Masha Allah. Great episode. I will argue that maqamat aids one to capture the hearts and increase Khusuu even more. When I pray behind an imam that casually recites past ayat of jannah and Jahanam vs someone that uses different maqamat and levels of the voice to emphasise the meaning is different level of khusuu in my heart. I do agree when people sit and the qari recites and they go crazy like it’s some party is ridiculous. They’re definitely needs to be a balanced approach.
If the qari' or qurra' you're referring to uses Maqamat as in those used by Sh. al-Minshawi, then yeah, they are okay, as they do not compromise on tajweed and the objective of the Qur'an still remains intact. واللهُ أعلم

So i really don't have a good voice matter of fact I struggle to pronounce the letters despite having years of tajweed class when I was younger, so it's not wajib to recite in a melody?

“The one who is skilled in reciting Qur’an will be with the noble, honourable scribes and the one who recites Qur’an and falters therein, and finds it difficult, will have a double reward.”
Narrated by al-Bukhaari (4937) and Muslim (798).

Sheikh Musa has provided evidence, the opinion of the ulama and very logical explanation to back his claims. He has also studied Qur'an for many years. What he is discussuing needs to be taken seriously. @@theleafjuice
Maqamat that compromise on tajweed and the purpose of the revelation, they are deffo problematic. But if those were not compromised like the recitations of Sh. al-Minshawi, then it is fine. Sh. Othman Al-Khamees was asked about recitations of Sh. al-Minshawi (in general) and he replied they were correct. واللهُ أعلم, but however as non-experts in recitation, let's not use those Maqamat or try to imitate or even listen them.
