Imagine if Eric had the budget and time he could’ve made a parody scene where he swaps the switcher for a sandbag, and then the ruins start to collapse. Then all of the sudden as Eric is running out a giant bolder is chasing him, after escaping the bolder he makes his way back to the layout to put the newly equipped locomotive on display for his layout.
Nice video. It is always so orgasmic to find that special item to add to your collection. Price, Quality and undamaged is always great. You must have thousands into your collection and a very nice layout.
Hello Eric this is Adam tuck I'm also into trains of all kinds my favorite locomotives are the Union Pacific Big Boy Santa Fe and the ones with the horse symbol on it
I’ve been on the hunt for a decently priced Union Pacific genset. I don’t want the visionline version though, I just want the normal dual motor version
I recently purchased a UP Vision Genset which somehow over the years, was never opened. I purchased it from a very reputable train store, so no worries of it being anything but "sealed". My problem is that it has been sitting in my basement for 2 weeks (where the layout is) and I can't bring myself to open it. I'm not sure why. Maybe partly because I am afraid it will be like driving a new car off the lot and losing a chunk of value and because I am afraid of breaking it, I have some history with not being the most nimble of collectors :-) I had a UP back when the Visions first came out and I loved it, but eventually sold it to raise money for another hobby. So, like you, it's been on my watch list for some time. I have one of the new Gensets (Bethlehem Steel) and it is truly a wonderful model for the price point. Enjoy your Santa Fe!
@@Ericstrains I unboxed it tonight and except for a couple of windows laying about, it was perfect. Put it on the track and to my utter delight, after sitting in a box for 12 years, it worked perfectly! There are only the 2 VL Gensets and are now impossible to find in decent condition.
@@mjmonjure Even if you just unbox it, you have a collection of locos. If you don't at least open it up, all you have is a collection of . . . boxes. We have a word for that: Warehousing.

Thanks for sharing Eric I like you like the fact that they are diecast I personally feel that it would be better if the majority of the trains were metal it gives them a better look and feel..It's a real nice engine and it's good to have good frieds to helpus look out for things and that we can share that same oppourtunity and priveledge with.Glad you finally got it I know what thats like.."Happy Rails". Nice video, thanks for sharing also any update on when you're going to do a video on the lionel SOUTHERN PACIFIC VISION STOCK EXPRESS SET. Can't wait to get your opinion on this set, thank you Howard G
For $450 that was a deal. Iv got the conrail genset yes the windows fall out on these had to do the same put them back in! Great video Eric that was a good find enjoy
Wow, nice video, Eric. Thanks for going into detail on the cab’s interior. Just to clarify - there were no real-life warbonnet paint schemes, correct? Keep up the great work.
Didn’t know you had to share slots on the legacy controller with a large collection of engines...How the heck do you know which engine is which when running some of the duplicates slots?
Hey Eric, great video! Just out of curiosity have you ever thought about getting a legacy 993 expansion set to give you more slots for all your locomotives?
@@Ericstrains Having watched what I think is all your instructional videos (very helpful) is it possible to go over why you use flex over other options and determining when to use it?

Awesome Diesel Train! I made my very own LEGO Diesel ALCO MRS-1 and my very own LEGO Diesel EMD MRS-1 too!
So they re did the metal die cast molding for sure?! I might have to look for them all if they won’t make anymore die cast.
I love the shots of the train passing by. Its almost as if im standing at the track and seeing a real train pass by. Keep up the great videos!
Thanks, will do!
Thank you Eric, for the shout out of the Matt and Matt O Scale Train Podcast! and I'm really happy you found your lost artifact!
You bet!
What a wonderful community this is.
I love the 90s war bonnet paint schemes. It was one of the paint jobs that really got me into trains as a kid growing up
Me too
agreed. have examples of both the original and bluebonnet on some locomotives as well 🤩
90ies warbonnet??? Think it was introduced in 1955
@@steffenrosmus9177 I’m talking about the giant Santa Fe lettering on the sides
Beautiful! The epitome of North American motive power. Question: What activates the flashing ditch lights?

I lived in Wenatchee, Washington in 1970 when GN became BN so I really like the BN boxcar and anything I see in BN green. Nice video as usual Eric.
You must miss that gorgeous mountain goat, though.
Hearing you talk about how these came out 10 years ago freaked me out. I remember when you made your first video about these lionel gensets.
wow
Great Score ! Fella did You a solid for sure . Beautiful Engine . Congrats !
Thanks 👍
This is a Great one! What a machine! Really nice with powerful sound!
Enjoyed the video and seeing the Santa Fe Genset. Glad you were able to check it off your list. Bill B.
These motors are amazing. Love the 3 smoke stacks going and that cab!
Yes they are!
Very nice locomotive love paint runs great .
Hey Eric. Very creative title for this video. I hope I am lucky enough one day to get this engine..
Great looking loco Eric 😀👍
Great engine now I gotta get one for my collection.
Love the title

When did Lionel start adding the selectable horns I have a model from 2019 but it doesn't have the selectable horn
It's a fairly recent thing, maybe last couple years or so.

Am I the only one who watched @ 3:13 - 3:35 waiting for Eric to knock over that little crossbuck post without knowing it?
Hey Eric if Lionel or MTH made a loco and passenger cars for commuter railroads (ie Coaster, NJT, Trirail, Marc, LIRR ect) would you buy them?
+1 for LIRR
+1 for all of them and Go transit, Metra, and Caltran

When you talk about not being able to go to York, do you mean the TCA train show in York PA?
yep

I have a spreadsheet
Love this engine
Hey Eric do you think they will ever create a grand trunk steamer? If they did, did I miss it
They've done many.
@@Ericstrains didn’t you do one before?
I don't think so.
Hey Eric, great video! Just out of curiosity have you ever thought about getting a legacy 993 expansion set to give you more slots for all your locomotives?
That won't work. You still only get 98 slots.
If you bought a new 990 Legacy System wouldn’t you get another 99 slots?
I'm a beginner in train modeling. What are slots?
Hey Eric, can you do some switching videos with all the GenSets working together?
In short, no. Eric explained that he has a number with the same IDs so you can run some in tandem (3?) but not individually.
Hey Eric is this the part of your channel, where you start reviewing older lionel models like how you talked about ?
Sure
Awesome engine, especially for the price
Yes indeed
O and O27 are so much ezr to work on then my HO and N gauge.
It's all about the space, and the cost.
Do you use any flex track or is it all atlas pre determined pieces?
Both

are you going to get the Pennsy one?
