getting shot by hunters randomly lol
Personally i just wear navy blue cargo pants, still on the darker end of the scale, but it does the job. There isn't much blue in the forest or mountains.
I understand this .
I was contemplating that NOCTA x NIKE hoody that's about to come out and then this video pops up. That ashfire shell has an even cooler vibe for a lower price. Blessed video saving me money
Glad you mentioned Ashfire, I might pick up a couple pieces from them this Spring!
There is goldwin as well, they owned the north face, HH licence in Japan.
Just realized you put out this video which basically summarized my fashion taste for the past year lol
I haven't upgraded my wardrobe in a handful of years. Landed on this channel since my mindset is more towards practicality over designer stuff lol. This is all good information...
Fun fact about Helly Hansen: Their jackets and overalls used to be the thing for 90s hiphop heads (ca 95? i forget exactly but wu tang was big on them for a bit) and of course you'd get them 2-3 sizes too big.
Fun Fact: I have a HH twin sails XL. Tryna to find a reputable and quality tailor for that. "2-3 sizes too big" isn't for me unfortubnately :)
Well timed video now that the weather’s better for walking (although it’s been my main past time since before C***d-19)
As the owner of hiking poles I swear by ACG and Arc’ gear but Rab, TNF and Fjallraven are all also worth investing in.
I walked 19 miles in my ACG Goretex Nasu trainers, fleece cap and Misery Ridge jacket on Friday. Apart looking like I’d raided an ACG section of Niketown the trainers are really comfortable and the pit zips on my jacket were ideal when the sun came out.
Also did another 12 miles yesterday in my Zeta SL shell and XT-6’s which make walking a breeze. I just need some And Wonder pieces now...
I’m just got two Helly Hansen. One of them with the LIFA material which I think is a nice responsible way of attacking water and wind proofing. The Odin is nice and clean in grey. I was checking out their Aegis stuff and while it looks badass…the price is getting up there also
Comfort Garment has been selling out the past two collections so the word seems to be out on them
Lift with your legs when you move those boxes. Maybe the most tech fit for moving next week? Love the content and will be checking some of these brands out. Haven was new to me, and already love it.
Great video this week 😁 will be checking out a few of these brands.
(also fun fact, your microphone says "red" in danish on it)
Mountain research is a renaming of an earlier label called General Research. Seems to have moved more to the tech wear space since then, but some of the General Research designs were super cool. The Arabic jacket and multiple mini pocket jacket being highlights and precursors to some of the more functional designs they’d do later on as Mountain Research. Would really recommend their earlier stuff to any one interested - comes at a hefty price though as they’re all archive pieces limited to grail! Great T shirts though - I have the prisoner #6 one and it’s a great fit!
Very cool Thank you akita
Antwon how you don't have 100K subscribers that's crazy. Your underated bro
Just wanted to say: i like you
I'd like to know where to buy this kinda style in europe. (In Hungary we have +27% tax, which means if a garment is 200 usd shipped I'd have to pay 254usd+customs)
Check out Mout Recon Tailer! Never seen them available outside of Japan 😭😭
Jack Wolfskin is an underrated brand and they have a more techwear aesthetic focused line
What’s that line called?
@@dismiggo wolfskin tech lab i think
Interesting!
Cool af
Antwon is that mic you’ve got now tech wear approved too?
I just want to know why you are moving and how is the apartment renting situation currently in the UK?
Please keep the company name subtitle up during the entire segment incase we miss it when it first pops up. Otherwise great vid.
5:33 What is the Grey Jacket he is wearing under the black one??
5:29 for Ashfire, I'm more interested in that gray hooded jacket that was under the guy's black jacket. I don't see it as one of their brands on enshadower. Does anyone know what that one is?
Do u think reindeelusion worth the price for those hardshell jackets
I wanted Adidas FYW XTA SAND!!!, but missed out
This man dresses in categories
My favorites are Norrøna and Fjällräven
Both v solid brands!
No snow peak?
Nilmance and Snow Peak
Can a hoodie be techwear
Time to self-innovate and buy some hair clippers! How badly can it go, it'll grow back :)
and Wander is ok if you can find it on sale but not worth anywhere near retail.
What do u think of "UNIDEN"?
Had my eyes on Helly Hansen for a long time now. They've got some really interesting pieces for sure!
💯
You are so cool
how could you not like this guy. love you antwon, your love and passion are remarkable.
What is your take on Descente Allterain?
They have some cool stuff! Have seen some great steals on some of their gear in the past too. There are quite a few Descente lines which I can't remember the names of as well
@@ThisIsAntwon Yeah my biggest problem is alwazs sizing. i am more on the xxl to xxxl side and most brands only have XL sizing ... could you make a vid about XXL techwear?
487 likes and 0 dislikes. that’s amazing
check out hiking patrol for brands
Love the meanswhile stuff, cant find that bomber though! Annoyingly the advert for this video is for a company selling shitty like the items you featured in your “don’t spend $80 on these” video. The irony...
Cant wait to wear my 1000$ techwear fit just to be kicked out of every mall
Strange how Mountain Research is expensive streetwear while Outdoor Research is affordable hiking wear.
Nobody told me Doctor Strange had a YT channel
I’m big foot
He has like anime, emo boy hair but it doesn’t look bad
I like these styles, but as an actual outdoorsman, most of this stuff wouldnt be as useful as more conventional outdoor clothing. Theres nothing wrong with that, but i disagree that much of this is would be more/as usefull as normie outdoor gear like Carhart or Duluth. Duluth is definitely the top of the top inoutdoor gear functionality imo
TRy wearing that shit in the Highlands of Scotland, it will get wet and you will die.
I don't think you mentioned Cayl from South Korea who do some cool stuff in this style. Apologies if you did and I missed it!
love you man you make great content but lets not act like those keens aren't ugly af. Those are not it .
Mountain Research maybe the oldest brand here. They called General Research back in 90s. They known for the all over the place multipocket memeable grailed piece. And they have anarcho-communism tendency too with Marx and Bakunin quote and what not which for me is fascinating.
I won't recommend Ashfire.. didn't have a good customer experience from them. The product is definitely not as you see on the picture. There's no description on everything. You're just gonna have to guess wth is that item made off..
Okay on a real note for everyone here including Antwon--do you honestly go through your day to day life wearing this stuff? I actually like the look, tbh...but, I work in an academic lab--it would come off absolutely ridiculous to walk in to a room of peers with overtly crazy looking cargos and 18 pockets on my jacket. Do any of you have any advice on how to actually incorporate techwear into daily life for individuals who have to maintain some decorum of "normalcy"? Even outside of work...despite liking the stand-out looks, I really feel uncomfortable standing out THAT much; I think here in the southern US, everyone's radar will go up just walking into a public place like this...best case they will be like WTF...worst case they will think you're a mass shooter.
My sort of bastadized "tech" inspired look is essentially: more subtle cargos or waterproof pant, the exact same plain uniqlo crew t-shirt (I have maybe 10 of the same plain t), and some sort of interesting techish looking sneaker or yeezy.
You're after "Greyman" techwear. Veilance and Outlier are the two main brands making clothing in that style, Lululemon also offer multiple pieces and Arcteryx mainline do subtle urban centric clothing too. Enfin Leve although more on the avant garde side can make custom pants in dryskin for you, the ameztu pants look great in most settings for example.
First?
Not quite 😏
Kept waiting for you to put that big black thing you're holding in your mouth antwon.
*very disappointed*
Not my type of wear. The RUclips algorithm brought me here, but my first impression as a normie is that all these outfits make you look like you're cosplaying. Honestly they're cringy.
