However having lived through the troubles in Northern Ireland I have witnessed gangsterism, hardened men, a mafia controlled society, torture, brutality and violence on a level way beyond what the Krays or any other English gangsters offered. That's not in any way a boast or glamourising, but simply a fact of life growing up in Belfast. There is a fascination with the Krays which I also share. However having lived through the troubles in Northern Ireland I have witnessed gangsterism, hardened men, a mafia controlled society, torture, brutality and violence on a level way beyond what the Krays or any other English gangsters offered. That's not in any way a boast or glamourising, but simply a fact of life growing up in Belfast. Unfortunately during this period we had hundreds of Kray type characters with capabilities and resources that make the Krays look like the krankies.
