I know the general narrative is that the Buddha statues were destroyed in 2001 from the Taliban due to internal fighting but that's not 100% accurate. I had an interaction with a local Afghani that told me the following information for which i have no reason to doubt them.
He said, "The Taliban did not destroy the Buddha statue because they dislike other religions, it was because once some foreigners visited Afghanistan and offered money to mullah Omer the taliban leader at the time to fix the Buddha statue which was a little damaged due to rain, mullah Omer said that a lot of people in my country are dying of hunger and these people are not offering me aid for them but for the non living statue they are willing to pay lots of money ,so he ordered the destruction."
Despite this negative incident i hope sometime in the future they can put these Buddha statues back together with modern technology. Kudos to you Ale for highlighting those younger girls who sang a song for you. You make me proud when you show content like that which highlights ALL the Afghani people.
Thanks for all the extra context, Ken. I also really hope the statues will be restored at some point as they looked incredible back in the days. Thanks for the kind words! 🙏🏼
Ale, your videos are masterpiece! You deserved Discovery channel attention!❤
Wow, thank you so much Monikita! 🥹
IKR!! His videos have such a high caliber of quality associated with them. It's better he stays independent or the corporate media will destroy his work.
Afghanistan is treasure trove of history and culture. Because of its trade routes and the way its boundaries were decided, it has a diverse population which is a source of strength and celebration. If peace and stability persist and improve, it can be a great tourist destination. Thank you for sharing your experiences there.
An absolutely fascinating country to explore and the nature there is for sure some of the best one can find around the world! 🙏
Thank you, Ale, for your effort in portraying the positive side of Afghanistan. You have amazing talent, safe trip. Looking forward to your next video!! Mucho Gracias!!

What an incredible location for a rainbow! Those mountains by the former Buddha statues 😍😍 That girl has such a powerful singing voice. The contrast of the monuments and that lush green grass is spectacular.

Ty for reporting facts about afghan people are decent who want to live in peace not war.
Please don’t spread wrong information about Islam. Ali(رض) wasn’t a prophet. Our last prophet is Mohammad (ص)
Thanks for clarifying. I think our local guy said "Mahdi" but apologies if that's not totally accurate and thanks for watching the video!
