At 4:59. "And make people think we're some kind of prostitutes." In my native greek language it sounded so much better. We laughed and laughed. Its the best line in the film. Well done ladies.

This would make a great full length co.medy with a bit of sadness intertwined.
Yeah like from the drama of Eric losing his wife maybe due to a grave illness or an accident..

Κυρίως Αίσχος πού το κράτος δεν βοηθάει τους εναπομειναντες κατοίκους αλλά τους κόβει κ βασικές παροχές όπως γιατρό μανάβη καλά Μην πω γι ασθενοφόρα κ νοσοκομεία.
Αυτή είναι η αλήθεια μάς.

I live in Cyprus. This is Cyprus exactly the same thing.
The Greek dialogue to me sounds wierd to me, I speak with Cypriot dialect, as you know it's very different.
....because they are Greeks too!
@@peteroreilly8060 It's a matter of local dialect....like in Crete, Ipirous, Macedonia or Aegean and Ionian sea ilands.
@peteroreilly8060 I doubt it. It's different yes but for a Greek Cypriot no way it sounds weird. Unless you don't know what weird means. Are you from Cyprus or England?
I really like this movie! The characters are perfect and the storyline is so nice and elegant. I wish there was a transcript of the Greek speaking parts somewhere, so that I could read it and speak the Greek parts with the characters. Thanks @linguatree for recommending this movie to watch :)
What a Κρίμα there is no Greek subtitles.
I loved this short film, Well done.
I visited my grandpa's village of Lafkos, and it seemed there were more people in the cemetery than living. We could not find our great grandparents' graves, but there was an earthquake some time in the past, and families who could afford to, moved their ancestors' remains to the new cemetery. God bless my cousins in Lafkos and Melina, and honor to my great grandparents George and Harikleah.

Charming open hearted tragic to reality as the young people leave their villages and go to the larger cities for employment. The humour has a lot of depth to it. I love this film. It is the first Greek film I have searched for as I am learning Greek

That’s a very nice short film, however there is no such thing as a population limit below which you are cut off from essential services. It does make a premise of an interesting story, but the truth is that any village no matter how remote even with only one person living there, there will be some sort of providing services.

I'm not sure you're correct about that.. I think they're restrictions on privileges in villages....
like no school teacher, doctor, priest etc..

Yes it's in Laconian Mani. Abandoned village of Vathia. Very well known in the area.

Λουλουδάτος είναι αυτος που έχει λουλούδια, όπως μυρωδάτος είναι αυτός που έχει/βγάζει μυρωδιές. Τα λουλουδάκια είναι υποκοριστικό του λουλούδια. Δεν ειναι διαλεκτος, χρησιμοποιείται γενικά.

This is nothing to admire. This is a sell out of a short film. Usually when people sell themselves and their culture they do it quietly, in alleys. They are poor but honest.

...είναι λυπηρό καί έν κατακλείδι υπήρξε καί καταστροφικό γιά τήν παράδοση, τήν γλώσσα, τά ήθη καί τά έθιμα μας τό γεγονός ότι εγκαταλείψαμε τήν ελληνική μας ύπαιθρο καί τήν μεθώριο Ελλάδα. Αυτό πληρώνουμε τώρα. Στή ζωή όμως πολλά είναι αναστρέψιμα 😊

There's a lot of truth in this film the Greek people are very similar to the characters in the movie
It is an idyllic type of life and I think the movie captures the essence of that
The filmology the way the scenes are portrayed is artistic and I complement the cameraman and camera Director

So lovely
My village in a mountain in Kefalonia, the bus stopped coming. The bus passes through the next village at 6 in the morning to go to the capital and 3 in the afternoon to return from there. As in this film, there are more people in the cemetery than in the village and that's why there are no shops.
Ι am from Kefalonia too! If you live in a village and you don't own a car there is no way to go to hospital in case you need it!

This is such a delight! The script, the direction, the cinematography, the actors! Each aspect of this little jewel is brilliant. I must have watched it at least 10 times and have sent this link to many others to enjoy. The dialogue, the action is timed to perfection, not a word too much or two little; the three old women switching from black to colors that they realized they actually enjoyed, to the prospect of the couple pondering increasing the population themselves! Little movements meant so much more. Just a warm, wonderfully delightful film by a brilliant and truly gifted filmmaker and script writer. I can't praise this enough.
