- In this video Olympic Gold Medallist Russell Mark explains the term of getting over the gun. It is a technique that many Olympic Trap, Skeet and Sporting shooters adopt to keep their face and body "glued" to their shotgun's stock when shooting faster and wider angled targets.

Go Shooting is owned and operated by Olympic Gold Medallist Russell Mark and his wife Lauryn Mark, a two time Olympian and triple Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist.
I now know why the Olympic Shooters get over the gun. Thanks for the advice. Mounting the gun up is a good idea.
Now THAT explains why some of the shooters at the club mount with the gun up and bring it down. I had no idea. Secret knowledge!!!!
Tank you for the advice I shoot down-the-line I will give it a try next Saturday You and your family keep safe
Thanks Mr. Marks, I really enjoy your sage instruction here in Kentucky, USA.
You are very welcome
Thank you for your generosity in sharing this advice. Great channel!!
My pleasure!
Awesome, thanks Russell 👍👍
No problem 👍
Ive been shotgun hunting and trap and skeet shooting for probaly 50 years... do pretty well, no fancy guns. just the same gun i hunt with (Remington 1100)... i dont miss much... but im sure theres always something new to learn. I learned from my father he was the best (to me anyway). Olympics shooters are in another world and are successful from repetition and professional coaching...Kimberly Susan Rhode is a perfect example - how great she is... most of us dont get that... thanks for the tips, ill try - see how they work.
Happy to read your comments. Good luck

Please do a similar video for DTL and ATA trap shooters on keeping the head up and bring gun up. Thanks!!
Good video.
Great advise. Thank you. From UK .
You're very welcome
Nice video
Good video Russell - the content is very good; however, please get rid of the background music - it is not necessary and very distracting, making it difficult to listen to you. Thanks for the video!
Is that an SO5 ?
Don’t you think an International Trap shooter could walk on to Trap, Skeet, International Skeet, Sporting Clays, Five Stand with a Low Rib O/U 30 inch barrels and be as competitive as anyone ? As well as a Great Field shot.
Yes 100%, there have been world champions in each of the disciplines you have named using 30” flat rib o/u’s
