IT WORKS! After dozen of ROMs flashing, chats with Xiaomi support, hundred of forums (english, chinese and russian), I couldn't find a solution. Regardless if you have unlock permission or not you might have error at 50% saying "couldn't verify device". This method worked like a charm. I urge everyone to give it a try, it's fastest way and so far the best.

Teffy Sam I was on 7.3 something (stable). I feel this method seems pretty safe as you're unlocking device and not tampering with rom or boot loader itself. I'd say give it a try. And look for CM13 rom and how to flash from root junky channel. I have been using it from 3 weeks, super stable!
+Sudarshan Poudel I'm on cyanogenmod after unlock. Why would you need to unlock if you still want ota. And ROMs are available pre-OTA, so nothing to worry about even if unlocked.
For all confused guys like myself : These are the files you are supposed to flash: Browse too flashall.bat in Fastboot ROM folder at First option, Third option to prog_emmc_firehose_8976_ddr.mbn , then last two options browse to rawprogram0.xml and patch0.xml

i did the same as shown in the Video , step by step after booting it showed No sim card also wifi did not worked and also typing oem devices info fastboot command showed failed.

Ash, can you make video with CAMERA ONLY REVIEW, but with some other 3rd party software than official Xiaomi camera app? For example Camera FV-5, which is one of the best in my opinion. Camera is the worst downside of this phone, and I do think that this app probably can help.

Used this method.Would request all to proceed with CAUTION! There are a few things missing here and there.Followed this blindly in hope to move from 8.0.5.0 to latest dev with help of unlock.Got failed flash attempts and was stuck in EDL mode.My issue was that I had to use Mi Flash beta since my PC was Win 7 32 bit.Luckily since I was experienced in flashing previous devices ,I spent 4-5 hours reading various threads on miui site and a few comments here as well, I was able to unbrick my phone after 4 flashes. Tried it but it goes wrong with ADB.exe, does not see any devices. Now i look at my devicelist in control panel, i see redmi note 3 and a unknow device. When i manually change the unknow to androind ADB device, it shows up but after a reboot i see the device is NOT started! Tried do disable the redmi note 3 and enable the ADB device driver but it will not start... so i am stuck
