Matt Lowne
(Possibly) SSTO to Eloo with R.A.P.I.E.R. and "Dawn" Ion engine
Might be a challenging mission to do a no mining Tylo ssto.
I'd love to see the 4 original Kerbals dropped into the sun... for science of course! Thanks!
Matt Lowne I think the Stratolauncher will be more successful.
Make a Falcon 9 challenge!
You're crazy into detail. I was watching some of your Expedition Eve videos and realized that you worked a few historical audio tracks into it but backwards. Pretty nice.
Real life mimicked KSP and KSP then mimicked real life.
except no kraken
And no Lag
and green shitty creatures named kerbals
Nah, Jeb Da badass is an exception, (crashlands onto moho and still gets back)
And 15% the struts.
1:28 "...about seventy to eighty thousand meters."
Goddamn!
I came down to the comments expecting to see more about that. I guess we're the only ones who noticed. 8-)
Aaron Felsenfeld Yeah I thought I was the only one who saw it, nobody else commented
I can only clock 20k wand I have to be traveling at mach 2 to keep my nose up!
hey Matt I have a challenge make an all terrain vehicle (Meaning air land sea space) and it has to be stock as well and being an SSTO
Space and Air aren't terrains.
A small Lowne of a million dollars Amazing username
Cypren Thanks
That's not very hard. A Mk. II SSTO, with a bit of modification, can land on water.

You should make a flying command center. It can hold a science jet, science car, and science boat. All of these should fit inside this mobile command. I haven't really seen anyone make something like this. Keep in mind it drops the science things and then the science things comeback to the mothership. You could also make an interplanetary mothership that can bring many payloads to other planets.
fun fact... i was working on a stratolaunch system when i looked over on my phone to see you uploaded this.
I love flying to minmus, I have landed and re docked using only rcs thrusters on my lander. I'm a noob, but love the game.thanks for all your effort and explanations! Keep up the good work!
keith wilkinson if you can land , you are not an noob! I cant land but i can achieve stable orbit aroun mün and i will try to land.
I have only sent an unmanned landing mission to Eve, with 2 small one way landers and a nuclear powered mothership.
awesome video as always! I really hope they add ways in stock ksp to pilot both parts of the ship after decoupling... maybe just an autopilot that could make the plane part follow a heading and an altitude, you coul tell it o turn around and head for 270 degrees while you finish putting the rocket into space and then come back to the ship and land it manually. Or the autopilot could be set to circle around KSC at a given altitude and a given radius to make sure the plane don't pass KSC or something like that.
That calls for multiplayer, two cockpits and pilots. Drop payload, separate the two hulls and land them independently for easier landings :)
Yea there is a mod for that
Your videos really impress me and I really hope one day to be as good as you on KSP, keep on going !
That was awesome. I love the Approaching Nirvana music, too.
Father worked on some of the parts for the stratolaunch vehicle, so this naturally caught my attention
FMRS mod does the trick very well, you can revert back to the separation point and recover a stage
That is one of the coolest and most interesting way to launch rockets that I have ever seen
Damn, well done again for a awesome craft!
EJ_SA was trying to make one of these in stock too, this is a nice looking craft, Matt!
That radio-style bass though 👌
Yup this aircraft is a rare and can lauch a freacking rocket!!! NANI. Your the best rare man and creative man i ever seen so
Hey, Matt! I challenge you to build an Eve surface-return SSTO, capable of flying from Kerbin to Eve and returning from the surface. I don't think anyone else has done this before.
Please like so he can see this.
No one has done it because it's nearly impossible.
NOTHING is impossible for MATT LOWNE!
Oh... SSTO - Single stage to ORBIT - I thought you meaned fully recoverable
I did mean fully recoverable. But that is Expert Mode.
Bradley whistance
you CAN do this in KSP. You have to use scramjet with intercoolers, so that when you park in the orbit, the stratolauncher will be still above 20km altitude, which means you can switch to and land it.
Hey, Matt. I have a challenge for you.Get a Kerbal from Low Kerbin Orbit to the Mun (you don't have to return, you can use a rescue ship) with no rocket. Oh, and I have done this, so it is not impossible. You need to use a thruster to launch the Kerbal into a Mun encounter and then use the EVA fuel to safely orbit it, and if you have any fuel left, try to land. No cheats are allowed. Have fun.
matt, use stock propellers to make a hover base for jool that can travel from jool to laythe and back
Wow, Cinematic Stratolauncher
As far as reusable 1st stages, you forgot to mention that Blue Origin has its New Shepard suborbital vehicle, which is a conventional rocket as far as launch is concerned, but recovers the booster stage the same way SpaceX does. Blue Origin also has New Glenn up and coming, which is a full orbit class rocket and a recoverable 1st stage.
Good one, Matt! And if you want something for next film, there is my idea: Bulid the stock Concorde or Tupolev Tu-144 flying on Laythe, Eve or Duna (whatever you want). It won't has to bring a lot of passangers, the only one kerbal in this can be a pilot, it hasn't to have a stock moving cocpit (or stock moving front control surfaces, if Tu-144) or afterburns, but there is a one, but pretty imporant note: to bulid this, you will must use a parts only from stock KSP 1.0! But I belive, that you can do it! ;)
P.S.: if that ,,one of the vieves with with polish nickname" was me, I'm sooooo happy (if not: ok, I don't care)!
nice to see it work without being blown up on launch
AN-225 Mriya - is Ukrainian, it was developed and constructed in Antonov aircraft facility in Kyiv.
i think that the company that operates the AN-225 is also ukrainian.
ukraine is russian territory
Lol, as soon as I heard that An-225 is Russian I knew there is khokhol somewhere in comments.
Dabesyet your mom is russian territory
Gotta love those strato launch, though mine is designed to destroy enemy building. Stick some engine on the rocket then drop it on those kerbal building. What a sight
And THEEEEEN! The stratolauncher gets lost in the kermuda triangle. I found that out, when I made a test with my Spaceship Two replica in KSP.
Lol the funny thing is, Boeing is making one....
it mean more competition, it's good
Orbital ATK already has one.
Hey Matt Could you try to a fully Reusable rocket like SpaceX to build a space station or launch a satellite constellation
I try to make "exact copy". With the wings and engines as was shown on photo. That was a scary flight. I managed to get to air, but control and keep it in air was very difficult. Well we will see soon, as the first flught will be in 2018.
I noticed in the last 3 or maybe 4 vids that your saturation is off at least on my side. I noticed it first on the navball and now also on the kerbals faces. Maybe you should look into it.
I know you wanted to make this 100% stock but if anyone wants a mod that lets you land the plane without having to save and load use FMRS
Sweet man! :D
Great Work!!!
I use a customized stratolaunch with THREE cockpits to launch my payload shuttle, after detaching it uses a custom program to land back at the KSC
So british that the cockpit was on the right side of the craft.
That is like the most impractical airplane design, *Ever.*
Awesome representation!
Hi!
I've had an idea of a kind of modular SSTO (just a stage with motors, the other stages just fuel) in a linear design that is able to bring 20 kermans to Duna with a cost of 250k aprox.
I could send you the design for you to improve it if you want :)
Watching this right after the successful Space-X recovery!
P-38 Lightning (Or DH.96 Mosquito for the British) with a rocket instead of cockpit and cockpits instead of propellers.
You could probably see this an effective way of building a space station
Or stick 2 astroids together for a really big mining station or shipyard and refuelling facility in space like a forward base for kolonyships and exploration
One pretty major point: Stratolaunch won't be carrying rockets that large at any point in the foreseeable future. Originally they planned to use a 5-engine variant of Falcon 9, then later said they'd be launching a new rocket from Orbital ATK called Pegasus II. That turned out to be too expensive, so now they're planning to launch a trio of Pegasus XL rockets. More than slightly underwhelming.
Hey Matt, have you heard about the "theoretically" next major KSP update and it being acquired by take two?
What are your thoughts on these? I found it kinda interesting but I think you will like some of the new proposal stock parts
i find this concept about 10,000x better than landing a reusable lowerstage on a barge
"quiet an easy place to get to" and i'm sitting here having problems to get a good Orbit ( ._.)

@@KSPAtlas Lol 3 years later... now i need to start playing again lol
I worked for Stratolaunch, its not their first go at this. Stratolaunch is an offshoot of scaled composites, when I say offshoot, its literally the same people working under Paul G Allen's flag. By that I mean, Stratolaunch's hangar is built next door to Scaled composites, its the same engineers +some new talent, the same workforce +new talent, heck, even Burt Rutan had a huge influence in the design process. Stratolaunch "contracts" scaled composites for all the composite bits that need to be made. What does that all mean? Well, scaled composites has done this on a smaller scale, with beautiful composite aircraft such as White Knight one and two. If anything, they have an advantage over spaceX. I've been to SpaceX's facilities as well, and its like comparing an automobile art studio, to an actual auto manufacturer. One is dreaming of what they can build using the latest ideas/child like dreams (SpaceX), and the other is applying current theory with new ideas to evolve and actually produce a prototype for testing, and man it is huge. It is the worlds largest composite (mainly tons of hand laid carbon fiber) and experimental aircraft at this point. With 6 engine from a Boeing 747, 3 sets of rear landing gear, and two front from the same.
This reminds me a lot of what Virgin Galactic and Virgin Orbit are working on right now
Ha said that and you actually mentioned it in the video lol
Nice vid!!!, btw. in my language the name of the craft ''Strata'' sounds veeeeery similar to a word ztrata which means loss
I saw this sort of thing on the news!
Well you could just use probe cores or more kerbals for the flight back
*when matt plant his flag* I: God, save the Queen!
What happened to the "Dune 3" or 3 seat Duna mission?
It was one of my favorite videos....
Hey Matt if you put 2 cockpits then you could have more SAS controll
From 2020... SpaceX is kicking ass so far.
Hello, thanks for the great uploads.I have a rookie question. Which mods do I need for starting KSP or do I need any mods?
you should make a replica of the concorde plane
can you do a tutorial for making a shuttle cus like I have seen Scott Manley's but wanna see how u would do it
Great video as always! What graphics mods do you use?
scatterer + EVE
AMAZING!
You should build a all you need space ship with everything you need to travel in space a survive
You can have a ultimate survival vechile basically
GOTTA BLAST
Hi, your videos are awesome. only one question. Can you tell me where you downloaded those in-game clouds? you're welcome. I was looking for them, but I did not find.
Love this game I just watch your videos
Is this a new mic? If so, it sounds good :)
Rebranded SpaceX
Mor commonly known as Lowne Aerospace 😎
The real stratolaunch took off
notification squad!
btw Matt, i first suggested the Stratolaunch, when you first asked what to build (before you decided to build the Munarch base)
I have been trying to build a working rocket. It always gets to 3 quarters of kerbins atmosphere and then turns and points down. Thank god I built parachutes into it.
+Matt Lowne could you make a asteroid Catcher and call it Dream Catcher
Thank you for craft file link 😍.
Could you list your installed mods (how ? : CKAN ?) and your KSP version (steam ?)
Matt try building a space station with this vehicle and also try launching Discovery the space plane from the bottom of the plane
Lmao when you said Minimmus is pretty easy to get to
I cant even get to the moon
is that cost reliable? because it doesnt look like it. i mean if you wanted to pull a heavier craft, like some investigation module or ROver. Would it work? or you should need more power?
Can you use mechjeb, tell the rocket to reach orbit, and then you go take control of the stratolauncher?
I'm trying to get a Falcon 9 to work in game and I think that would be a similar concept. I tell the upper stage to reach orbit while I fly the lower stage back down.
CrimsonGamer99 MechJeb can't control something more than 20 km away from active spacecraft, use mod called FMRS for reusable stages
Данила Исаичкин Will do, thanks!
Very nice... Let's see Paul Allen's Stratolauncher.
Dreams come true :)
Still hoping for a Gilly base.
SuperHammy3 gilly has like zero gravity so that would be very hard
RCS would make it easier.
Is there something like Camera Tools seeing as the current Camera Tools is not working. At least I don't think so.
Replace the Mk3 cockpit with the same apparatus from the other side. Take out the middle nose and place the Mk1 cockpit on it. Much better aerodynamically
+1 challenge: Stratolaunch, but the first rocket booster has to be recovered, SpaceX style.
I LOVE OYU
Hello sir!
Can I ask what environment effects you use? It looks pretty nice.
it was my first time going to the moon so i wanted to do an eva report then my craft started shaking THEN THE GOD DAMN KRAKEN GOT ME
you are amazing
do a hanging base on mun arch (use the claws) (btw 1.3 is out)
make a space station around the sun plz no youtuber has ever done that
Fowzia Abubaker probably burn
how you do that camera cinematics movements?
What mod lets you switch betwen aircrafts ? I would like to try it
Why can't the cockpit be on the left?
Would it be possible with propellers instead of jet engines. It think it would be lighter and cheaper
you sure about that ? you can do pretty powerful props
you can make stock propellors too with a fairing, some RTGs and reaction wheels, check on youtube. the thing is i don't know what is their thrust because they re not considered as engines but as subassemblies meaning i don't how to get their performances. Big advantage is you don't need fuel at all and have infinite range
indeed you're right, i downloaded and tested it, fuel tanks are empty. however I have another issue : the plane is very unstable after launching the rocket...
@1:26 You mean 7-8 thousand meters right? Good video though haha.
i tried but i have to chose rocket or plane. plane crash on earth or rocket fall to earth. so how did you done both??
have you considered doing DMP for these missions or even starting a DMP server?
Could you do either a Jool 5 or a Kerbol 16?
The wings need to be like double in length
And no engines in the middle wing
this is the fastest video by you.
