角川書店発行の漫画雑誌『ガンダムエース』創刊号より連載された安彦良和の漫画『機動戦士ガンダム THE ORIGIN』は、従来のテレビアニメ版や劇場版と設定が大きく異なる部分が多いパラレル作品であることから、別途記載する。
一年戦争終結後（ア・バオア・クー脱出）からエゥーゴが結成されるまでの経緯は映像化も特にされておらず、『機動戦士Ζガンダム』にてワンカットが描かれたのみである。そのため従来は文字による設定や、小説版『機動戦士Ζガンダム』における細部の描写で判断するしかなかった。『ガンダムエース』に連載された北爪宏幸の漫画『機動戦士ガンダム C.D.A. 若き彗星の肖像』は本格的にこの期間を描いているが、続編である『機動戦士Ζガンダム Define』も含め細部の設定が異なっている。その他、ゲーム『機動戦士ガンダム ギレンの野望』シリーズやプレイステーション用ゲーム『機動戦士Ζガンダム』などでは、サンライズが制作したアニメムービーにて短いながらその期間が描かれている。
第一次ネオ・ジオン抗争から第二次ネオ・ジオン抗争開戦以前の期間も映像化されておらず、また、準公式的な扱いをされている作品もないため、諸説入り乱れている。

Char's whereabouts from UC0080 to 0087 and then UC0088 to 0093 should be made into an animated movie or mini series. This will bring clarity to Char's evolution.
I’ve been hoping that for years. All we have is that one PS3 game where Char learns that Kamille got his brain fried in the final battle of the Gryps conflict. That’s what apparently made him go off the deep end
I recommend reading the manga Chars Deleted Affair as it covers what happened to Char in between 0079 and the start of Zeta. Its pretty good barring some very minor things.

UC0087 (Zeta Gundam) can be said to be Char's journey of reflection and atonement after reviewing his past addiction to Machiavellianism. It also explains why he was so reluctant to use his public real identity to make political appeals.
He could have prevented the disastrous ending of Zeta if he just gave Reccoa some of that D she was so thirsty for 💦
Yeah Char is a weird char-acter when it comes to his archetype, typically Anti Hero to Villain Arcs have a direct line from Heroism to Villany but Char is different,
He starts as an Anti Hero, is a Heroic Mentor in the middle and then finally the Villain, which is unconventional, as a comparison, Darth Vader, who starts a hero then became a Villain, only ever redeeming himself in death, there is a direct throughline in that arc, Char flip flops over time instead.
Man, even the guy died, his legends survived and lives on as a symbol

So in short we wouldn't have CCA if Haman made sure that Natalie lived, giving Char something he never had since forever: a real reason to live and something to hold his craziness back, cuz gotta be honest by CCA, Char is totally bonkers, he don't have anyone close to him, no family, no one to make sure he is still somewhat mentally sound.

To be fair to Haman, she was a 16 year old that was pushed into power due to the events, and Char, who could have been her way out by taking the lead, refused to do so, and even did all he could to thrust her into the role.

i think Char was fine for most of Zeta gundam, untill he reunites with Haman anyway and after that is when he goes even deeper into crazy town
Damn, it hits hard to me really sad that his love life is also a big tragedy and couldnt find love at the end, haman caused death of his love affair natalie and unborn child he was really devastated that explains why he's so mad at haman and went crazy to kill her immediatly in zeta!! i think his charecter alone drives the whole gundum lore, such a well written main charecter i've seen in any lore of fiction, definetly one of my all time favourite charecters!!
Chars is the pseudo protagonist of the gundam lore.
@@orochi2723 actually yes. The whole story will not start technically if he did not take the identity of the real Char and his plot for revenge towards the Zabi. Sure, back then Gundam will still exist but having no Char in the whole storyline will bring a big impact to the whole lore. Chronologically, Char started the whole story and we see it unfold through Amuro’s POV
@@orochi2723 yeah definetly mate, he's the'' pseudo protagonist '' of gundam you stole the word from my mouth!! that was what i meant to say!! actually the story is told from amuro's perspective in guundam 0079 during 1 year war deliberately by tomino, so that audience could root for white base crew and earth federation as protagonists and to make char as antagonist also making zeons as enemies. if we just turn and see the perspective to chars point of view, gundam is basically his story and struggle from the begining to end of chars counter attack and influence after his death in further in UC timeline.

one thing I learn when watch Universal Century series was when I watch it Casval Rem Deikun (Char Aznable) feel like the main character that Sunrise/Bandai hide on purpose as a red gem.
I always thought Amuro Ray was the main dude in the canon Gundam. But after this, you're right, it's always been Char... all this time...

If you look again the frame before the psicowave event when amuro and others try move axis, the energy come from Char scape pod first and gerate that force who help then move away the asteróid. The depressed Char, change opinion about his desire for death and the death of humanity and listen Amuro words, the new wave of newtype energy explode from him to Nu Gundam and to all arround in axis.
Char didn't want the death of humanity. He wanted everyone to become empaths and stop throwing colonies at the planet.

Both Char & Amuro as well as other characters like Haman & Lalah appear in Gundam Build Fighters ep23. Char & Amuro appear as AI in Battlogue ep1 where they fight to double KO.
Char does come back Afranche Char like 100 years later so its all good.

Exactly, Full Frontal is the Char that survive and lose his humanity (soul) by the psycho frame to be the will of the fallen people during war. In the last part of Gundam Unicorn he recovers his humanity when Amuro, Lala and his soul (classic Char) take him to beyond. Tha is one of the best finals that I have ever seen and the best character development in the anime or movies.
Full Frontal is *not* Char, he's a cyber-newtype clone, this is explicitly stated in the Unicorn Novels.

thanks! yea. Not yet. They had plans for Char to be in ZZ but they scrapped it after they got the go ahead to produce the Char's Counter Attack movie. I wonder if they will cover Char's story during ZZ as a sequel to the manga Zeta Gundam define after it's finished. I'd be very interested to read that.
@Aaron There's no written media, but there is an anime cutscene from the end of the Zeta Gundam PS1 game made to expand on the ending of Zeta's anime,
and to give a small look into what he was doing when Haman died during the first Neo Zeon war.

They left it ambiguous since the end of CCA, and masterfully left it so at the end of Unicorn.
There was indeed a sould there. One who adopted or even contains a chunch of Char's/Casval's soul, but I don't think it was truly the man we saw in CCA.

And sure he played the "antagonist" role, yet he has many followers in the story.
I kinda lost interest in anything after Char's Counter Attack, coz he's no longer here 😥, and also, the latter art style of the characters is rather "unstable".
By art style, I mean it is the design of how the character looks. Not the visual quality, which continues to improve as technology of anime production advances.
