Thank you for the video. I received Perry Agincourt mounted yesterday and a piece of the horse chainmail was missing from the sprue 😕 I will try to arrange the chainmail using your technique

Always interesting, even if I don't see which figures on my railway layout need chainmaille!
Still strange that the views are so low.

Ur videos are amazing... In u r beginning video u used green stuff n fimo on top, do you bake ur fimo ? Is it safe to bake epoxy? 🤔, I want you use premo over epoxy , thus the doubt, pls clarify..

    • @TomMasonSculptor
      @TomMasonSculptor  3 года назад +1

I always bake my FIMO when I am done with all of the sculpting. Premier should work just as well and in the same way as FIMO.
      Good luck with your sculptures!

Sorry Tom quick question: why do you mix it 1:2? I always thought you should mix it 1:1? Sorry if you explained it in any of your videos before already

    • @nekrataali

I think that's how Greenstuff comes in the package. There's twice as much yellow to blue, as seen here: www.greenstuffworld.com/5179-thickbox_default/green-stuff-tape-6-inches-with-gap.jpg
If you buy large, practically industrial quantities of the stuff in jars/bars/tubes instead of in strips (like I'm sure Tom does), you have to measure it out in a 2:1 ratio instead of just cutting at the same spot in a strip.

@@nekrataali oh wow man never realized that.. Thanks a lot and sorry for asking that stupid question !

@@sebastianvogt6554 I don't think it's a dumb question it's just not something that's really noticeable because of how Greenstuff is usually packaged lol

In my experience the mix ratio affects how the putty behaves.
A 1:2 mix of blue/yellow gives a more squishy but stickier putty. A 1:1 mix gives a stiffer but slightly less sticky putty.
The cured putty is also different: the cured 1:2 mix is bends more easily, useful if you have pre-made a curvy pipe or something that just needs to bend that little further before you super glue it in place in the final figure.

As some of the other comments say, yes, Greenstuff was origianlly sold in tape form which had more yellow than blue in the strip. You can do 50/50 or even more blue. Many mixes work. However, I find the material more pliable when mixing it with more yellow.

Where do you get those little jars at?

    • @TomMasonSculptor

Those are little screw nesting bead organizers. You should be able to find them at most craft stores.
