Hope you guys read this. I’ve been interested in reef aquariums for a long time. I’ve been planning out a tank for like two years, but I’ve always found a way to not take the leap and start my own aquarium. It’s too expensive or worried it’ll absolutely fail and not being around a healthy community. Everyone would always talk me out of it cause it’s soo hard and you’re guaranteed to fail. But I’ve been watching your videos for a while and now today, I just added my rock, sand and salt water, and begin cycling today. You guys gave me the confidence to make that step from all your informative videos and I just want to say thank you!

Good tip, when chisleing your rocks (do this for better shapes and flow holes).
keep the chisel dust, stones and pebbles.
use this over putty, cement or whatever with Glue and it appears seamless as is same colour!!! 🤜
Thick gel glue first, bigger pebbles, then dust, runny glue and final dusting

My aquascape is a tower of Marco base rocks with drilled holes stacked on a 2-4” pvc fastened through 1/2” acrylic, kind of like a mortar. I started with a concrete drill bit and shattered a couple rocks. I bought more from BRS, described the broken rocks, asked for replacements and got what i asked for (nailed it again, BRS!). In the end I had the best success using some cheap 2.5”-5” diamond hole saws and water. I did need to do a little chiseling to get out some of the deeper cuts.

Hi, I’m a little confused. This is my first time aquascaping and I watched another video you guys posted and you all recommend using epoxy after using the superglue rather than using mortar. But this video is suggesting using mortar rather than epoxy. Can you explain?

PERFECT TIMING! I am about to order rock from you guys but I wanted to know what kind of adhesive to use!

I've been using your BRS thick super glue and making lines of it in some coarse sand to create my own thin branching rock shapes. Zoa Garden? Naw, I'm going to try a Zoa tree.

It's the truth, order more than you think you need! GET THE MARCO! I hated paying for it until my structure fell apart w/o it lol.... put it back together with super glue, added the Marco and it's SOLID.
I show the process in my latest vid.
Oh, you can get that accelerant at your local hardware box store also :-)

Good review and advice. Thank for your honesty re: shelf life of tube vs bottle. I'm a freshwater (gasp) guy, but I've purchased from you before and thanks to this presentation, am heading over to support your 'site again. Thank you.

Sodium bicarbonate/baking soda works great as a super glue accelerator, just mix with water and put it in a spray bottle.

      Love the natural route.
How fast is it and what's the water/bicarb ratio?

@@modotd3885 it's instant, a tablespoon to a cup of water will work fine.

Can also just use it dry :)
That way it can add some thickness to the glue :)

What if you’re not using Marco rock. What if you’re using live rock that has been dried and outside of the tank for two weeks

I have to use the rod.methos because I have a Eurobrace tank which also has a center brace. There's not enough room in the openings to get everything in the tank in one piece. (BTW, this was in an established tank already.)

Strangely enough it's been my experience that coralline algae seems to prefer growing on the E-400 mortar over the rock.

so i have my aquascape ready to put in the tank. There are some much larger arches in my scape that are too heavy to transport over when moving from my table into the tank if they were mortared on beforehand. When I place them down they're fine, they stay put, but they just have a bit of wobble to them so I was thinking once everything is set in my tank, can I first use glue to get into the small crevices of the heavy arches, then use insta-set, the go over with them with epoxy just to stabilize them before any water is added?

Or you can use the Marco dust on the seam then flip it over and fill the hole again and no seam is seen

Went to the website to get super glue for my aquascaping rock and they're all out of stock so that pretty much defeats the purpose of advertising them. Gotta have plenty of them readily available to meet the consumers demand otherwise it's pointless to even advertising them.

Those epoxy glue suck! They don't hold and tend to be a fat waste of money and time. Get yourself super glue as they tend to hold instantly and more aquascaping done. Same goes for the E-marco motor which is what I use for my aquascape well worth every penny for it's strength once they're fully cured under the water.
