After spending 2 years as a bodyguard, I can confirm this. I learned after being around celebrities is that they are human beings at the end of the day. Most want to be treated like everyone else and will respect you for being nice and not acknowledging their fame. I personally only ever wanted to be rich, but not famous. Politics-wise, there is a high chance that celebrities are being paid by political parties to spread political messages.
Otherwise, it makes no sense for celebrities to alienate a huge portion of their fans if they are not rewarded for doing so.

I genuinely believe they prefer that over someone gawking at them and asking to take a picture with them. To this day I haven't taken a picture with one single celebrity I've had on board and Ive met hundreds of them. The thing about success, is that it gets really lonely very fast when you reach it. Even in the corporate world, or other industries. Getting up to a certain level can feel so alone. You have to remember that not everyone gets there. And when you're there, it's a whole different world that only a very few people can relate to. So it becomes challenging to find people you can even converse with at the same level. Unfortunately, that's how the world works. And it's not anyone's fault. When you're placed at a pedestal, people perceive you differently, people relate to you differently, and if you want to keep staying there, you need to act a certain expectation that is different from those who are now looking up to you as a hero, as an aspiration, as an inspiration.

Yes and no. A lot of people are smart and adult enough to know what a celebrity is what not. Or they don't care for popular media culture and just shrug their shoulders and say: Who are you?
But those people who are really passionate for different types of media will not understand what a celebrity is. Because the media and especially social media raises people to see celebrities as superhumans that have everything that a human can desire.
And to be fair: Your favourite band, actor etc. is awesome. Not just because you love what he does. Because they achieved so many things you wish you had yourself. They made it to a certain top level, which is ultra hard. They made a lot of money. They look great. They are usually eloquent, they are funny, they have a good or great presence, they have interesting stories to tell, they work hard for their jobs which demands them to learn new skills, they travel to exciting places, they are often not only actors but singers or have other cool interests. No normal person you will ever know checks so many boxes. Compare all that with your own life.

@ahbe9232 Basically, yea. In certain Asian Countries, )particular China, Japan, as well as more rural parts of Thailand, PHP) White people are very rare and white skin is idolized. They associate white men as rich and successful. That's why businesses will literally hire random white people to pose as CEOs of companies or doctors to market their products. Further, in some parts, white people are few and so you're a celebrity. I don't want to use the word "annoy", even though it did become annoying, because they're just ignorant (in the true sense of the word). But yea, it literally did become an issue where I wouldn't leave my house if I was in a bad mood. Again, just some parts. I live in Thailand and Cebu, PHP now and love it.

Same, especially in Myanmar when tourism wasn't that present yet. As soon as I crossed the border from Thailand to Myanmar and simply walked on the street people came up to me and wanted to take pictures. They were all very polite in doing so and not like paparazzi so I didn't mind. In the beginning it was even flattering to some extend but eventually I just wanted to visit some Buddhist temple without local tourists taking pictures of me instead of the temple. 😅

Let’s honest. There is power being famous. Yes, being famous may make you depressed but there is level of respect. A lot of things become free because you’re famous. You’re a commodity. A cash cow.
Celebrities who know they will be seen as a product will endure the artificial love and use it to their benefit. Drake is a perfect example. He always seem humble and having fun with his fame.
Snoop Dogg is another. Always remain the same and just having fun with it. Enjoy the journey of fame. Once it stops, be a producer or a director. Run an industry. And you’ll be good.
