    Another excellent video - well done. The simultaneous footage with your left foot in the corner is very clever! I am not considering a quickshifter for mine, although after decades working on bikes I acknowledge their advantages. I will say that an accelerated rate of wear on the selector forks and gear 'dogs' is inevitable, as for a slipper clutch, but you are right in thinking that would be over extended mileage. I am over 20,000 kms on mine (about 12,500 miles) here in rural South Australia, but most owners won't do that many miles in a year, so the gearbox wear is a moot point for most owners.
    My reasoning for declining the quickshifter option relates to my having several bikes registered, and the desire to keep them as similar as possible to operate. The 'headspace' I seek when riding isn't enhanced by having to keep remembering which one I am on! The Honda's odd-one-out blinker switch the perfect example of where this doesn't happen. I went from doing the occasional inadvertent beep on the Honda, to then doing the same mistake on the other bikes, as I am riding the Honda more now. It is just that easy to use, and is kept in a more accessible spot than the others...
    But keep up the videos - you are good at them. Very clear, well sequenced, and pleasant to watch and listen to. And keep enjoying your Transalp. I described mine as a bike "I enjoy more than I expected to', and that remains the case. They're not perfect, but are very easy to live with, and the economy is amazing. Not so much related to cost, but more to range. I live quite a distance from a fuel outlet, and the 400 km range (tank filled to the brim) is indispensable here.

      Hello, thank you very much, I really appreciate the feedback and you taking the time to type the above 😊
      Wow! That’s a lot of miles. Most riders won’t do that in 5 years, never mind 1. I presume it’s your primary mode of transport?
      I completely understand your point of wanting to keep the bikes similar, I rode a different bike a few weeks back and kept pressing the horn at every junction and turn we hit 😳 When I got back on my bike, I did the same 😂.
      And thank you! I’m really happy you are enjoying my videos. Again I appreciate the feedback.
      I absolute love this bike! It’s absolutely brilliant 😊

      @@TyresNTorque Yes the Honda is becoming my main vehicle, although I still have the old Cagiva registered, and the Ducati, but I feel less likely to get booked for speeding on the Honda than the Ducati, and the Honda is just more relaxing than the (5-speed only) Cagiva. I have done well over 100,000 kms on the Ducati, but don't risk it so much down here, as losing my licence would be a drama in this isolated place.
      I also have a car, but that is mainly for carrying heavy/large loads, and wet weather. Not that we have much rain here - it is a very dry place, and this has been an unusually dry year. But the car is a V8, so the economy doesn't compare to the Honda! Just back from a 100 km round trip, in perfect, still and sunny conditions, and the average fuel was at 3.7L/100 when I got home, after mostly 100 kmh, with quite a bit of 110 kmh along the way. The smooth ride on the Honda in great conditions, with no traffic, is hard to beat.
      Keep up the videos - they are deservedly getting a good response.

    I did think of installing a quickshifter on my TA but decided against it after riding both a Hornet and TA demo machine which both had them fitted. It works well enough but given that the clutch and gearbox are so light and easy to shift it seemed like an over indulgence. On the otherhand I think they are perfect for sports bike especially if you're a track day fan. I bought heated grips instead :)

      I agree, the gear box and clutch are so light and easy to use on the Transalp, but I do love the quick shifter. It’s so much fun to use and smooth.
      The heated grips are fantastic on the Transalp in my opinion. I like how they are so easy to use and integrated into the bike.

    Bought mine as the addon option on by 2024 TA and its blinding. Form it feels best in "Sport" mode but that is true for the bike in general. Again just my opinion. Medium / Medium settings. 2000+ miles later and still think is was a good addon. You can use the clutch normally if you wish but is a must in first for stopping and pulling away.

      Hi Dave, It’s a great piece of kit to have on the Transalp. I love it! It would be great for the QS to be standard on the Transalp.
      I too have mine set to medium / medium, although I plan on having a play around with the soft and hard settings soon. From what I have noticed so far though there isn’t a huge difference.
      Out of interest why do you prefer sport mode?

    • @DavesPhotoUK
      @DavesPhotoUK 19 дней назад +1

      @@TyresNTorque Sport mode seems to free the bike up. Standard, which I have had on since buying it, in comparison, holds it back.
      Sport seems to open the power more, and I have to relearn all my speeds to the engine sound again. I added 10 to 15% speed with the same engine sound. The QS seems to feel better also, but it is still set as Medium. Soft was too flimsy, and hard made my left foot hate me.

      @TyresNTorque  19 дней назад +1

      @@DavesPhotoUK Ahh ok, thank you. I wondered if it was down to the power or the engine braking and traction control settings. I guess it’s a combination of everything.
      I usually use standard, I don’t really touch sport to be honest. Although I should use it as it’s pointless in having it otherwise 😂
      It would be nice for all of the settings to be adjustable instead of only being able to adjust user. Maybe this will change in the future 🙏

    I’ve had my TA since August. I have the QS but tbh don’t really use it, I understand how it works and have tried it many times but honestly I could live without it so in the interests of balance to those owners without one, don’t overthink it. BTW a I love this bike. I have also tried an aftermarket slip on but went back to the stock pipe, it sounds better in my opinion and has a lovely tone. Clutch is light, gearbox sweet. Spend the money on heated grips, they are terrific.

      @@TyresNTorque Hi, I did look into it seriously but couldn’t really find any brand that could convince me there were any performance gains worth having (maybe even making things worse, mess up fuelling) and sound clips are never really that helpful. Yoshimura was one I seriously considered but it’s very expensive for like 1 extra bhp and ….I don’t know just thought…nah. So I went for a Black Widow. TBH build quality was really good and it looked nice. Tried both with & without db killer. Sound is completely different. Louder, more ‘thuddy’. It drowns out all of the other engine, gearbox, road whine sounds you hear. Saved about 1kg in weight. However, with the db killer out when I revved the bike out (say 6-8k rpm’s zone) it felt slightly wooly and not quite right. So, I put the stock back on. It sounds nicer, pulls cleanly at all revs, it is what it is. Don’t let me put you off, you do what you want. Bear in mind mine is a UK bike and not strangled like the US version. Hope this helps.

    the main advantage of a QS for road riding is when there's a lot of rider input required. Example, going down a steep hill, approaching a hair pin, a situation where one needs to break hard with the front and rev match at the same time, properly to not skid the already unloaded rear. Also, upshifting under hard acceleration is really fun :)) That being said I still use conventional shifting also because if I QS during a full day of riding, my ankle will hurt. It takes more force to QS vs conventional shifting, at least on my bike.

I could go list all the things I like but I will end up writing a page probably. Hi everyone, thank you for your comments, to answer some of your questions above…
      - Sometimes there is a little kick but nothing significant, generally it’s very smooth particularly on the downshift. I have been very happy with how smooth it is.
      - I found that the bike as a whole got smoother the more I rode it. So I would guess and say yes - it may improve as you cover a few more miles 🙏
      - Higher in the rev range can help but you do not need to be above a certain rpm level to use the QS (as long as it’s not close to tick over) There just needs to be load on the motor and it will shift. I have found though that more gentle load at lower rpm helps with shifting smoothly at lower rpm
      I hope this helps 😊
