Remember Christine Gregoire. She had a stance of no new stadiums Oklahoma City on the other hand built an arena. It took the Sonics to leave for us to build new stadiums to keep the Seahawks and mariners and get a nhl team
Agreed, pretty much everyone does unless your from OKC. And so many cities with more infrastructure and size deserved it over OKC anyways. Same story with Memphis except they kept the name which was even worse. Glad OKC had some class and renamed them. Bet the NBA is crying over the missed revenue from major metros like Seattle and now Vancouver, they jumped the gun too fast. Hell Vancovers largest suburb is bigger than Memphis and OKC pales in comparison to the Seattle metro.
@iamchaunceman they moved them to okc because we have the best fucking fans! Have you not looked this up? When we had new Orleans team the nba realized how okc people would come to the games and be loud! If Seattle wanted to keep their team they should've supported it more 😂😂😂
When basketball FINALLY comes back home to Seattle, We need to pump so much support and momentum into this team!! Seattle deserves a Championship in their debut season! 🏀🏆🥹🥲
KD - The last great Sonic. Luv & miss them. To this day I whatever team KD plays for is my team. I started liking basketball in the 80’s when an underdog Sonic team with McMillan, Ellis and the X-Man took took a stacked Laker squad to 6 or 7 games in the playoffs. Then when I was old enough to drive, I’d take my little brother to the games and we’d wait for the players to drive up to the games and get their autographs when they got out of their cars. After the game we’d listen to sports radio all the way home. I hope someday my boys can experience those memories.
Crazy theory. Somehow I feel that if they stayed in Seattle the trio of KD, Westbrook and Harden would have at least one ring together, they would have more people wanting to go there, it’s more attractive destination and a basketball city, shame KD only had one year there.
My city! They moved when I was 11. My Dad’s biggest regret is never taking me to a Sonics game. We just didn’t know we’d lose that chance. Dad never picked a new team, I adopted the Celtics. When the NBA comes back to Seattle, I WILL DROP EM AND I WILL BE THERE.

@@willdiesel8431the WNBA doesn’t compare to the NBA in terms of revenue. Many WNBA teams don’t even play in their NBA arenas because they can’t fill them. Dallas for example, the wings play in a college arena in a suburb because there’s no way they’d fill the American Airlines center in Dallas like the Mavs and Stars do. Just different requirements but I still think Sonics should have never been allowed to leave. To take the NBA from the two largest metros in the Pacific Northwest and move them to boring smaller Midwest/south cities like Memphis and OKC was absurd. It’s like burning money.
