    This lad is smart, he is 100 percent right, Junk silver has less silver content than the pure .999 coins, but it has the numismatic value, the old junk silver coins are not in production anymore, meaning they have more value

    One thing I like to point out about junk silver coins is that there are really three values attached to each coin: its weight in silver, its dollar face value, and it collector value. As far as I have been collecting, junk silver coins have always been worth more than their melt. Worst comes to worst, the coins themselves are actual money. As far as I am aware, a random silver bar will usually just be worth its weight in silver. With some bullion coins like the silver eagles you are asked to pay a significant premium for a coin that is intended from day one to be uncirculated and everyone and their mother is collecting it. So the chances of appreciation for a coin like that are slim.

    Hey slayer nice video. I just started getting into silver. I got 10 walking liberties for $6.75 each and two of them have D on them and I got 4 Kennedy half dollars for $6.50 a piece. Are those good prices or am I getting ripped off. I'm mainly just trying to get as much weight not numismatic. What are your thoughts? Thanks

    • @mykittenisagrandmaster4381
      @mykittenisagrandmaster4381 7 лет назад

      Willem Shattuck Co8n shops charge around 7.00 to around 6.50 for halves. If you are buying them from a person. I would try to get them for around 5.00 each. That way if you ever have to resell them for any reason. You will either break even or make a profit.

      Ben Ribbans I wouldn't worry about copper, it's not a valuable medal, but pre 1982 pennies are copper and have a melt value of 2.5 cents. Unfortunately you can't melt them.

    • @tjdimarzio8074

      If you just think of it like every dollar worth of change should equal about 12 or 13 bucks. So if you get four quarters for 12 or 13 bucks or 10 dimes for 12 or 13 bucks that is usually a fair price. Or if you think of it like three 50 cent pieces weigh almost an ounce so you should pay about 18 bucks or so for the three coins just an easy way to compare to see if you're getting a good deal

    Great video! I love constitutional ("junk") silver. Like you said, it's the best way to get fractionals. I like to clean mine (I won't clean Morgans or Peace dollars) and keep it in a big canvas bag. I love the way silver coins sound when clinked together.

  • @veritasfiles
    @veritasfiles 7 лет назад +5

    Okay, but if you're selling your Silver for "your price" then you're not selling your Silver. When you sell Silver, it's at the "MARKET PRICE" which means whatever price people are willing to pay, which may not correspond with "your price". What you're really doing is try to take profits or some other such nonsense. You're not actually selling.....which implies a market. Anyone buying Silver in order to sell it at "[their] your price" should get out of Silver immediately and never buy another ounce. They don't understand metals and are locked into short-term profit-making thinking, which has little or nothing to do with precious metals. Gold & Silver are MONEY... not a profit-making game.

    • @johngriffiths3952
      @johngriffiths3952 6 лет назад +1

      Maybe I have to watch the video in it's entirety to understand your comment, but he sounded like a very old 12 year old and super annoying so I had to stop. Just because I sell something at " MY" price, it still constitutes me selling that item. What is wrong with making a profit? Gold and Silver is " not a profit-making game " .. are you on crack? I buy for 15 an ounce, i'd like it to move higher after some years .. maybe to 25, 30 higher even. Are you aware of what a profit is? Say you buy a house for 20,000 and you fix it up a bit and a month later you sell it for 75,000 .. that difference is called a profit. You'll find that profit is all around from restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, trades, construction and wall street. Why are you bitter? Moms sold your wheat cent collection for drugs?
