I have a 2015 Northern Lite 10-2 EXCD that I carry around on my 2009 SRW Ford F-350 with a Cummins 6.7. I boondock camp about 6-8 months of the year, mainly in the Mountain states and Utah and Nevada. I have taken that thing just about everywhere off road you can think of and it has taken everything without one item tearing up. Really a well made camper, I can't say enough good things about it. Any problems I have had, when you call the company they actually pick up the phone and connected me with the guy on the assembly floor that knew about the problem and walked me through the fix on the phone. Excellent customer service. I have camped in well below freezing temps with no problems as the heat vents are also in the tank areas so no freezing of piping or tanks. A great camper that is super comfortable, reliable and built to last.
@P C it's a true 4 season..the heat vents go into where the tanks are..its made in Canada so they know a bit about keeping it from freezing in the winter. I think the coldest Ive been in is 8 degrees F, no problems.

They are some fantastic campers. I remember in the '70s when these first started popping up. It was just basically a big aluminum box with a bed and a sink. Today you can get so much in one of these. I'm thinking about doing a lot of friend of mine is doing right now. A couple years back he decided to become a touring tournament fisherman for bass. After he bought his boat a realized what it was going to cost to go to a hotel almost every week. Someone suggested one of these campers and he picks one up and has never looked back. I'm really thinking about doing the same exact thing. Some of those campers you could spend a couple days inside very easily. A lot of times when it rains tournament fishers need to get out of the water and then you're spending the rest of your day doing nothing but sitting around your hotel. At least this way I can bring my things with me and save money. Thank you for whoever shared this video talk about perfect timing.

I had a four wheel eagle model many years ago. I had to sell it due to life circumstances, but I really missed that camper. I was ready to buy again and did crazy amounts of research. Ultimately I settled on getting a high rise camper shell with a topper ez lift. It’s the most economical and best option in many ways. The slide in campers often require that you do some mods on your vehicle and are actually kind of hard on the truck. A shell? It’s zero maintenance, feather light, and You can build it out how you like it. I’m not so much a carpenter and so I found one to help me do the interior. The camper can also be stealthy if need be.
The old ford with camper, my dad had one when i was a kid. Ford sold it with a camper, called a camper special, 1978, 2wd, 480hp motor, extended cab what we had. It was easy to rip plumming off back going off road.
I wish Land Rover would make a 4-door pickup of their revived Defender series SUVs. I'd definitely get a Hiatus camper. Having two ways to enter is perfect because you never know if some jerk is going to park behind you and block access to the rear door. Or sometimes, you park in a forest and the ONE parking spot nobody wants is the only one you can use! Forgot to add: having watched a few stealth camping videos, one genius owns a similar popup camper and tried sleeping in it with the top down. People don't even come near it. He cheats by putting a sleeping bag on the floor since there's no way to use the bed.

Tyler: Factoring in the price of having to upgrade your present PU to haul one of these beasts then it's not cost effective over a nice 5th wheel or other type trailer. The only advantage is you're not towing.
But if you compare those prices to a full size RV..... Factor in gas to run it, maintenance... I'm biased because I LOVE my truck camper. FYI: fuel cost doubled with the weight of the camper, but napping in your own place en route and whenever is priceless!
@@danamichelle1290 Dana, the arguments against a "full size RV" are the very same problems that a truck has. So your point is? You love your truck, go for it and BTW if you only use your truck to haul around your camper then you don't incur the costs you've mentioned. Depends on what you want out of camping: RV parks or truly unpopulated areas. If you want access to primitive areas I suggest Fourwheel Campers' actual campers, which you didn't show. They have all the really basic options: really good big bed, stove, sink, heater, frig, hot water, shower, toilet. They're simple, light, reliable, tolerate the very worst of roads, and fit on mid-size trucks. Ours is 11 yrs, 70,000 mi, and after 9 summers of camping in the far North a bit scratched but good as new. It's a cult, I guess. Happy camping!
I believe it's for people who already has a truck... if you don't have a truck, buying a motorhome or normal trailer is a better option... Also, paperwork is much simpler and cheaper on truck campers since they are not considered a motorhome/trailer... they are considered just a truck and its cargo.

@@mindseyedesign yes, that is definitely over-priced. A "decent" cost would be more in the $1,000-$5,000 range and still have all the "bells and whistles" options (including a shower with plenty of scorching hot water) and a full fridge/freezer within that price range.
@@mindseyedesign the truth is for what u get in a camper dollar wise, my as well buy a trailer. Campers are over priced for what are. They're life style priced and manufacturers and dealer know this. You get space of not having to tow at a premium price.

Man these sure have changed . That one made in Kelowna is sweet but 65 grand ? pretty sure i'd just opt for another trailer in that range vs . but man . what a gem .
It would be really nice if you could do a segment on campers that are light weight (not pop ups), well made and strong. With the increase costs of gas and trying to live without making a huge footprint on the planet many of us want to camp and travel the country but don’t want to drive gas guzzling vehicles. Light weight campers are the future.

I wish that companies would make a window that opens at the head of the bed, over the cab of the truck, so if a person HAS to get out of the camper in an emergency they can do so safely. Just open the window and step out onto the trucks hood and then onto the ground. The S & S camper company had a wonderful idea when they installed their blackened windows all across the front of the camper, but, they did NOT open.
My 1974 Sunline has an escape hatch/vent over the bed above the cab. Roof strong enough to hold 3 adults. Has a window in the front that doesn’t leak. Why can’t they make them now with a front window?
EXACTLY! That is one that if you got caught in a weekend rain storm, you can be comfortable with all the amenities. I live full time in Safari Trek, I love it! Just me and the dogs.
With all the cameras and electronics in tailgates are there any that have plug ins to replace them in the camper ? Not to mention the back window of trucks that open.
Yes, there are. I choose to install the wired Ford trailer backup camera on my Ford F350 with Host Mammoth camper. This allows the camera to display on the truck's 8" monitor. Other wireless cameras work fine but I didn't want another monitor cluttering up the dash.
Kudos! A few of these are new to me and amazing options! A few of them (like the one that required an F450) are... well the jury’s out, LOL! Appreciate your work!
Is there really a class III truck that can handle the Alp Eagle Cap? It’s over Ford’s recommend cargo for the F450. Then you are pushing the GVWR of the F350. I’m sure it is the same with other brands.
Depends on how you configure the truck. To get the max payload you have a plain cab, no four wheel drive and a gas engine. Also, minimal extras which add weight. That's why I went with a RAM 5500 with my eagle cap 1165. Fully loaded I still have a couple thousand pound cushion.
@@petehaidinyak9084 how do you consider the quality of your 1165? I own a 2016 1165 and the quality is pretty poor! And after I contacted the manufacturer, I discovered they could care less! I carry mine on a 2015 Chevy 3500HD with a gas engine.
@@gmv0553 I've owned a Lance 1172 and the Eagle Cap 1165 and I can say the the fit and finish on both kind of sucked. The 1172 only had two drawers in the kitchen area and they were small, the counter space was very limited. When I ran the generator it was very loud and shook the camper. The 1165 was a much better layouted and the access to the basement and equipment is better. Whenever I move to my permanent home I plan to redo the electrical and plumbing. I have an 11ft flatbed so I have a Honda 3000i generator on the bed in front of the camper. When it's running you can't hear of feel it in the camper.
@@DaveEPie I paid $3K Canadian shipping included, made in Montana and they will install at the factory, but not hard for DIY. I love mine opens a whole new world in truck camping.
One thing I noticed that was not mentioned was the waste water tank capacity/storage or waste water tanks at all. Extremely important because you have showers, toilets and sinks.
ALL truck bed campers have small holding tanks. You are talking overnight family stays, maybe 1-2 person weekend trips only. Their benefit is easy go, easy setup and better than a tent. Also, they go anywhere your pickup can go, so you have many more options! 😎
About 35-40 years back, two men stole a truck bed camper. They were quickly arrested. The camper was smaller than the truck bed. How many videos do they make in a day? This is the 3rd or 4th time I saw the dress.
Some do, our Lance 850 has a window below the cabover that can be opened and a pass passthru put in to connect to the truck's rear window. A bit awkward but then you can crawl between the truck cab to the camper without going outside.
Hello, I’m wondering if you could tell me if a truck (srw or drw) & camper combo will fit in the average parking spot. Also, could you drive with the combo in the winters of the north eastern states where we see plenty of snow? Thank you.
We have a Lance 850 on a long bed dually, and we can park anywhere. That's the advantage of the truck camper. Except for height, it's over 11 feet tall so that can be a problem with low tunnels or tree branches. If you have a 4x4 truck with locking differentials you can get around pretty much anywhere. But avoid mud, our rig fully loaded is at least 11K pounds and weight in sloppy mud isn't a good combo.

With the increase costs of gas and trying to live without making a huge footprint on the planet many of us want to camp and travel the country but don’t want to drive gas guzzling vehicles. Light weight campers are the future.
Hi Narissa, have a look at our camper playlist. I think you'll find several videos along the lines of what you suggested. I do agree with you and I'll keep an eye out. Thank you for the feedback.

Most, if not all, have an escape hatch over the front bunk by law
Our Lance850 has an escape hatch above the bed and also one of the windows.
@@jflury1823 how high is the camper? ( Lance 850) Includes air conditioner? The cab overhand is still too long on new campers for a standard cab.
When the camper is on the truck, it is approximately 13 feet 4 inches tall at the highest point (actually the tv antenna).
Number 3 is for me!!!!!
EXACTLY! That is one that if you got caught in a weekend rain storm, you can be comfortable with all the amenities. I live full time in Safari Trek, I love it! Just me and the dogs.
@@mikemartinez7433 Sounds like fun !!!!
#8 is great!
Awesome as always.
유용한 정보와 영상 감사드립니다🙂👍"
So if you label a canopy a camper you can get 4 times the money?
Got a utility trailer that could be double duty as an RV with right camper... thanks for the tour.
in Oregon we have to pay registration for a cabover camper just as it was a motorhome or a trailer
The Host is a great camper IF you can wait until fall to get one.🙄 Best for the money 👍
The host would be perfect for us.
Where could we find one in the Carolinas?
Scout for us, yoho

What was the camper on the ford f350

Kudos! A few of these are new to me and amazing options! A few of them (like the one that required an F450) are... well the jury’s out, LOL! Appreciate your work!
Glad you like them!
That one in Canada is probably 80 90 grand.
We get charged separate camper registration by full body length in Oregon.
FACT: The F450 actually has less payload than the comparably equipped F350! Check it!
How come ? H
Lemme guess; you're a Dodge dude....
@@lindamcentaffer5969 no. I have a 2016 King Ranch Dually. Just like the thumb nail. Chevy dude actually, yet drive a Ford.
Good idia
What is this? Maybe
Ford/Chinook combination
Is there really a class III truck that can handle the Alp Eagle Cap? It’s over Ford’s recommend cargo for the F450. Then you are pushing the GVWR of the F350. I’m sure it is the same with other brands.
Depends on how you configure the truck. To get the max payload you have a plain cab, no four wheel drive and a gas engine. Also, minimal extras which add weight. That's why I went with a RAM 5500 with my eagle cap 1165. Fully loaded I still have a couple thousand pound cushion.
You're absolutely correct!
The F350 and F450 actually have the same 14,000 lb GVWR. That translates to the F450 having less payload.
I need one
@8:52 That’s a Ford Super Camper circa 1989…ish.
Yes you save by only registering 1 vehicle. But those cost the same to 2x the cot of a trailer, with half to a 1/4th of the room
How come it says view replies and then it is hidden?????
Allot going on there
There is a typo in the "2021 REAL LITE HARD-SIDE MAX HS-1910" link [2 "r"s in rv]. Other Palomino link is correct.

Real truck camping.....keep things simple !
Get a Stablelift and it opens a whole new world. 5 minutes to drop your camper and go exploring, no need to reload, just jump in and sleep!
How much do they run ? $
HIATUS CAMPERS is the BEST.
Hello BenteLog, thank you for watching!
I believe that's a Born Free.
I love you need a $40,000 Truck to haul these $40,000 bed campers.
Ha ha ha, now days it's more like $65,000 and $65,000!!!
@@blueridgepatriot1356 Sheesh yea 2 years changed a lot, those are probably the 22's used truck prices too.
About 35-40 years back, two men stole a truck bed camper. They were quickly arrested. The camper was smaller than the truck bed. How many videos do they make in a day? This is the 3rd or 4th time I saw the dress.
I bought a 40ft Class A... I should have considered dual pick up and camper!!! Some are sick... great video!
6 & 4/820 & # 3, I liked best
.... Truck Camper is One of My Dreams (not rich).
Was that a mini wini?
Wish it can be designed with cab access instead of external access specially for night use
For the price you would think they would include cab access
Some do, our Lance 850 has a window below the cabover that can be opened and a pass passthru put in to connect to the truck's rear window. A bit awkward but then you can crawl between the truck cab to the camper without going outside.
That is a late 70's Ford pickup with a Bigfoot camper on it. They were all fiberglass if I remember right.
I always liked the idea but the cost and I would think they are tippy but I have no idea.
nice
Just don't forget that it clear the bridges or underground parking lots:-)

I noticed Artic Fox did not make the list...
@@jflury1823 Thank you!
I'd rather pull a trailer thank you.
The hidden phrase in the end hmmm
They forgot Bigfoot, Lance and Arctic Fox.
The weight of those are out of the big ones are out of the 3/4 range.
