  • The truth is… Group hikes are super slow and we’re always pressuring the guides to move faster, mostly by our pace.
Regardless, these hikes ,such as the Camino la Serranía ,feature the natural beauty that makes up the eastern hills of Bogotá.

We went to Bogota many years ago and enjoyed it, especially the cool weather. We are now traveling from Mexico to Argentina in search of our favorite retirement city. We retired 6 months ago and are currently in my wife’s home country of Nicaragua.
In Colombia we are kind of steering towards Manizales. At 56 n 61, safety is a part of our search. But Bogota sure is beautiful !

That's soo great to hear! The cool weather is a great break form the US whether you're coming during mid-summer or mid-winter. I like to think of it as early fall weather year round.

I am not a hiker, but I would like to visit Bogota for a few weeks. Is January a good month to visit and I think it will be chilly, but will it also be sunny or not?Or all seasons in one day? Please let me know. Thanks and I am enjoying your videos

THANK YOU! And sorry for the delayed reply here. January is one of the best months to visit. - It also depends on what you consider chilly... Bogota's weather stays between 50 degrees F and 70 degrees F year round. It's kind of like early fall weather. Because December-February is the dry season, there's more sunny days than rainy days so it makes it slightly warmer, maybe even mid-70s a mid day.

Hello hello, how is it that you go about signing up? Is there a website or app you guys use for these hikes ?

Yes! You can book different hikes with the Acueducto on their Caminos de los Cerros Orientales website:
      caminos.eaab.gov.co/
or you can download the “Caminos Cerros Orientales” app and book the hike you’d like to do.
The one from this video is called “Serrania”

I just signed for this adventure. What time do you need to be at the gas station? In the website says that the walking starts at 6:30 am. Thanks!

Widny received a call the day prior from the hiking staff informing us what time we needed to show up. They did say 6:30am... And we ended up waiting in the parking lot for about an hour. However, this was back in May or June last year and that's when they just got started with this specific trail... So, the experience is probably a little more refined. Overall, it's a slower paced hike than what we normally do on our own and quite lengthy. About 10 kilometers. ENJOY! Let us know if you have more questions.
