most of the Indian People in Singapore are from Southern state of Tamil Nadu in India. Tamilnadu is most authentic state in India as it is least amount invaded/ruled by outsiders. if you visit there it will be culturally enriching. you will find lots of great architecture thousands of years old made by carving granite rocks.

The most "authentic" state? Based on your own criteria? WOW Really? China was invaded by so many invaders, that would make China not authentic to you, by your own logic and lets forget all the fact that "Mamak" food itself is Tamil Muslim (but no invasion), Got it.

For food wise...along the main road, there are lots of eating places and also affordable things to buy. But a major shopping store named "Mustaffa Center" is a must to visit to shops, eats or just to majorly mingling with the Locals and foreign Indian peoples! You sort of wonder why Americans and some Europeans use their forks to scoop up rice in Asian dishes, whereas the locals will use the spoon (or their hands!). A spoon scoops up anything at all much better than a fork.
I kind of think it could be because at western tables the weapons you're given are usually a knife and a fork. And the fork would of course be better than the knife for rice-scooping, in the absence of a spoon.
    Sounds reasonable to me.

    • @yivunqp963
      @yivunqp963 2 года назад

Cutlery. It's cutlery you are trying to say. Other than that, westerns always eat with a fork and spoons are only for the soup. For western cutlery, the fork is the only thing you can put in your mouth. Obviously you don't put the knife in your mouth and the spoon is only for the soup and you should only sip from the edge of the spoon.

When you go to places like India , Pakistan , Indonesia and Egypt , you will never feel lonely when you walk down the streets as a tourist because people look at you and often want to talk to you
I get a completely different impression when I go to South Korea , Thailand and Singapore , in those countries I feel invisible because no one in the street looks at me or wants to talk to strangers , the reason I am mentioning this is that the cultures in different Asia countries are completely different and my comment is not meant to sound negative in any way to any country .
When I went to Little India in Singapore , it was completely different there compared with India , In Little India in Singapore , there are lots of Indian people living there , in all the time I was there , not one person looked at me and when I went to the markets and shops there , not one person looked at me or spoke to me about trying to sell me anything , the same with the food market in this video that I also visited .
I spend a few weeks in South Korea , in the whole time , I was in South Korea , not one person looked at me in the street or spoke to me in any of the shops unless I first spoke to them first .Every time I have arrived in India as a tourist , I feel the huge amount of attention and communication I receive when I walk down the street , i have often wonder why the difference in the cultures between the different countries of Asia .
I have blonde hair , blue eyes and very fair skin , I don't know if that is the reason why people stare at me in some countries and not in other countries .

I am an Indian living in a western country and I've noticed the same thing.
I am far more likely to start a conversation with a stranger than most people are, as most European/western people keep to themselves.
But there are variations in Western countries as well, and even within the same country. In the larger coastal North American cities, people think there's something wrong with you if you try and strike up a conversation with a stranger whereas in the smaller Western North American cities people are more likely to talk to strangers.

Most Singaporeans travel quite a bit for vacation and work. So it is commonplace to come across folks from any part of the world.

Singaporeans like to mind their own business unless of course, you needed help with something. Like most Asians, we are pretty much reserved in general. Also, it’s a common sight to see someone with blonde coloured hair here so it’s no surprise that people dont stare at you or dont strike up a convo since it’s not our culture.

It has to be with the culture. Indian Subcontinent is more open with Foreigner Tourists mainly Europeans because they don't see them traveling there too often and they want to make money out of them.
While Singapore,South Korea are already pretty much globalized connected with the First World and are World centres of Trade,Business and Tourism. Its kind of normal for them, people from different parts of the world visiting.
Also Yes there is a bit of Obsession with White skin in Indian Subcontinent mainly because the Mass Media influence. They are oftentimes reminded that they are brown skinned and therefore don't look good. This leads to Companies taking advantage by selling their products like bleach and so called fairness cosmatics.
While India has people from every skin tone and facial features. Some parts of the country there still exists a notion of White Skin being associated with Beauty which is obviously not true.

@@Anmol.singh.10 actually that may be part of it thanks to European influences (pirates & Marauders, colonists etc.) which cut off India's thousands of years of trade, education, student and information exchange with countries as far as East Asia, Africa and Europe... But also please consider that India also has a multi-thousand-year-old tradition of welcoming traders and guests as well, as India was globalized thousands of years before many other cultures..

The Coleslaw looking thing is probably - Raita ...Its made from yogurt ..spices and things like tomotos and cucumber - The mass produced Biriyans u have been eating from takeways n restaurants is NOTHING compared to propa HOME made Biriyani ....If u ever get a chance to be invited to a Pakistani home for dinner u will see the difference in taste and quality ( Most restaurants want to maximise on profits so dont often use the best ingredients )

You went to the wrong part of Little India. You should change the metro to the purple line, alight at Farrer Park station (which is one stop away from Little India), and go to Mustafa (which operates 24 hours) to spend your USD20. You can get a lot more things from there.

@World Nomac you need to try the Kaya buns and Paratha with Kaya or Kaya toast for breakfast - Kaya is a traditional egg jam made from a mixture of coconut and eggs.
