    Nasrallah's threat to attack Cyprus if it allows Israel to use its military infrastructure to target Lebanon is a significant escalation in the regional conflict. If Hezbollah were to attack Cyprus, Article 5 of the NATO treaty would likely be invoked, triggering a collective defense response from NATO member states. This would mean that NATO would consider an attack on Cyprus as an attack on all its member states, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and other European nations.
    The EU would also likely be drawn into the conflict, given Cyprus's membership in the EU.

      @ChuckAmadi 7 месяцев назад +2

      Cyprus isn't a NATO member.
      Cyprus is part of the EU.
      Cyprus hosts two UK Military bases and one Turkish base.
      Britain's territory on Cyprus forms a key part of NATO's surveillance and nuclear capabilities in the Mediterranean.
      So Hezobollah will likely involve NATO if any of those Military bases are targets, and if civilian infrastructure destroyed will bring the wrath of Cyprus Governments (Cyprus, Greece and Turkey) EU into the conflict no doubt.

    • @bravewarrior1218
      @bravewarrior1218 7 месяцев назад

      @@ChuckAmadi
      Cyprus is not a member of NATO, but the UK maintains significant military bases on the island:
      The UK has two Sovereign Base Areas (SBAs) on Cyprus - Akrotiri and Dhekelia. These are British military bases that remain under UK sovereignty even after Cyprus gained independence.
      The UK bases in Cyprus are considered Permanent Joint Operating Bases and host significant British military forces, including RAF Akrotiri which is a major air base.
      While Cyprus is not a NATO member, the UK bases in Cyprus have been used to support NATO operations. There have been discussions about a potential NATO role or presence on the island as part of a future reunification deal, but this has not materialized.
      The US also has a military presence at the British base in Akrotiri, with around 3,000 US personnel stationed there. This US presence is controversial and opposed by some Cypriot groups.
      While Cyprus itself is not a NATO member, the UK maintains important military bases on the island that have been used to support NATO operations, even though a formal NATO role on Cyprus has not been established. The status of these bases remains a sensitive political issue in Cyprus.

      Cyprus is not a member of NATO, so Article 5 does not apply. This means that if Hezbollah were to attack Cyprus, NATO would not be obligated to assist under Article 5. Cyprus relies on the European Union's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) for its security and foreign affairs

      NATO isn't as strong as you may think lol, NATO weapons in Ukraine have been matched by Soviet Era weapons from the Russian's / Ukraine continues to lose ground.
      The thing is, NATO hasn't adapted for drone warfare, they're still doing full training courses from the second world war. The US has some drone technology but not much, there is no FPV drones for example in NATO. Ukraine has been an exception here, but basically, the funding for NATO weapons for the last 30-40 years has gone into the wrong elements of development for wide-spread war.

    The statement should be phrased slightly different ly. 1st there are factions on both sides who want a big war and who don't want a big war. Many Israelis want a big war in the north, but they don't just need US approval, they need US military participation. They ran out of iron dome missiles going against Hamas. They are being resupplied but they need 10X more to defend against Hezbolla. But even if the US approved 1 full carrier battle group, the missiles that get through will cripple Israel's economy. Israel is simply bluffing. There is also the chance that Russia has sent come advanced hypersonic missiles to Lebanon, to be used against US warships. US can not risk one of its warships being hit and seriously damaged. The myth of US military invincibliy which is already broken in the eyes of Russia, China and Iran will spread to European countries.
