This lady is doing backyard barbeques while Ariana Grande has ELEVEN of the top forty pop chart positions, including the top three - equaling the Beatles. I'm not sure if that means we're living in end times or in the idiocracy because those positions are backward. This lady is simply an incredible talent and should be a household name, a freakin' icon.
    Nice analysis too.

      Mike Whitfield, you nailed it.
Instead of allowing are appreciation for music lead us, we allow commercialization to lead us into a talentless brick wall.
      Ariana Grande🙄
      Today’s Beatles ~ Ariana Grande
We should be ashamed of ourselves! We don’t even deserve ears.
Ariana Grande couldn’t clean the treads of George Harrison’s boots.
I’ve heard traffic accidents that sound better than Ariana Grande.
As for this lady Fil posted playing slide blues...Outstanding!!!

Joanna is a Chicago treasure. I have seen her for 30 years having put countless hours to the wee hours of the morning in the Chicago blues clubs most particularly at Kingston Mines. Many of the great Chicago players have now passed (save Buddy Guy) but Joanna carries the torch in a most legit way and she deserves to be recognized. Incidentally, Joanna has lost a great deal of the weight you see her in this video and she is a fine looking woman. The real deal friends.

    Gotta comment on her character.
She headlined a festival that I backlined and stage managed.
A fifteen year old student of mine who was very advanced was there as a stage hand.
She practically adopted him and was incredibly encouraging.
Utterly gracious with our crew and played a killer show for about five thousand lucky people.
    Glad to see her re-emerging.
    Thanks Fil!

I've been watching Joanna for a lot of years and she can really get with it. I think the BIG music labels have not backed her because she don't fit the stereotype babydoll perfect ten. Personally I enjoy her slide playing and in my opinion a great blues voice.
She also has a good backing band that helps bring out her strong leads.

There's an awesome bass solo and organ solo in the video too.

Joanna Connor, an extraordinary blues guitarist and singer, remains criminally underrated and largely unknown in today's music world. Her immense talent has captivated audiences for decades, yet she remains hidden in the shadows. Joanna's unparalleled skills on the guitar, combined with her soulful and powerful voice, create a mesmerizing musical experience. Her ability to effortlessly blend traditional blues with a modern twist is truly remarkable, yet her name remains unrecognized by many. It is a shame that such an exceptional artist has not received the recognition she deserves. Joanna Connor's music deserves to be heard by a wider audience, as she represents the true essence of the blues.

Fil, I enjoy how You break down each performance and point out things that might be missed other wise. Joanna Connor, is a true artist in every sense of the word! She plays for the sake of expressing oneself not for notoriety if that come it's an added bonus. great analysis.

Wow, once again, Fil you have expanded my horizons. She is really good. I think blues might limit your success...she is A## whipping. Thanks again! I guess I'm 2nd? LOL!

My impression is that blues cats view the blues as a calling, nearly a religion, and while they'd like commercial success, they'd rather play what they were born to play.

I was late to the party discovering Joanna not long ago. She is phenomenal! She has recently lost something like 75 pounds. Good for her!!

Legend. She recently played her annual Worcester, MA, summer show at a small club. It was genius, and she and her band were so approachable and low-key as people, massive talents on stage. Amazing!

Thanks for featuring her. Your comments about her talent were spot on - it's about the music. Imagine if someone had never recorded Mama Cass because she didn't look like someone's stereotype of a female singer? You continue to do do great justice to all the artists you feature.

Im glad I discovered your channel because you have either made me aware of musicians I have forgotten about , never heard of or just didn't know they could play. Joanna Conner fit under the "never heard of " list. Im glad I know now, goodness.

Joanna is a Goddess of Guitar and you are right to highlight what a great vocalist she is as well. Anyone who cannot see that is blind as well as deaf.
