    After shooting for 50 years now, I finally came across a great deal on an old but expensive in its day international trap gun, with what looked like ridiculous amount of cast at face and toe since I’m used to not having any. Man what a difference! Being pretty much standard size I’ve always been able to get anything to work without even noticing but when you finally try something that actually fits without bending around it, well it’s eye opening is all I can say. 👍🏼

    This is a fine series of videos, I have a lot to check now on my shotgun fit.
    Thank you for your help.

    Thank you for this great advice.
    I’ve been trying to work out how to control that twist and flip.
    Stay well.

    Good video. An adj butt pad would help nicely in this thought

    Recently purchased a SxS that has a cast off stock (Merkel). I’m a right handed shooter, and never shot with anything but a straight stock. Been shooting pretty poorly with it. Does this butt plate/pad adjustment act as way to neutralize the cast off. Essentially making it straight?

      @@alanebright938 Cast at the toe is more used to fix canting of the gun as it will sit the recoil pad in a better position in your shoulder pocket. Cast at the comb, or lack of it, will directly effect the accuracy of the shotgun

    It seems to me that everybody not canting the gun is doing so at the expense of having their eyes canted instead - meaning eyes being non-horizontal with left eye higher than the right eye for right handed shooters. I have an issue with eye dominance wich makes it absolutely a must to have my eyes horizontal, or else I will shoot high when the left eye sometimes takes over on some angles (left eye is higher and it sees the barrel as being low, wich makes me lift the barrel and shoot over), so I cant the gun and have the eyes horizontal and that works great. I don't understand the issue with canting the gun, because that does not affect your pattern more than if you shot a side-by-side, wich is virtually nothing ?

      The greatest problem you may face with cant is when you need a really fast second barrel, like you do in events like Olympic trap. if you haven't set your gun up correctly the effects of the recoil can make the shotgun want to "straighten" therefore pushing your head off the stock. In events like ATA Singles, canting the gun wont have quite the same negative impact

    I’m late to the party here, but I typically require a good bit of cast. Is it difficult to add cast to a B525?

    • @GoShooting
      @GoShooting  7 месяцев назад

      No harder than any other shotgun. If it has an adjustable comb then it’s simple.

      Should be easy for an experienced gun fitter🍻

    Being LH then it would follow that I cant the plate to the left? Or does one experiment with location?

    • @GoShooting
      @GoShooting  Год назад +1

      It really depends on why you are canting the gun. Most people (left or right handed) cant the gun inwards to cater for a lack of cast in their stock, cast at the toe can help this issue

      Se stai guardando il lato sinistro della canna e presumi di avere il cast corretto nel pettine, prova ad aggiungere il cast sulla punta. Se il cast sul pettine è corretto, fai il contrario se guardi in basso sul lato destro della canna
