lyrics: The old man next door says his house is haunted He says a ghost keeps him awake I think he's having a hard time, to be honest Since his darling passed away But he fears that a phantom Has finally found him... some nemesis that never quit holding a grudge The old man next door says his house is haunted It's best to be upfront with some tough love I said Robert I'm so sorry Your house ain't haunted You're just not used to bein' alone Robert all the creaks and shifts are just the sounds you missed When you shared your home He says: no, no, no, no no no... I've had some close calls with falling items I'm duckin' picture frames and dinner plates and all All my daily meds: I can never find 'em They're put in places that I never would've done And the furniture shifts and it caused me to trip I wake up with my pillow on my face every night It sounds silly but this house is tryin' to kill me Will you come see? Just stay with me? Just stay with me one time? I said Robert I'm so sorry Your house ain't haunted You're just not used to bein' alone Robert all the shifts and creaks are just the signs of grief Now you're living on your own... But okay, I'll go... And I can't help but feel absurd because nothing That I've heard from the downstairs room Is of paranormal origin, it's 4 am, this poor old man is just confused But wait I hear footsteps... on the stairs... They're gettin' louder and louder... Above me... They're stomping I pray it's just Robert until I hear him scream my name NEIGHBOR GUY! And I go running up the stairs, jumping three at a time And I'm fully unprepared for the terrors I will find I burst into the room and by the light of the moon It's a ghost as real as both me and you And it wasn't the butler that he sacked without cause Or that surly groundskeeper or that mafia boss Or his old business partner that he stabbed in the back Or the ghost of Christmas Future, Present or Past And it wasn't the guy from the mishap at the zoo Or that other guy from the other mishap at the zoo No, of all the spooky specters Robert wronged in his life The ghost floating between us was his darling dead wife And she said Robert, I'm so sorry Didn't mean to scare you I'm just not used to bein' alone Robert, ya see, death's a one way street And I can't find my way back home Robert, I figured I'd just come getcha I thought a haunting might do the trick Robert, I'm sorry, I thought it'd be easier I don't remember you bein' this quick... The old house next door's got a sign out front now A for sale sign tied to a post So, attention shoppers, you can make an offer On a 2 bed, 2 bath and a Ghost Hope this helps if you wanna sing it

God i love this song. Ive been listening to it on loop and each time i keep thinking "surely i wont cry this time, i listened to it 20 times straight now" and i end up crying anyways. I always found the bitter melancholy after a tragedy to be more emotional to me than the tragedy itself. Like the embers after a fire
I love how deepblueink made Robert’s wife slightly transparent when she wasn’t revealed yet to show that the figure is a ghost, and shows explanations to why everything that was happening was happening even though it was a ghost- Robert’s wife is really good at hiding herself to others

Bug, this song is SO GOOD! I held off listening to it till the music video came out, and I’m glad I did cause I absolutely love the animations! What absolutely got me was the way that last chorus hit! Just a few minimal lyrical changes while changing the meaning of the words wildly into something so sweet (and a tad ominous) and then right into the titles drop? That was a super satisfying ending! Now, onto my playlists it goes!
@@BugHunter Can confirm, it absolutely does work as the full package!! Again, congrats to you and your team on another killer song, and I can’t wait to see y’all in Nashville!
Well this got me way more choked up than I was prepared for. This absolutely slaps, and now I'm all weepy. But.... is Robert selling the house with his wife's ghost still in it? Is he dead too, and if that's the case, did only one of them get to pass on, so they still aren't together? Are we underselling the number of ghosts in the house? Did Robert die, and they passed on together, and now it's purely haunted by one of the guys from the zoo incidents?

This was the first Bug song I ever heard, and I listen to it on repeat now. There’s so many different ways to interpret the end too, I love how Bug leaves so many of his songs for interpretation, as well as possible connections to others. Here are a few possibilities: 1. Robert left his wife but she was still tied to the house 2. Killing Robert let his wife pass on, but he couldn’t, and the house is for sale because there is nobody to receive it in his will 3. Robert and his wife both passed, but Robert’s death somehow killed neighbor guy as well And a bunch that I’m too tired to type because it’s 12:30 and I have work to do later today

Wow. I have little words to explain how incredible this work of art is. All that remains are filled emotions bubbling up over the top. I love the song, the story, the animation, and the singing voice to tie it all together. It's all incredible and my internal tears have almost breached my eyes from the ending. Thank you for making this
“Robert you see, death’s a one way street. And can’t, find my way back home…” Ironically, that line sends me home 😭
Found this by accident, I won't lie it made me tear up multiple times. Great work to all who worked on this!!!
2:52 I love the guy and the other guy from the mishap at the zoo peak comedy right there
Just discovered this artist and the storytelling in the song and the general sound and voice and everything is just great??? Had this song on loop for days now and the music video for it does not disappoint either.
Thank you! Appreciate you giving us a shot! :)
Wow, Bug Hunter. I thought this song wasn’t good, but after listening to it for the first time, I’ve now listened to it 546 times. I love the story of Robert’s wife passing away and thinking a haunting might do the trick. Thank you for inspiring me, Bug Hunter. I hope you continue to make amazing songs like these. Don’t let hate comments stop you from making music.
I don’t have haters! Nothing beats bug hunter fans. The nicest
oh.
well atleast you’re my favourite artist ever, and my brother is one
but why mafia boss, Butler, partner, christmas spirits, two zoo people? how that much
"i don't remember you being this quick.."
this melted my heart
Don't know if I'll be able to tune in but taking this opportunity to say that I love your music so much, and you've gotten me through some really difficult times! So thank you, and as soon as I can I'll be all over this video
Thanks Junebug! Thanks for letting me have the other 11 months to be bug :)
I love the "and I hear him scream my name(neighbor Guy)"
Dude, i randomly stumbled across this song and i absolutely love the song and the story.
robert lore goes crazy
also, oh my god this song tugs on my heart strings for some reason, really amazing work
I watched this song once and instantly fell in love with it 10/10
Thanks!!
0:29 "Robert, I'm so sorry, you might be schizophrenic, Robert, please take your pills"
I love the fact that at the part where you were running to the room, you added the organ, really gives the haunted house feel! Amazing job btw, this is great!
3:21
the wife says she can't find her way back home...
WHILE INSIDE OF THEIR HOME
He is her home
@@intrusive...thoughtsHis wife is probably saying that as in she can't seem to interact with him and get his attention to tell him Hey I'm still here.
I'm assuming she isn't fully there. Like she's slipping into someplace else trying to cling into a wall and she will fall.
Exactly
My son (9) loves this song and made me listen to it and I immediately fell in love with it. Now I played it for my mom and she loves it too. Thank you for your music. You are so talented. ❤
2:09 “Until I hear him scream my name! NEIGHBOUR GUY!” GOT ME GIGGLING (I love the song but that part did make me giggle XD)
1:22 these side effects are the best lmao, every detail of this is perfect

God, I love this part. Keep up the great work!
Bug, dude, I've been a fan since you were just posting stuff on imgur a d I can barely begin to express how friggin' over the moon I am about how far you've gone and are still going, about how heartfelt your songs still are whether they've got me smiling or misty eyed.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Thank you!! I was able to leave my job 6 months ago, doing music full time. So crazy. Appreciate your support from the beginning!
This is actually one of my favorite songs now.
Hey Bug Hunter, it's been a year.
You "Hearted" my comment last year. I found this video again going through the old videos I've seen in the past. After I rewatched it I ended up sobbing hearing this beautiful masterpiece. Love your stuff, man.
Thanks for sticking with us for all this time!
@@BugHunter You're welcome! This song is wonderful, aswell as the others. I don't usually get emotional much so thats what proves that this is a great song!
“I guess I’m just to though to cry.”
“Yesterday you were crying about an old couple..”
“He lost his wife..”
\this is my favorite song ever keep up the good work/
Never before have I been more grateful for RUclips autoplay! It decided to bless my ears with this song, and now I’m sobbing my eyes over this beautiful music and the story behind it
It’s so amazing to see you grow as an artist. I remember being excited when you responded to my DMs back when you released Torn Between a Couple. Thank you for being such a humble and creative artist.
Many love you!!
Thanks for sticking with me for so long :)
Good job bug one of your best songs to date keep it up man ❤
i love this song so much,, the way you sang "i can't find my way back home" has me in tears
This is literally one of my favorites songs right now! Thank you for posting it! And thanks to DeepBlueInk for an amazing animation
This is a crossover I never expected.
I'm a fan of both of you, and it never crossed my mind you'd ever collab.
Do I have great news for you! 😄 check our channel, this is our third animated music video together!
@@BugHunter I noticed as soon as I commented. Shows the rock I live under.
after listening to this many times, i was wondering if you had more songs so i checked out your profile, i love how goofy Be Glad I Love You, and Pinecones are, the creativity of Dear McCracken, the jams of Disco! In the Panic Room, and your not wrong about a toddler being trouble when quiet :).
this song almost made me cry, and it takes alot to get me to feel any emotion other than happiness when listening to music, so uhhhhh, good job
Bro is the only person who can make a banger out of a dead wife haunting the husband
lyrics: The old man next door says his house is haunted
He says a ghost keeps him awake
I think he's having a hard time, to be honest
Since his darling passed away
But he fears that a phantom
Has finally found him... some nemesis that never quit holding a grudge
The old man next door says his house is haunted
It's best to be upfront with some tough love
I said Robert I'm so sorry
Your house ain't haunted
You're just not used to bein' alone
Robert all the creaks and shifts are just the sounds you missed
When you shared your home
He says: no, no, no, no no no...
I've had some close calls with falling items
I'm duckin' picture frames and dinner plates and all
All my daily meds: I can never find 'em
They're put in places that I never would've done
And the furniture shifts and it caused me to trip
I wake up with my pillow on my face every night
It sounds silly but this house is tryin' to kill me
Will you come see?
Just stay with me?
Just stay with me one time?
I said Robert I'm so sorry
Your house ain't haunted
You're just not used to bein' alone
Robert all the shifts and creaks are just the signs of grief
Now you're living on your own...
But okay, I'll go...
And I can't help but feel absurd because nothing
That I've heard from the downstairs room
Is of paranormal origin, it's 4 am, this poor old man is just confused
But wait
I hear footsteps... on the stairs...
They're gettin' louder and louder... Above me... They're stomping
I pray it's just Robert until I hear him scream my name
NEIGHBOR GUY!
And I go running up the stairs, jumping three at a time
And I'm fully unprepared for the terrors I will find
I burst into the room and by the light of the moon
It's a ghost as real as both me and you
And it wasn't the butler that he sacked without cause
Or that surly groundskeeper or that mafia boss
Or his old business partner that he stabbed in the back
Or the ghost of Christmas Future, Present or Past
And it wasn't the guy from the mishap at the zoo
Or that other guy from the other mishap at the zoo
No, of all the spooky specters Robert wronged in his life
The ghost floating between us was his darling dead wife
And she said
Robert, I'm so sorry
Didn't mean to scare you
I'm just not used to bein' alone
Robert, ya see, death's a one way street
And I can't find my way back home
Robert, I figured I'd just come getcha
I thought a haunting might do the trick
Robert, I'm sorry, I thought it'd be easier
I don't remember you bein' this quick...
The old house next door's got a sign out front now
A for sale sign tied to a post
So, attention shoppers, you can make an offer
On a 2 bed, 2 bath and a Ghost
Hope this helps if you wanna sing it
Amazing ty
@Mia Gonzales YUP ITS ME
😭😫💗💔❤️
an absolute amazing song thank you
and props to the animator they did such an amazing job!
this made me feel the same saudade i felt from Dear McCracken, a strangely nice feeling
I just want to say I recently found your music and it is the greatest thing I’ve ever heard. there is so much life in your words and the stories you tell are down to earth(even this one to a degree lol). never stop making music man!
Clever lyrics really everything about this song I like
I love how deepblueink made Robert’s wife slightly transparent when she wasn’t revealed yet to show that the figure is a ghost, and shows explanations to why everything that was happening was happening even though it was a ghost- Robert’s wife is really good at hiding herself to others
The "robert im so sorry" really hit hard
your music has brought me so much peace. im so excited for this to come out, and im so glad that theres only 11 hours left. this already looks incredible, thank you so much for making music
I love your animations so much!
I really like the little hearts in the right eye of the ghost around 2:31. Very sweet foreshadowing.
1:39
This gives me country song Vibes for some reason like at the way he is talking do you understand what I kind of mean
This is the perfect mix of emotional and funny, wrapped nicely in a sweet song. I love it
Holy fuck this is incredible! Not only is the actual song great enough to keep rewatching for hours on end, but the story itself legit made me cry. Ill check out some more of your work for sure!
I really enjoyed this! I’ve been working on a collection of poetry that is very silly, lyrical, but has a dark undertone. This is one of those pieces that’s so good I’m envious I didn’t write it.
This is such a good animation, I actually can't stop watching it. I've been watching it since it was posted (7 months) and it made it in my RUclips recall :]
Yeah I’ve been so curious to hear what people thought who waited until the video! So glad it works as a whole package!
I'm thinking the way Neighbor Guy noped out at the end when Darling Dead Wife started swinging the pillow around that she succeeded in getting Robert.
I was thinking the same thing. It's only one ghost. Maybe Robert wasn't ready...
Listening to this song made me cry so hard, it felt so good to let all that balled up feelings out... It was on a random playlist I found and I didnt even care i was in the middle of work I just had to stop and let it out
Thank you Bug youve got me tbrough such a dark time in my life
I'm so unused to seeing DBI animations that aren't silly. It was the only reason I clicked, but it is a nice song to listen to.
DBI?
@@Speed001 Deep Blue Ink 👍🏻
Awww, I've been putting off listening to this song and I'm mildly glad I did it. Of course Bug's out here making me cry.
I'd like to direct you to the fact that whatever the zoo mishaps involved, the alligator and giraffe apparently ALSO died.
It was a bad day
Poison maybe.
I loved the part in the cellar where the washing machine say running in green, then when it gets to the footsteps on the stairs, it says RUN in red!
also is the canonical name for bug in the animation neighbour guy?
great work tho bug!
This is honestly one of the best stories told by a song + animation I’ve ever seen, this deserves to be way more popular
This was the first Bug song I ever heard, and I listen to it on repeat now. There’s so many different ways to interpret the end too, I love how Bug leaves so many of his songs for interpretation, as well as possible connections to others. Here are a few possibilities:
1. Robert left his wife but she was still tied to the house
2. Killing Robert let his wife pass on, but he couldn’t, and the house is for sale because there is nobody to receive it in his will
3. Robert and his wife both passed, but Robert’s death somehow killed neighbor guy as well
And a bunch that I’m too tired to type because it’s 12:30 and I have work to do later today
bro. your songs made my childhood but i forgot your name but i instantly recognized you art style. i'm so glad i found you again
lol way to make me feel old 🤣
@@BugHunter thats the first time a creator replied to my comment
I know I'm late to the party but.. Bug, I love all of your stuff so much!
This song is incredible, the layering of instruments, the chorus, the little funny bits too! I love it all!
Bug Hunters voice makes me happy. No matter what I am doing or how I feel, play some Bug Hunter and I'm all smiles. Not much music touches me that way. There's plenty that can make me angry or sad but only Bug Hunter makes me instantly okay!
I clicked on this expecting a funny clip from a podcast(That's a lot of what DeepBlueInk does). Instead, I got a really catchy song, with a twist I didn't expect until right before it happened. I love it.
i was listening to the beginning of this song, and i was like “oh this is a silly song about some crazy coot. why does it sound depressing?”
i listened to that ending.
im bawling my eyes out.
Well crying for 15 minutes was not on my schedule today. Mn my dude this song combined with the animation hits hard anazing work.
