Love the strategy and the “not getting too deep into one subject” advice. Definitely better to know a bit of everything than only one thing very well, especially for interviews!

Yup, projects + accountability have been the absolute best way that I've managed to get myself to get stuff done.
@@TinaHuang1 Thanks for the support! Yes, as @Limitless pointed out, procrastination and imposter syndrome are both quite prevalent in academia. I've learned most of my python and R skills with Jose, but this last course took things to a much deeper level. I would start out with Jose though. Great Instructor. Easy to follow, build the foundation and then go from there. Great video. Thanks for sharing your resources used and your journey with us all.
What I've learned is to go with a start small approach like I describe in the video. The idea of becoming a great data scientist is super overwhelming because there's just so much to learn! Try to start small and apply the framework of learn the minimum, project, iterate, and lots of accountability. I think you'll set yourself up for success this time around :) You got this!!

Which projects can you suggest? Because most of the "projects" ive seen online are grabbing some code and changing a few variables and boom you have a perfect AI
LOL this is so true it’s not even funny 😆 so For beginners I do recommend doing projects that people have started and since projects are really never finished you can replicate that but take it some steps further. This builds confidence and teaches you the logic behind the analysis from someone hopefully more experienced than you. As you do more projects I highly recommend working on real world projects from consulting and open source because that’s a good way to eventually get a job :) I’m making a video about this now haha

Is Project important in Learning Data Science Or Data Analyst ? As a Beginer How Many Project Should to do? in Excel ,SQL , Power Bi , Tblue , R basic and Python Basic ?
I've taken lots of paid courses (and completed them) on machine learning. What I could really beef up on is EDA and data visualization. Any course/book recommendations?
I would like some advice. I would like to move towards Data Science or Data Analytics. Is selfstudy enough to get a job in Data Science or Data Analytics? Or is it better to get an education for that? Selfstudy isn’t that hard for me to concentrate, but i feel like missing some knowledge in some areas. For Education, You go to school and you learn all different types and others, but a lot time is spent on useless subjects you never use. I almost finished with Software Developer education, What I learned was most for webdevelopment. html, css, js, Java, Python(Django) and sql. thank you in advance : )
uncommon philosophy. have you ever witnessed any 'super riffers'? People who have an intuitive knack for eliciting the desirable behaviors of "unlikely datasets" they want to remake into their own idea but.....quick. They would most likely have: a. their own 'home rig' of assembled machines or b. they're the only ones aware of a "no code" interface that hasn't been released to the general public yet. ('m half joking and half serious).
Thank you for mentioning the resources. It was definitely informative. I am a SWE thinking about transitioning to DS. I think it would be great if you can make video about the process of doing the actual project. I haven't researched much but I haven't seen something like that a lot. I am not talking about showing the implementation of model and how to choose different approaches but very hight level going through the overall process for someone like me who can learn pieces if they know what they actually are the necessary part for becoming a Data scientist.
Hmm I recently did a project video but it was more specific to the sentiment analysis I was doing. I think that would be an awesome video topic :) Thanks so much for the suggestion - it's high up on my future video list now so stay tuned!
The biggest obstacle I've faced after going through this is that I lack experience for Data Science and even Data Analyst roles (I'm a 2020 math grad for context). It seems like the only hope is to take a different role with the hope of moving to a data science role from within the same company.
What do you recommend for a completely beginner, I just graduated high school and want to start learning as soon as possible. I don’t own a computer yet but do you think a laptop will suffice? Or should I buy a pc? Please let me know I don’t know nothing 😭
Everytime I start to Learn ML i just get lost In DFS approach of learning and i get overwhelmed.I Hope In 2021 it won't be the same case. And The Credits goes to Tina....
I totally get it! I used to be like that too, which I think works in specific cases. Generally this works far better primarily because it helps combat the overwhelm/accountability aspect :) You got this!!
Great Video, I liked the framework thing, I had been stuck in my life for a while and I am thinking of implementing this, I am saying this here because i want to be accountable, I hope I will not disappoint whoever is reading this comment.
I am planning to do masters in data science , is it worth it ? Btw I love your videos and most important thing in this video was “learn just enough” and start working on a project.
nlp seems like a very interesting new interdiscipline. the wordl has changed forever by technology, and it is so amazing. we were born in the most exciting time of mankind. I'm so grateful for that and that feeling motivates me when my code sucks :D
The sources are really nicely articulated ma'am! And I do agree that getting some hands on experience with real life data analysis will definitely help provided one has gathered some basic learnings of both programming and Data Science. As far as my experience is concerned "Solving real world data science tasks with Python Pandas" by Keith Galli helped me a lot to get curious about the practices involved in DS. Fab content you have once again!
The content is really helpful, but it is very very very uncomfortable to hear the voice rapidly change. I dk what is the purpose to make this, it is just make me cannot focus on the content.
Hello. l don't have a college degree or university. Can l become a frontend developer? And Can l get a job after a completing a with course certificate?
Hi Tina. Good video. Which of the two paths do you recommend for python DS? (a.)Would it be better to subscribe to paid platforms like data quest or (b.)just take one extensive course as suggested (Py bootcamp - Jose.P). What was your approach?
Hi! I think it really depends a lot on your learning style and your goals. I don’t know much about dataquest but I would do my research very carefully on what these guided projects they talk about exactly are and how that translates to achieving your goal eg. learning, getting a job etc.
Interest is key to self-learning. And imo interest is what makes a career fun. Having to learn something just to have a job is horrible and I don't see how a person would be successful in a career if they weren't interested. Learning is an ongoing thing.
Cause when I don't know, I don't know what I don't know - that literally defines how it feels to try learning from random sources online. A course sounds like a good idea
I'm a graduate in IT and I plan on doing data science. I'm planning to pursue masters in computer science and learn data science through courses online...how does that sound?
Great video I will definitely use your method. I previously tried learning data science using Coursera and completed Andrew ng’s ML course, Deep Learning Specialization, uni of Michigan Applied Data Science with python but never did enough projects to actually land a job. Now 2 years later I will try again even though I’m sure I forgot a lot already . Thanks for motivating me!
nice video, new sub, this is actually a good way, i learn absolutely new stuff exactly the same way minus the accountability , can vouch on that this systems works the best
I've been a neuroscientist for quite some time, phd and post doc included... I'm thinking of formalizing and cementing my knowledge of data analysis in order to leave academia, where I've basically been learning bits and pieces of 'stuff' when it became necessary (like, a bit of python, a bit of r, a bit of ML concepts, and so on). I've just started the IBM certification after your other video! I've stumbled upon data science because of my job as a neuroscientist but I've now been thinking of changing careers, and your videos clarified a lot of fuzzy concepts I had going on in my mind.
Hello Tina, Is it recommend to code all the machine learning algorithms from scratch so that I can learn math behind it or just understand and start to code?
I wouldn’t do them all from scratch in the beginning. If you want to you can always do that once you’ve played around with them and used them. The primarily reason is that it may be very difficult and take very long, which is highly discouraging in the beginning. In my experience, learning things a bit and then iterating is far more effective in increasing the probability of actually getting it done :)
@@TinaHuang1 Oh my Tina is really spitting some truths... I usually dive as deep as possible with the topics I am learning and by my own experience I have realized learning ML algos from scratch at the beginning is the worst idea. I will follow your plan now :)

Great video! Super detailed breakdown. Totally agree with doing projects as well.
Yay I’m so happy to hear that! ❤️
you’re cute! thanks for the video🤍
Yess stat quest
U r great Tina ❤️
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩🇧🇩
Thanks a lot for your video.
Especially, the recommendation for choosing projects to do.
Make sure to check the alumni and see if they end up with jobs that you would like to go into! And I’m so glad you enjoyed the video ❤️
nlp seems like a very interesting new interdiscipline. the wordl has changed forever by technology, and it is so amazing. we were born in the most exciting time of mankind.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! Ohh thanks for the suggestion - I’ve got to check it out 😊
im a Delivery boy for Pizza, can i become data scientist?
The content is really helpful, but it is very very very uncomfortable to hear the voice rapidly change. I dk what is the purpose to make this, it is just make me cannot focus on the content.
Hello. l don't have a college degree or university. Can l become a frontend developer? And Can l get a job after a completing a with course certificate?
I liked this video before I decided to watch it. Cool TITLE
Hi! How many hours do Data Scientist work per week? And do you have enough free time?
Hi Tina.
The truth is basic statistics is definitely not enough for ML for a practical working situation.......
Cause when I don't know, I don't know what I don't know -
that literally defines how it feels to try learning from random sources online. A course sounds like a good idea
Thank you Tina! I 've a degree in political science. What are my chances of getting along with this great field. Thanks!
Wow I was using the same technique without even knowing that u use the same.
Video says 2022 thumbnail says 2021 video released 2020 wow XD
I'm a graduate in IT and I plan on doing data science. I'm planning to pursue masters in computer science and learn data science through courses online...how does that sound?
😌😌so satisfying to see a person, who have exactly same problems and having pro tips to solve them... Loved you video 😍😍
Yup knowledge is only half the equation! You got this!!! I don’t doubt that you’ll succeed ❤️
nice video, new sub, this is actually a good way, i learn absolutely new stuff exactly the same way minus the accountability , can vouch on that this systems works the best
your audio seems like its lacking that bass id recommend looking into that otherwise great vid
Why is the gain on your Blue Yeti mike at 0?
I've been a neuroscientist for quite some time, phd and post doc included... I'm thinking of formalizing and cementing my knowledge of data analysis in order to leave academia, where I've basically been learning bits and pieces of 'stuff' when it became necessary (like, a bit of python, a bit of r, a bit of ML concepts, and so on). I've just started the IBM certification after your other video! I've stumbled upon data science because of my job as a neuroscientist but I've now been thinking of changing careers, and your videos clarified a lot of fuzzy concepts I had going on in my mind.
I discovered your page and I love it. I m getting my full time data science job this year. Speaking it into existence.
🔥🔥 Yess it all begins in the mind! 😉 Let me know when you get it!!
Daang...im same too... I want learning fast, coz i easily get bored and switch to watching...well in your example cat vids 😆
You guys can use khan academy for stats 🤞
Tina what about Google's Data science certificate?
man i wish i'd found you right at the beginning of my dissertation project TT.TT
Hello Tina,
Is it recommend to code all the machine learning algorithms from scratch so that I can learn math behind it or just understand and start to code?
I wouldn’t do them all from scratch in the beginning. If you want to you can always do that once you’ve played around with them and used them. The primarily reason is that it may be very difficult and take very long, which is highly discouraging in the beginning. In my experience, learning things a bit and then iterating is far more effective in increasing the probability of actually getting it done :)
@@TinaHuang1 Oh my Tina is really spitting some truths... I usually dive as deep as possible with the topics I am learning and by my own experience I have realized learning ML algos from scratch at the beginning is the worst idea. I will follow your plan now :)
someone who wats to start this from scratch with me? If you know spanish better xDD
i esp like the accountability part. props to you for the emphasis 💙💙
Yesss ❤️
The truth is, in 2021 you don't need to learn data science, it's outdated.
I will stop watcing catpusic channel and start doing projects😼
