I got a 04 Navi limited for 1000 bucks that I got just for the engine (to swap into my 01 super crew f150) and it was trashed. I couldn’t help but think of how it was once someone’s pride and joy. Likewise with the trashed 00 explorer limited I got for the 5.0 for my ranger, for 450 bucks. You could tell they were some really nice damn cars back in their day. Still ran great, just bad last owners. Like these two junk suvs I had sitting in the corner of my yard for a few months that I had less than 1500 bucks into 20 years ago would’ve had me looking posh with 100k sitting in the driveway. Just crazy to think about
Ive ridden and driven in an XLR and an XLR-V. The XLR interior felt really cheap but it drove nice, that northstar had plenty of power. The V modle though, yeah it would pin you in the seats. I didnt care that the interior wasnt made of the best quality plastics, diving that V modle was so much fun. And id give my left n-t for a proper 2005ish Ford GT, been a dream car since they were new.
That large 1970's Cadillac coupe you showed while discussing "rear wheel drive V8 luxury" cars of the era was in fact a front wheel drive car, they made FWD cars long before their 90's offerings.
SRX V would have been sick. I've owned a 2020 Ford Explorer ST for about a year and a half, and I love it so much. Twin turbo 3L v6 making 400 hp and 10 speed auto transmission, that are also in the Lincoln Aviator. The awd system is built on a rwd platform with most of the drive modes (slippery being an exception, because power to all 4 wheels is important in those conditions), so power to the rear wheels take priority, and its super easy to get oversteer, if i want it. So comfortable too! They didnt go too crazy with stiffening the suspension, and 20 inch wheels instead of 21 or 22 give a little more tire sidewall to soak up the god awful bumps where Ilive. The lane keeping system and the radar system to follow behind the car in front of it while in cruise control are super good. If you didn't have to keep a hand on the wheel, it would almost be like Tesla's self driving. The b&o top tier stereo is really nice, despite hearing that ford bought the rights to use the name, so the extent of their involvement is questionable. Microsoft Sync 3 is fantastic, imo. I've always been the person with a digital music library over a terabyte, instead of streaming everything. The only external I have in use has like 12k songs on it, and you can use voice commands to play an artist, album or song. Would be great if we could be trusted enough to also play video on the main infotainment screen. Maybe someday, someone will make a custom OS of sorts, that will allow more freedom. I think I've rambled long enough now
2001 Ford Expedition came out, took her over seas to Croatia and surrounding countries. It was something that nobody had seen during that time in Europe. It was often called a Jeep Tank by the locals. Good memories, could have been built with a little more quality, but still a good Suv at the time it was new
My pappy had a 7.3 deisel Excursion he bought from my brother's friend for $600! After fixing all of the problems, he drove it for 10 years, then sold it for $6,000 and still regrets parting with it. Believe it or not, he regularly got over 20 mpg.
I almost bought a black crossfire SRT6 in my early 20s. Living in chicago, having the bulky coats I was too cramped. would have been a great summer car. Also checked out the saturn sky ruby red edition red line that year. oh memories.
I'm glad you include the Gmt800 Escalade. I have one. they are runners for sure. Comfortable and pretty quick, we have the 6.0 AWD V8 and its custom made with a 2.9 supercharger, headers and Corsa 3" pipes, new tires and ready for winter fun. If you take care of these trucks they for sure pay you back in ride and comfort. Gas sucks on them. but with the amount of overall appeal and road presence these trucks still have its worth it if you can afford the gas for it. lol
Gmt800s in general are a great platform they made so many trucks and SUVs that finding a good one for a decent price isnt that difficult and because they made so many with plenty of different options oem parts are interchangeable not to mention the aftermarket support to keep them running for over 200k miles. I have a friend with an 06 Silverado lbz flatbed with an interior thats half Cadillac Escalade and half Silverado SS and it was a direct bolt on its a work truck on the outside and full luxury and leather everything on the inside. The funniest part is i took his old steering wheel and bolted on my riding mower it fit perfectly lol.
@@CJColvin frfr yup, my escalade is at 284k, and have my next oil change in a 1000 miles. this truck has a blast to drive. LQ9 platform NS V8 was the best thing that caddi did to these trucks.

The LH2 is not a heavily modified L37/LD8 N* it’s it’s own engine in the North Star family. The Lc3 is a supercharged variant of the LH2 that is only 4.4L. Also the N* isn’t a bad motor or highly unreliable. Yes 93-99 had head gasket issues, it was “fixed” in 2000 and then it was seriously fixed in 2005. I love the N* owned 3 cars with that motor. 98 STS with 300hp L37, 05 deville with 275hp LD8 and a 05 STS4 with 320hp LH2.
You beat me to it… I’m on my third as well. 05 STS4, 06 STS-V, and still have my 07 SRX with 165k now. I’ve thrashed them all but also maintain them really well. Replace a coil every once in a while and it’s good to go. Very few problems, and never anything major with all three having crossed 100k.
@@jessefrantz3156 You've had all the better Northstar's (2004+) - Nothing before 2004 was reliable and idk why he thinks GM fixed their biggest fatal flaw in 2000 - Northstars were still catastrophically defective in 2000, although some owners spent the money to bullet-proof them.
Cadillac needs to bring back the XLR and El Dorado. Ford needs to bring back the Thunderbird and Crown Vic. Buick should bring back the Riviera. And I really want Packard and Studebaker and Dusenberg back. Dusenberg would be the American Rolls-Royce. Packard the American Jaguar and Mercedes.

One place you're mistaken. The T-Bird didn't share it's platform with the LS and Jag XF, It shared it with the LS and Jag Type S. The Retro Bird, Lincoln LS and Jag Type S were all essentially the same cars with different bodies.

Listen I drove an srx, the best ride I ever had in my life... Speed, handling, luxury, and that sunroof! If it hadn't been destroyed by a drunk driver, I'd still own it.
Yup. And then they switched to the Epsilon (FWD) platform for the second gen, and sales improved. Can’t for the life of me understand why. Also, it’s technically the XT5 that succeeded the second gen SRX. I searched high and low back in 2015 for my 07 SRX sport with the V8, Magride, and all the other goodies. Awesome cars when well equipped, but never sold very well. I think they would have done better if they had started off with the way improved interior like mine has.
1 reason the caddie cts-v deserves a class over the 300c is the cts-v offer a manual transmission in all their model styles while the 300 never offered it.

I just looked on their website, and man do they sell out fast. those LBZs are gone in a heart beat
I’ve seen the SRT6 Crossfire at the Tampa International Auto Show! It’s nothing crazy but not common
9:13 that Lincoln Navigator ad is so fricken funny
I detailed a Chrysler crossfire for a customer not that long ago, it was a manual, had low miles too
The excursion is definitely top-tier worthy
That break free Cadillac commercial would run nonstop on Cartoon Network back in the day.
I wonder how much better the XLR would've been if they put an LS motor in it. Its a beautiful car with so much potential just a horrible engine
Just discovered your channel! Awesome video!
Never thought I’d hear that a Grand Wagoneer is LIGHTER than the Excursion. Crazy
I almost bought a black crossfire SRT6 in my early 20s. Living in chicago, having the bulky coats I was too cramped. would have been a great summer car. Also checked out the saturn sky ruby red edition red line that year. oh memories.
love the new video! do more 2000s cars
Thanks! Will do!
What about the excursion with the v10 engine? I didn’t see it in the trim levels.
Gas sucks on them. but with the amount of overall appeal and road presence these trucks still have its worth it if you can afford the gas for it. lol
I think they are awesome too😄
Gmt800s in general are a great platform they made so many trucks and SUVs that finding a good one for a decent price isnt that difficult and because they made so many with plenty of different options oem parts are interchangeable not to mention the aftermarket support to keep them running for over 200k miles.
@SAMPLETEXT285 The GMT800s are the last of the great GM Trucks and then after that they became garbage.
@@CJColvin frfr yup, my escalade is at 284k, and have my next oil change in a 1000 miles. this truck has a blast to drive. LQ9 platform NS V8 was the best thing that caddi did to these trucks.
@@ZAKU-GD Yep you got it brother
Another great video, but the Thunderbird and Lincoln LS shared a platform with the Jaguar S-Type, not the XF.
Thank you man! Yeah, it was a mistake on my behalf
Ummm...The XF is the successor of the S-Type so he's correct. And why I said correct?
Ford's DEW98 Platform. The LS, Thunderbird, S-Type, and the XF (X250) were all used with that platform.
@@xraider927yea the xf shared the platform and for 2 years the engine the only issue i saw with the video is he showed the picture of the x type while saying XF while meaning s type 😭
That 2006 Lincoln Navigator hit different
I was 14 when the Crossfire came out. I hated it when I saw it in person and hated it in I think Forza or was it midnight club 3. But now that I'm older in my 30's it aged like fine wine. Compared to cars these days it looks stunning.
i love my 2004 cts v!
I always thought the Escalade came before the navigator, honestly I like both for their own different reasons
You beat me to it…
I’m on my third as well. 05 STS4, 06 STS-V, and still have my 07 SRX with 165k now. I’ve thrashed them all but also maintain them really well. Replace a coil every once in a while and it’s good to go. Very few problems, and never anything major with all three having crossed 100k.
I miss my '08 STS V. :(
@@jessefrantz3156 You've had all the better Northstar's (2004+) - Nothing before 2004 was reliable and idk why he thinks GM fixed their biggest fatal flaw in 2000 - Northstars were still catastrophically defective in 2000, although some owners spent the money to bullet-proof them.
Loved the 2002 Thunderbird revival!
I had a sts v, the thunderbird was from the Lincoln ls and jaguar type s platform, modern look and hold good value till now.
“The C 300 look like a Phantom, until a real Phantom pull up next to you” 😂
I was surprised to not see any Corvettes making the list.
I’ve actually seen quite a few Crossfires over the years which is strange considering their relative rarity.
I live in south Florida. You could see many of these on any given day lol. I always thought it was normal
No SSR
It was absolutely gorgeous truck. From 2003-2006 nothing else looked as radical as the SSR. Two seat convertible pickup truck with retro styling. The SSR was very cool
One place you're mistaken. The T-Bird didn't share it's platform with the LS and Jag XF, It shared it with the LS and Jag Type S. The Retro Bird, Lincoln LS and Jag Type S were all essentially the same cars with different bodies.
I had a cts 2007 3.5 it was awesome going back to my home town on back highway ...i had off set 20 inch rims was perfect for the highway dance lol...
One night we marked 152 still wanted to more....265 hp no to shabby
Listen I drove an srx, the best ride I ever had in my life... Speed, handling, luxury, and that sunroof! If it hadn't been destroyed by a drunk driver, I'd still own it.
Saleen s7, even tho it wasn't a big company
I never knew the first gen XT6 errr.... SRX had a Northstar. Neither did I know they were on a rwd chassis.
Thanks for another great list.
Glad you enjoyed it man!
1 reason the caddie cts-v deserves a class over the 300c is the cts-v offer a manual transmission in all their model styles while the 300 never offered it.
The Excursion was ridiculous. The front seats had zero foot room because of the transmission.
Toyota Landcruiser of the 2000s was also expensive but they are worth it.
These cars were at their original msrp recently! More than newer cars
the chrysler 300 is still like semi common to see in the UK, i'm not sure the story behind that but it's always intrigued me how many i see around
love the timeline u cover!
I love the 300 and Crossfire.
The "Hummer" that I like to call the hideous looking Tahoe. And the Ford GT has to be one of the few cars that went up in value.
The 7.3 motor in excursion is way more reliable over the 6.0 by a longshot
The 300 was a badass idea. Never owned one. I still kinda want to still in 2024
Hummer was the pinnacle of american SUV i loved it ❤
Ford GT in red with white stripes is perfect.
I daily a V10 Excursion. No plans to ever let it go
They not make a viper during those years?
Good point. I definitely should have brought up the Viper at least.
Actually prior to the 1999 model years suburban did have the diesel option. Although it was a gutless wonder it boasted high fuel efficiency
Can you do a video on the Lincoln MKS
Possibly in the future 😅
it would be nice to see these prices adjusted for inflation to see how they compare to todays car prices
They are!
@@GreenHawkDrive yea, I felt like a fool when i noticed that when watching another one of these
