This watch reframes the affordable GMT market, no question about it. Just over $100 for this set of specs is RIDICULOUS! Will we see something cheaper in the future? Do we even want to? Cheers, Jody

As someone who loves a budget watch, like yourself Jody. I never thought I'd be saying this... But I think it's time for Pagani Design to up their prices slightly and use the extra money to improve their lume and also sort out some of the QC issues. Even if they only increased it by something like $20 or $30. Given how well they manage to make their money spread thin, I think that could make the world of difference.

    • @In.New.York.I.Milly.Rock.
      @In.New.York.I.Milly.Rock. Год назад +17

The current pricing is probably better because the slightly more expensive Chinese brands are not cheap enough to move massive numbers in third-world countries. For exampl3 San Martin is still out of the budget range for the average brazilian income.

I don't know, man. I think the likes of San Martin will end up shooting themselves in the foot by their pricing. They are now getting closer and closer to prices of proper brands with proper reputation and real warranty. Pagani could easily price themselves out of the market too. Their case fit and finish isn't particularly good. I don't know if many people would be willing to pay $130-$150 for a Chinese Rolex copy with better lume and better alignment than current Paganis.

I agree with most of your points on this Jordy. I purchased the cream coloured dial world timer (PD-1758) of this variant during the 11.11 sale and am generally happy with it.
The finishing is decent, my watch's bezel insert (It is aluminium) was aligned correctly as was the GMT hand (I found I could actually adjust the GMT hand to put into or out of alignment). The movement is keeping very good time and have yet to adjust since it arrived five days ago.
But you're too kind in describing the bracelet clasp - it is total junk. For the money, it's a solid buy, but it would be even better if they upped the price by $5 to $10 USD in order to source a decent, adjustable clasp.

My number one complaint about Pagani Design isn't that they basically use a photocopier at the designing stage, it's that the all steel case backs they use are too thin and make the whole watch sound cheap. It is cheap but you don't want it to sound like it.

Everything in working order and aligned well. Looks clean. Hard to beat for the price given the specs. A couple sharp edges but not pulling on my hairs. Screw in pins a nice touch too. Downside/reduced value most likely on the back end when trying to sell or trade, but need to remember it's cheaper than getting a normal Seiko 5 sports with hardlex and non gmt movement. A good watch to experiment with too for those unsure about a cyclopes. Is it a better long term investment to spend 2-3x more and buy a Tissot 80 auto off a jomashop, absolutely. But no buyers remorse here on this watch. Great find!

I have been patiently waiting for a low cost NH34-based GMT watch for months so once I saw this video I jumped on the "GMT Master" Batman on a jubilee bracelet. With the Aliexpress Black Friday discounts and the $17 USD voucher (thanks Jody !) it came to $137 CAD which is a steal. This will be my second Pagani. Last year I picked up the PD-1701 (Speedmaster look-alike that I affectionately refer to as my "Spagani"). BTW has it occurred to anyone else that NCC-1701 is the designation number of the Star Trek Enterprise? Coincidence? Perhaps not ;-) .

Super strange choices for the airport codes. I'd think JFK or LGA for New York City, MDW or ORD for Chicago, DEN for Denver, LAX for LA, and so on. Honestly, I'd love to see a custom bezel for these- I'd deck it out with favorite airports in each zone. DTW (Detroit Metro), MDW, PHX (Phoenix Sky Harbor), SFO (San Francisco) for example.

Not into homage watches, but I had a Parnis with the inferior DG3804…
Seeing this Pagani with the NH34 made me ordering the Pepsi and give it a try.
The Pepsi GMT Master 2 is my grail watch that I never would buy…
    10.000,-€ MSRP and a 3-7year waiting is something I couldn’t justify as a employed truckdriver…
A homage has to be cheap, so looking for a 500-1000,-€ watch is senseless, as you can get in this region so many original watches, but at 100-200,-€ with a Seiko NH34 it is a steal and worth to give it a try.

I'm currently have the world timer on my wrist, also on a jubilee. Very easy to wear and basically invisible after a few minutes. However, I'm surprised you didn't mention the sharp edges on the case, bezel, bracelet and clasp (the latter being sharp enough to graze). I'm going to have to buff mine out with a nail buffer to take the edge off. Not noticeable during wear (aside from that lethal clasp), but a real issue in-hand.
Other than that I agree with the review. The timepiece itself is great for the money - easily matches high street watches costing double or more. The bracelet is better than similarly-priced Seikos, despite the sharp bits; though it's the weakest part of the whole.
At the sale price you can easily buy a quality strap for it and have a watch that matches much more expensive pieces.

I picked up the World Timer version during the 11.11 sale as well, and all around it's a nice little watch. My few complaints are the cyclops and the GMT hand. Mine was off similar to the Batman you had there, and to my eye the cyclops is way to powerful of a magnification compared to what I'm used to. I don't know if it's down to the difference in distance between cyclops and dial face because of the extra hand on the stack or what, but from normal reading distance the numbers are almost illegibly large.
Thanks for continuing to review good looking, reliable, and affordable watches!

    • @ssnerd583

I saw another channel do a review on these watches and it would seem that the cyclops is actually sapphire on these which is why the mag is higher as the sapphire has a higher refractive index to regular mineral glass and they arent machining the sapphire cyclops to match that fact, and when they are machined to the mineral glass spec.....this extra magnification is the result. I cant remember who did that review but it was 7 or 8 months ago, at least....but is sounds plausible to me ....maybe somebody needs to tell them to change their spec on the machine on grinding these.....lol

My last GMT from them, with whatever movement it had, gained only 1 second every 5 or so days, had an amazing cyclops lined up pretty damn perfect, great even lume & a bezel that lined up perfectly. Seriously wish I hadn't dropped it now, but probably about time I had the aliexpress dumpster watch. Another great video! Congratulations on your latest educational milestone, as well, Doctor!
I just bought a Pepsi bezel version with the new NH34 on the bracelet and I am loving it. It's got the best finished dial I've seen yet on a Pagani (including my PD-1680 with the plum dial, which is fire), and it would stand up to comparison with several much pricier name brand timepieces. The only complaints I've got are that the bracelet is a bit of a rattler and the bezel has a tiny bit of backplay, but everything lines up more accurately than any new genuine Seiko I've seen and the QC and finishing are surprisingly good overall, so I'm hardly complaining. All that and, with the 11.11 sale price, I got it for about 40% off!
I'm most likely going to have to pull the trigger and order another in one of the new colourways with the new dials and world timer bezels before long, too. They're cracking!
Thanks for another excellent review. Keep up with the great videos!

Great review as always! I purchased one of these for about $106 usd during 11.11 sale after I saw your video for top watches to get during 11.11. I've had it for almost a week and I really enjoy it. The AR coating is definitely a nice touch, compared to my pd1661 sub it's much easier to read the date with slightly less reflections. One problem I had was the bracelet, the spring bar in the micro adjust broke as I was attempting to adjust it, and the screw inside the extension link was stripped, so I can't replace the clasp with a spare glidelock I have, so my bracelet is unwearable now. Luckily I contacted the store and they should be sending me replacement parts. Either way, for the sale price it's decent watch, just wish they had better QC.

Love my Apple Watch , hate charging it every day and the ultra version at 800 is a no go for me lol 😂 I always fall back to my steel dive 1953 or 1996 007 …. I also hate the way everyone wears an Apple Watch and a traditional watch just looks better in a world of smart watches 🤷🏻‍♂️✌️🤷🏻‍♂️

Super late comment, but I just recently purchased this exact model, and a Submariner style Nh35 as gifts for some friends of mine, and I just wanted to say, obviously the watches aren't 100% perfect, but what mattered to me the most, and ended up being absolutely perfect, was the accuracy of the movements, the Nh34 ran 0 seconds a day, and the Nh35a ran +1 seconds a day. I was absolutely blown away. My main concern was accuracy because I dont want my friends to have to reset the time every 4 or 5 days as theyre not big watch people, so something that will hold time essentially perfectly is exactly what I hoped for, I just couldnt believe it initially. Anyway, good watches for the price for sure

Grabbed a Batman jubilee today now that the current sale has started--the Holiday Deals Event. Not quite as good as 11.11 but I had some cash back from prior sale, so net net close enough. Your reviews definitely influence my buying decisions! I didn't know that they increased the case size. Even though it's only a silly milly, I never purchased the Pearl version because I thought it would be a little bit too small for my wrist. I am hoping this will do the trick. Thank you Jody!

    • @5naxalotl
      @5naxalotl Год назад +2

good idea ... the wrong date change for one timezone is annoying. but that's a *lot* of complication to add. it's an entire extra date wheel plus jump mechanism. if this ever happened, it would be on a luxury watch, and afaik it hasn't yet. your greatest chance of seeing this on a cheap watch is a quartz movement where dates are done with hands, and it's a simple matter of adding an extra servo motor ... basically you'd be reprogramming an existing chronograph movement

Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE explain how the GMT works on the world timer? I have one and cannot figure out how the city function works. Do I set the GMT on my local time and then turn the bezel so my local time city lines up with the GMT hand? But that can’t work since the GMT is 24 hours and the numbers are not on the dial, they rotate with the bezel. Can anyone help?

Pagani gonna Pagani, not perfect but pretty bloody good! Pity there was no Timegrapher footage, I'm curious to know what state of "tune" your average Pagani arrives in. IMHO good value automatic movements are all well and good but how accurate are they? Anything over 10-15 seconds a day and I'd rather, dare I say it, have a quartz movement.

Just got mine today, bargain at $95. I already have the blue one with the world map. The hands on that one are harder to see plus the numbers on the bezel being in black are virtually invisible. So, the black dial with red bezel works for me. Why Pagani didn't put white numbers on the blue bezel is beyond me, as the watch is a nice colour, the map should be more subtle too to make the hands easier to read.

A suggestion for future videos. If you're reviewing a Pagani watch, you should save 5 minutes or so in the video to recommend a couple replacement bands. I've bought three Pagani's over the last year and all of the bands (primarily the clasps) have been as you would call them, rubbish. Anyone opting for a Pagani watch should plan on also buying a 'real' band for it until Pagani finally wakes up and gives us a 'not rubbish' band on their watches. Jody, please pass this along to Pagani. I dig a number of their watches, but loathe their bands.

An undecorated movement with an exhibition case back is vastly superior to any closed case back. I own quite a few PD watches. I think they have the best value based on their price being offered anywhere today. They aren't perfect but look at this watch vs the more expensive models listed in the beginning of this video. Then rethink the price / value proposition.
