Yess, thanks for sending them in! Wish you'd have sent in the last question a few days earlier haha because it would have been great content, but it is what it is! Maybe I'll save it for another episode??

Thanks so much for your super in-depth answer! Really helpful to hear from someone who really has played volleyball all over the world. All the tangents were very helpful for me as well, actually, haha. I can tell you are a very thoughtful and detail-oriented person. I actually go to school in Los Angeles! Maybe I should go to the beaches more often... I liked your answer about food too. I love pasta and rice is great too. I have to be cautious about overdoing it on the carbs. I think you're right in some ways in that everyone has to sort of navigate their own journey with nutrition for themselves.
Thanks again for answering and I'll be looking forward to seeing what you do with this channel next!

      Thanks, awesome to hear! :)
Yeah hahah I like my details (😅), so it's good when some people appreciate them haha!
If you are in LA, I'd definitely try to make it out to the beach every now and then, what do you study there?
Yess, I lool forward to the future of this channel too, lots of cool things on the way! :)

Thanks, that's good! Some of the questions really didn't have a straight answer, but I hope the talking around the question helps in these cases! :)

@@LearnBeachVolleyballFast we're going to take the second approach that you mentioned: seeing the court, ball placement, more grounded solid hits

Thank you for another great episode.
I am also guilty to be a coach who talks (too much). Just like you said, if one explains anything, then why it is relevant, and even potentially compare with alternatives. All of this cannot be conveyed in 10s (I don't believe in 10s explanations :P)
That said, it is hard for me not to intervene, not to stop a drill and not to start talking more when the following happens (among other things):
    student starts showing other "mistakes"
ot optimized techniques that were not the primary focus of the drill. Ill give an example:
My student was working on bump setting, before the drill starts, I discussed the technique, ideal\optimal positioning, height of the set etc.... That took a bit of time (not 10s). We start the drill, and I start noticing that his running approach to the set also needs adjustments. Rather than continue the drill with an un-optimized way (at least in my book), I stopped it and started talking and explaining the approach too... Here we go for another 2min...
I realize, I should have taken more time to analyze what led to his "un-optimized" setting and have a better speech that also included the approach.
Realistically though, there are always things that Ill start noticing after the drill has started.... Of course, it is up to me the coach to decide to let it go today, or whether it is important to fix it too..

Hahah I know totally what you mean. Not always easy. If I coach a group where the people are new to me, or I haven't seen them play in a while, I usually start with a fair bit of just quietly analyzing.. Just to avoid "shooting the wrong target" in the coaching/teaching/practice theme/feedback..
I think also IF one realizes that the theme/focus needs to be changed mid practice, it might be a good idea to be honest and say you made mistake in the beginning and that we are changing because you realized this other thing that we are changing to is closer to the root cause of the problem..

Hey Alex, what are the living expenses for a beach volleyball month in bali you're going for low budget? :)
Thinking about spending some time there during the european winter.
Hope things are going a bit better for you now!
    Greetings, Torge

Hey! So I haven't been there in a bit over a year, and prices might have gone up a little bit with inflation etc, but if you want to basically just go and train and play and can stay in a small room that has AC and nice neighbors but is small, I'd say you can push it down to 400 euros per month for rent, food (Indonesian food), moped rent, gas, gym membership if you wanna do it on a budget and know how to do it. Then you have flight costs and maybe visa costs (depending on how long you stay) on top of that. I'd say upping the budget from 400 to 600-700 euros per month will make a more stress free experience but just to show what is somewhat easily attainable. Of course locals that can do more long term investments like buying a scooter, renting an unfurnished room etc can do it all on even smaller of a budget. :)
