I don't know what is wrong in mercedes. The new E-class steering wheel looks awful and nearly all cars they release now seem to look terrible. I think Audi is also going backwards with design. Audis used to be so beautiful.

My Name completely Agree. I have a 2018 E class and it’s beautiful. This new generation hasn’t impressed me. The headlamps and taillights are bad... its like the A class, the interior hasn’t changed much which I understand because it’s not a new generation just a facelift. However they even took off the analog clock which gave it such a classic look. I’ll be test driving bmw and Audi when my lease is up but I’ll probably end up getting the Mercedes if the lease deal is good.

Can't wait for that live review guys! I dont like how they left interior a bit conservative-old fashioned. I understand it's a well thought design feature, however expected some more changes towards future/modern like design, just like they did in the new G20 line up. The 5-series Facelift came faster than i thought it would, i mean it came out the same time as the E- class facelift, but the E-Class pre facelift came out 4 years ago in 2016 while the pre facelift 5-series came out in 2017...Guess they rushed the face lift in to production to keep up with the Mercedes E-class ? Usually you get a facelift after 4 years and not 3.
It think that F10 is the most ugliest BMW ever made. It looks like 2010s Volvo or something. Have to say I have liked 3-Series more afrer e39 5-Series.
So this makes it official that BMW's most beautiful feature according to me, the angel eyes, that is the light that surrounds the round lights...is dead, that's very sad...
Was surprised about the Emergency Stop Assistant not being standard. But BMW confirmed: "The new BMW 5 Series is fitted as standard with features including cruise control with brake function. The Emergency Stop Assistant is available as an option". Thank you for the great video again!
Great car, best in class and as usual great video! I think that BMW still allow factory collection in Munich but Mercedes have stopped it, certainly for us in the U.K. Great city Munich!
Great voice overs and entertaining info on the 5er & E facelifts - thanks Thomas. Expensive - plus cynical marketing: extras extras extras, options options options always with these cars. And no AEB on the 5er? But on all other BMWs. We'll have to wait for BLIS (blind spot) to be mandated too (like seat belts, sidebars, airbags, DRLs, TPMS, rear-cam in the US, not sure if ABS is mandatory...!). Kind regards.
The front is not as bad as i feared, i thought BMW was going to put 10 meter high & 30 meter wide gills/grill on the front since they have become bigger & bigger with each generation, seems like they calmed down with the facelift :D
When BMW launch the 3-series, they said many customers complain 3 series and 5 series look like the same, that why they made the 3 looks different than 5. Now the facelift 5 looks like the 3-series again, is BMW slapping own face?
overall quite disappointing (lights). Especially the rear lights are not elegant at all. looks more like a Hyundai or lexus or something. just like those of the X5 tbh. The 3 series is way more elegant AND sporty. The new angle eyes looks a bit like skoda octavia.
The DRLs make the car look like a dodge charger when looking from off to the side. They're not really bad from head on, but not a fan of these. The round, hexagonal, and cup-shaped DRLs look best.
The preface update looks way better. Not a great fan of the rectangular grill,don't hate it buys it's not as good as the preface The rear lighting situation is odd,very odd,it's like a 3 series goth vibe, should have changed the shape of the light not the design,or not change it all all.Loving the interior with that massive infotainment system screen,plus hey BMW is a bit more human like. In conclusion,tech wise, BMW made a great and needed improvement,however, this is a slight however,the design is a step back.
Everything is good except the front lights. I liked the old ones better. Wonder until when one could order a pre-facelift model. Are the LED matrix lights a new name of what used to be the 'Adaptive Icon LED lights' with the beamsplitting function? Or something else?
I don't like BMW. I never liked it. But G20 and G30 sedans are... oh my.. I would buy. Along with good, reliable inline-six engine and ZF8 gearbox. If taken care, this car can be quite reliable in terms of engine and gearbox (high quality engine oil change every 10 000 - 15 000km depending on conditions, gearbox oil change, tire control to maintain xdrive, other fluids change-on-time). And yes, I wouldn't buy V8 when I have an inline-6 option. Cheaper, easier and simpler engine with enough power and good work culture (and easier to resell). I would only like to see a good mild hybrid (high-NM electric engines) option parried with that B58 engine... since plug-ins sucks (heavier, useless EV range, charging and not "eco" in many countries due to power source [...]). 540ix and 520d all the way.
The facelift gives e60 vibes especially the m sport front styling and tail lights with the rear bumper bulge, been waiting for this styling to come back around for some time now and would like a white 530 m sport to match my white 2010 528 x drive m sport
Looks round and sleek but with perfect size proportions. Not too many overstyled angles but perfect bulges and curves and thats just the way i like it.. just right sporty style formula that needed not to be changed
Spud exterior no - owner’s of the non lci don’t have to worry about it, and before it doesn’t even looked that different then the f10 gen, so the car in general looks older then it actually is cause it just looks like another facelift of the f10

For years I've wondered why, with so many cameras operating in the car, there is no crash recorder to document collisions. Well, apparently now there's going to be a 'Drive Recorder' option with on-demand Event Recording as well as automatic Crash Recording !
I currently have The 2017 530i M sport I’m thinking about getting this one it looks a little more sleek I still like my led fog lights I wish they would of left the Angel eyes then it would of really been 🔥🔥🔥🔥

A premium pack like offered with facelifted 3 series would have been most welcome and more economic than ordering so many paid for options separately. Like the new exterior. Not too sure about just 50km electric hybrid range, unless offered without a hefty premium.
Very questionable design elements added and the interior is a near carbon copy of other new BMW products. They can at least improve the IP graphics or something to maintain continuous improvement.
TOYOTA Corolla have city emergency braking,adaptive cruise control,lane keeping assist,lane departure warning as standard. Honda Civic,Mazda3 and Ford Everest also.
I specifically asked BMW for that and they confirmed it is optional with the 5 Series. It is standard on every all new BMW model I think. And maybe in some countries where it is mandatory. Like in the US also rear view camera is mandatory with new cars now.
Why isn't the facelifted M550i going to be available as a Touring estate in the UK like it will be in other markets, and will only be availablle as a saloon in the UK?
Autogefühl Yes the Touring body style was available for the pre-facelift and previous generation 550i also, but that was back when it wasn’t offered in the UK. BMW UK have confirmed that the M550i WILL come to the UK for the facelift, but it will only be offered as a saloon - there won’t be a Touring version of the M550i this time. EDIT: I just read that BMW will *NOT* be offering the facelifted M550i as a Touring estate, and will only offer it as a saloon this time... 😔

nice facelift however I am not fan of the msport steering wheel and bmw digital instruments. on other side, merc's new amg steering wheel is bad as well
why 540i has less power output than before in Europe? what is the power loss on wheels due to the mild hybrid? Is there a bigger power loss on wheels compare to the standard / traditional (only) combustion engine?

Why is BMW still keeping the outdated gear shifter? The steptronic shifter has always been the most ugliest part of the G30.
I never really liked the pre facelift front end, but this new one nailed it 👌

this is only a revised version/facelift, you shouldnt be expecting much
The splitters are a little too much imo but they're optional and the car in general looks very good.
Thomas, Wireless Airplay doesn't mean charging at the same time. You can keep your USB wire to charge your phone while using Airplay wireless
Yeah I know you don't have to do that. But it is meant to work that way, that's the reason they do it wireless
