I think words like “overrated” get thrown around when people don’t know how to explain how they feel about something. Similarly to people using the phrase “it’s not subtle” to discredit something. I remember hearing that word a lot when I watched reviews of Joker, and it seems like people use “subtle” as a placeholder for “better” (which is not really what subtle means). This video is a pretty good reminder that words start to lose meaning when we just throw them around and not explain our perspective on things. Nice work George.

Also I find it funny for the people calling The Joker "Overrated" when they say that The Dark Knight Trilogy is in leagues better despite being a TRILOGY & that those movies get way so much praise as well it's like they don't see their own Irony and Comparison.

I'm glad you mentioned The World's End. It's one of my favorite movies, and everyone talks about the other 2 installments in the Cornetto trilogy, and I think it deserves just as much credit

To me joker is an enjoyable movie but I wouldn’t say it’s a masterpiece especially when you watch the film but the hate can be toxic for sure .Never saw the kung fu Panda trilogy as underrated considering its popular from dreamworks .I would probably mention a least talked movie from the studio like megamind
I don’t think halo is overrated but first person shooters have evolved a lot since then, while something can be revolutionary for it’s time it will slowly lose what made it great. For example pong was revolutionary and good for its time, but if you make me play pong today I will get bored in the first 2 minutes.

Here are my problems with the word overrated. 1. The term overrated is (I find funny enough) overrated. 2. I hate when people use the word to describe something that is said to have good quality to describe it as bad (depending on the person). 3. When people say overrated (or even underrated) in general I really think they mean over recommended. After all what is a movie review or word of mouth? A form of recommendation telling someone weather or not they should or shouldn't see a movie and depending on the movie. It can still have good quality but maybe the movie is just talked about to much. For example I think Avengers: End Game is over recommended. Do I think it's bad, no I still think it's a good movie just didn't think it was as amazing as everyone else made it out to be.
I think something being overrated is a fair criticism. If everyone regards a new film or game as the best thing ever, you're going to expect it to be just that, but there is no objectively best film ever (except The Godfather of course) so you're always going to be let down. Although, I suppose it would be more accurrate to call something overhyped instead of overrated.
As said in the video, calling a product overrated isn't fair against the product because it would still be the same quality regardless of the hype surrounding it

I actually used to really like end game until it was advertised to death and treated as the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ, both of these movies are horribly written dribble that should be forgotten about. And both of these movies have only soured my opinion of the avengers.
About Halo, its safe to say that H3 is probably the most overhyped game ever, since the game didnt introduced any new gameplay change except for some itens, and had a short, inconsistent, edgy, plot-hole filled campaign. "Were should they go? To war." Dude, that is cringe asf. And when i first played ODST, i was so hyped. I heard that ODST "was so f*cking good", "immersive", "same level as reach"... then i played and became totally dissapointed with the game, since the campaign isnt really that good, beyond the atmosphe/soundtrack and semi open-world map, everything else about the campaign is pretty meh in my opinion.

Bungie always said that Halo 2 would be the conclusion, since it was always the plan to put the maximum effort to close Halo CE story in Halo 2, so when they could not finish Halo 2, Halo 3 is more like the Halo 2.5 of the saga, since, has gone against the main bungie philosophy that never repeat themselves with every game, but H3 has less estructure differences then every other halo with their predecessors. Moved by the critical sucess of Halo, the boom of online play, popularity of video gaming, the alignment of Halo thematic with US military country in the apex of war on terror, its REALLY safe to say that most people werent even Halo fans until Halo 3 was released. So most pleople joined the hype train, independent of their personal feelings or mainly independet about their actual experience with the franchise or the game, just why everyone was doing so. And by reasons the hype and mass moviment/opinion, my point is, the HYPE cam totally define peoples opinion, independent of their experience with the game or how much they actually care about halo, as long as they think the same as the mass.
