tbh this sendoff far exceeds jhud’s not to be shady but it just is so touching because Ms Heather is a broadway LEGEND and did Shug every bit of justice. jhud’s sendoff was extremely touching because of Prince’s memory and god bless that performance, but this was a gift to the cast, Heather, and the audience 💖

She did better than J. Hud as Shug in my opinion. Heather knew Celie or Ms. Erivo was the star and she complimented her, not tried to over power her. She blended and acted to tell the story.

I’m an atheist so I don’t believe or go to church but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate wonderful singing and music/shows like this! Heather has always been a fave and Cynthia is also just perfect! Such a lovely moment!! (Btw what was the significance of the purple box at the end? I’m assuming it was supposed to be like a church offering but instead of money it was love and thank you notes??)
