Enjoyed listening to this. In my younger days when I went camping alone, I put up a clothes line and hung very large clothes on it, Size 3X and a pair of size 13-14 boots on the hood of my car, people would walk by and look, but only one guy ever came past it to talk to me and he turned out to be a cop. It was a very effective security scam.

Yup. As a single woman jn my early to mid 20s, I had a work truck and personal car, a pair of work boots outside the front door and men's 2x clothes i hung outside outside I did laundry. It was my work truck, and my dad's old work boots and clothes, but no one bothered me. Haha.
I didn’t understand exactly what this post meant at first, until I put my mind into the head space of a woman or a guy prowling for a victim. This is super smart I applaud you and everyone else that is this *intelligent* to be this forward thinking with their protection. Y’all stay cute.

Ran across Clints 100 deadly skills books in a Barnes and Nobles, and they were really good. Its extremely beneficial to watch this seminar to cement some of those skills. Thanks for the video. Should be required viewing imo.

My mother's brother was a SEAL in Vietnam. I remember us staying with him in his trailer at Little Creek when I was probably about five. My father was an aviator who was very impressed and made sure I knew what he did. He eventually became an undertaker and a missionary. He was the nicest guy in the world. And just now, only a few minutes ago I woke thinking about a girl I knew in high school, and it turns out her father was the CO of EOD Group 2. Previous to that, when he had first got too senior for EOD/SEALS, he became a submariner. Eventually I became a submariner. Now they are pretty much all dead and I am just old. *Sigh*.
The 3-2-1 backup rule is three (3) copies of your data, on two (2) different types of storage/media and one (1) of them should be off-site (not with the others).

My introduction to Special Ops was 55 years ago. Both my husbands are Vietnam Combat Vets. The first one did 2 tours as a Door Gunner flying Green Berets into Laos and Cambodia, ‘67-‘69. 2nd was an MP attached to the Riverine Assault Force, Nha Be on the Mekong Delta, tasked with moving Seals down river, ‘66-‘67. Few knew of Special Ops in Vietnam.

Our daughter is turning sixteen in a couple of days, which means a bit more freedom on her part. However, if she wants to go driving alone, she’s going to have to watch this first. There are so many things she can learn that will save her life if need be. Hopefully, she will never be tested, but if she is, she will have more than a fighting chance.
I recommend she watch Active Self Protection videos as well. He goes in depth about being safe and what to do in many situations, even if he also speaks from the pov of a armed defender.
Also if you're going to let her go driving alone I suggest you have her read the Kama Sutra back seats can be pretty tough sometimes LOL

Yo, when he started telling the story about driving in a new car with a new phone into the middle eastern mob riot protest, I was getting flashbacks from that situation in 2004. That exact thing happened to me! But I did have plenty of gas and a working phone. I actually called my watchdeck and told them the situation and telling them my goodbyes. It was real stressful. They flipped cop SUV's and burned them. It was wild. I did it differently than he did. I put a shield in front of me to hide, put visors turned to the side windows and, sunk down small into the space under the steering wheel. There was a base warning text that they sent out by text but I didn't get it until I was already in it. There were people looking in the car but they didn't seem interested in me. When I got through it, just like him, you wouldn't know it was happening just a few blocks away. In my situation, the protest was on the highway with no nearby exits. The protestors dressed in all black filled up the 4 lane highway and overflowed on the sides with twice as my people.
That would've been so scary. Praise God that you got out ok!
Excellent talk, People laugh at me for always been so worried about my surroundings but yes I want to live, I always try to expect the unexpected, especially when opening a door ......( might be a cockroach running at me, hate them.) Even when driving expect the next car to do something crazy. Great talk, thanks, you saved many lives with this talk.

I remember many years ago giving my niece an extra driving lesson of sorts, and my mother happened to be along with us. As I was driving down the street on the way to our instruction area, I started talking, saying things like: (1) If you see a ball rolling out in the street expect a kid to be running after it; (2) See that parked car with someone sitting in the driver's seat? Expect them to pull out with noticing you; (3) This is a 4-way stop, but don't assume that someone approaching will necessarily stop; Etc. At the end of the day it was my elderly mother who realized how unaware she was with her driving. Pay attention folks. Motorcyclists: drivers often do not see you. If you are not a car or a truck, sometimes you just don't register since that is what they are looking for. Texting.....Aaaarrrggghhhhh. Phone calls.....the same.

when I was in my 20s and had an AMC javelin, came home late from going out bar, college days, I would whip into my parking spot and pretend I had a fight with my boyfriend so no one would mess with me when I walked to my door. LOL. Also, I had this big person in a car with gold front teeth driving trying to intimidate me but I turned the tables and pretended I was an investigator and followed him pretended to write down. He took off. that was in the 80s. I know a different time. But asymmetrical warfare throws people off.
Very good book. I am reading it now. Some of it seems way over the top...like how to wing suit into foreign territory. But most is highly practical like logistics and stashing tools...and making tools and weapons and protection from available items.
Great seminar, my favorite tip was the wasp spray for home defence. I immediately told all the girls I know who live alone to get a can of wasp spray and keep it next to your bed.

Sir thank you for your service. One thing I would like to point out to you at about 21:30 when you had your three volunteer standing up there and we're talking about being conspicuous and or inconspicuous. It is my opinion that that sleeve tattoo that you have is a great identifier to me... It's understood that most people wouldn't pay this much attention however I am. And I do understand that there are covers besides the ones go on your head and if you were in some sort of a situation I'm sure that those precautions would be taken. The situation awareness however that I understand would prevent me from having any visible tattoo. Just food for thought sir thank you moving forward...
I agree with your point. A few years ago I read somewhere that guys qualifying for Special Ops had to remove their tattoos, a painful ordeal. So just because he has tattoos now doesn’t mean he did when he was active duty.
Whenever I enter a room I scan everything in there and exits just in case I sit with my back against the corner or wall next to escape route I come up with just in case, not paranoid just cautious of my environment I’ve been that way all my life after being shot at twice they missed bad shots!
Husband thinks I'm nuts, because I do this. As a small female, I don't want to be in a compromising situation, if I can avoid it. My father always instilled in me "run, hide, fight", so I'm always prepared to run if needed.

Thanks Clint. When I joined the navy it was Ronald Reagans. I had been a firefighter medic for years in the volunteer system and worked as a medic for a paycheck. I didn't really like rescue so much I liked battling structure fires. However at the time I was the wrong color wrong sex to get hired full time in suppression. I applied through P.G. County Maryland where I was a volunteer. I was supposed to get credit for !) volunteer active, 2) residing in P.G. County 3) already working in the fire department as a medic. 4) having the schools to qualify ( I found out later that the secretary did not keep good records, but I must shoulder some of the blame because I should of double checked. I applied in Maryland, New Jersey , Virginia , D.C.. And flew to Los Angeles where there were twenty five hundred people camped out two days in advance of the issuing of applications. I applied at Chino, Venus , Hollywood , San Bernadino city and county. County wanted me immediately, but I didn't want to be dropped off with a rake and an Indian can for five months , I wanted structure fire. I applied at los Vegas wrong color wrong sex. This was an unofficial proclamation spoken to me from the head of personal of my own county. She knew my voice from the radio and I used to hang out and volunteer at the 911 center back before computers, it was a switchboard. She was a black woman who had worked her way legitimately to the top of her field and didn't like these quota systems at all. She told me Joe, I would hire you in a second, but my hands are tied here. So I joined the Navy. The only stipulation I had with the recruiter was I did not want to be bored. So I went to school to operate and maintain catapults on an aircraft carrier. I must admit I was never bored. In boot camp however, we had a Navy Seal come in and speak with us and do a kind of an outline of what frogmen do. I was six foot two and one hundred and seventy pounds, but this guy was five eleven maybe and two hundred pounds without an ounce of fat on him. Had I known then what I know now I would've raised my hand. I had spent the previous four years saving lives (or trying to), and I worried that I may not have what it takes to slip up and cut someone's throat. Now I have no illusions of what we were doing and why. I know I'm as every bit as culpable as the warrior who kills, or the pilot that shoots the rockets, or the man that orders it. The main reason I didn't raise my hand as stupid as it may sound was that you may lose your guaranteed school. If I had to be a clerk, I'd have slit my wrists. This decision has bothered me since that day. The first house fire I went on was two in the morning. I was sixteen only three people on the truck, the driver, the officer ( because time decides rank sometimes) and me. I was the lay out man. We stopped at the hydrant, I wrapped the hose around it and ran after the truck as the hose flaked off. I'm one hundred and five lbs. at this time and my gear weighs more than I do. The officer said his Scott wouldn't work ( air supply) so I grabbed the line and went in alone. The first thing they teach you in basic is to never ever, no exemptions go in alone. The neighbors were out and screaming that there was children possibly inside. So I broke every protocol, grabbed the hose and went in. I was crawling around for what seamed an hour spraying every thing that glowed and searched bedrooms, under the beds,closets, and bathrooms. Those are the typical hiding places for scared children. The house is completely dark and I couldn't see a thing so had to feel my way.i got to the last bedroom with my regulator screaming at me to tell me I had no more air....? Believe me I could tell. I unhooked the hose and stuck it inside my coat and under my arm as they told us. Then a massive relief came upon me. I had backup. We screamed at one another and he told me to get out and so I did. Without understanding it I gained a lot of respect that night. When I joined I never gave much thought of the danger. I knew it was dangerous but also necessary to save lives and property. I didn't ever think of not going in. That was the job. You go in and search, save all that you can. Fast foreword five years and I'm in boot camp. One of the oldest ones there by chance and six foot two or three but still skinny. I really have no regrets about the job I've done and a couple close friends. I have many friends from my fire fighting days, but only a few from the Navy. That's my regret. I wish I would've raised my hands because what I was really looking for was that closeness of a group of guys who's life depended on you and you on them without a doubt, live together or die together. All I did was launch planes off of a carrier, operate and maintain the catapult systems.i was never bored, so I cannot fault the recruiter. We worked long and hard hours. Way off topic sorry. I go to the VA clinic and if there is a bunch of guys around I just don't insert myself into the group. It seems as though I'm the only muthafuka who had a job. Everyone is ex special forces ! What could I possibly contribute to that conversation ? I've got no heroic stories from my time in the Navy, though I've got a few that are interesting. Even the fire department, I've got no story that has me jumping clear through a window with a child in my arms with the house blowing up behind me. Actually that was close once, but even then it was a cat. I think it would be cool if you could start a wall of shame and somehow add it to the VA's electric revolving light board, maybe pump it through the American legion, or VFW or both.
No what? You did what you did. You did naked a good difference! Sometimes we don't know or hear about it BUT.... you did and are making a difference! You have a heart of a protector. Hindsight is 20/20. It sure is nice/ would be nice to have comraderie and to shoptalk the past, but hey... you still belong and have stuff to contribute.
The idea of getting education wasn't bad either. I've let fear or comfort/ security dictate my choices at times...probably too many times.
That's not my or your "end of story" history. There's more to come. You ran into a building intent to save... it would've been nice to have gotten the closure of emerging with the children. But you were brave and lead the way.
Remember or know, we have an enemy that wants to discourage and bring us down... make us ashamed of what we've done or... who we are. Get you identify from the Lord.
This Enemy is a liar and his name is Satan. He's a deceiver and hates us. He's also been overcome and is all powerful. Jesus sacrificial blood... laying His own life down because of his love for us wretched mankind showed power...and beat death and separation from God. Jesus grounded up death and spit it out (my literary added) on the 3rd day, resurrected! Hive him/ God your and shame. He came to give us hope. And he loves you dear man.
The Enemy, Satan, presents a facade of strength and power BUT he's going down...His time is limited.
The only wall you should want or need is this; approval from the Lord. Its a book not a wall and called the Lamb's Book of Life. If you've repented for your sins, turned your life into His hands, rely on Him and (what/who He says you, and asked Jesus to be your Saviour....
.... then you are a set! You're loved and part of a big family forever ❤ .
It's eternal and not based on performance or accolades of others. Secure. ..
No to that Wall of Shame! Shake that off.
Let the Lord tell you how precious and pre-planned you are...

One of the most vitally important things id do are:
Prevent yourself from ending up in any situation that you have to use or do things Clint Emerson explains about doing in his books. Because if you don't do that and a bad guy gets you...you are in grave danger. You would need to physically escape and/of lie, and be able to get whoever has you under their control to care about you and see you as a person that they don't want to harm and kill.
Unfortunately bad guys seldom care like normal people in fact, they enjoy torture and groveling

Good lawyers are just as important to your defense as good firearms, especially if you find yourself in a situation where somebody makes you shoot them with your carry/home defense guns. I don't want to pull a trigger on anyone, no responsible and sane gun owner does, but it's a necessary option if it's you or them. Even if you are 100% legally justified in shooting the guy(s) that are happily going to kill you, it may be you that gets hit with a murder charge ( fucked up, but it's been known to happen ). In that instance, good lawyers are more valuable than anything in the aftermath of a self defense shooting

Weather stripping will not stop an under the door attack, it will cause at most a couple second annoyance. Unless he means a door knob as opposed to a lever, if it’s a lever, stripping won’t help you at all. Everything else he said is spot on though

Carpenter that did some really awesome work for me lectured me that I shouldn't have put my doors in with screws but rather nails as it's easier to shim,etc.
Made me loose a lot of respect for him very quickly.

@@DaClean Because nails come loose with time & wear/tear of a moving component. Except for ribbed nails like paneling nails; they can come out enough over time to cause problems latching or increase drafts.
For security reasons, exterior doors should have screws that go into the adjoining studs to add to stability. I do at least one on each hinge, usually one of the middle ones. Such screws put in to the plates for the dead bolts & latch plates will also aid in making it harder to successfully kick in. I do it on interior doors because of kids being rough on stuff and it's helped there too.
