Mat Zo & Arty's "Mozart" is the latest collaboration from two producers that are rewriting the rulebook in trance and big room house music.
Mashing up elements of all their beloved sounds into their unique blends, the precocious pair have created another dancefloor bomb in their aptly titled "Mozart" - featured on the recent "Anjunabeats Volume 9" compilation.
A more house-slanted affair than the riotous, turbo-charged "Rebound", "Mozart" builds and builds through waves of old school piano rolls and new school synth surges before arriving at a climatic breakdown.
Sizzling with energy and peak-time atmosphere, "Mozart" then turns on a clarion call of bright funk-fuelled synths that snap into a body-popping groove before an explosive drop.
Directed by Ian Gamester, the official music video focuses on a street dance class that is run by a clueless drill sergeant style instructor - one who is unable to get the class performing with any real rhythm. When a cocky kid turns up with nothing more than a ghetto blaster and a tape cassette that has the word "Mozart" scrawled on it, noone is expecting much - but they are soon transfixed by his skills and eventually conducted by his magic powers. Despite what everyone else thinks of this video, together, Arty & Mat Zo done an awesome job putting this fine tune together, and I bet alotta young people out there wished they could dance as good as they did in the video.
I first used to hear this tune in 2012, when I was 22.
I think I understand the message of the video. These kids are signed up for a street dance class which represents maybe school or something they would rather not be doing. The instructor is like the teacher and he teachers the class a certain way to dance in a way that is not fun or liberating but in contrast constrictive. When Mozart comes along, everyone is confused. He, instead, teaches them that the music should control you, that music should make you want to move. That's why he's wiggling his fingers like he's "controlling" them, but in reality, it's the music controlling them. Mozart was an amazing composer, and in the video, the kid, A.K.A. Mozart, teaches them that you should let the music control you, don't try to control the music. In the end, the kids end up enjoying street dancing because it felt liberating.
The lesson of the video is anything you do in life, be it learn or dance, it should make you joyful.

***** I see what you mean. I guess you have to be into this type of "trance" to appreciate it more. I'm more into the deep rich melodies that you find in old uplifting trance and progressive 2003-2009 era. These track I would consider a masterpiece like Estiva - Like A Dream, Bakke & Joni - Bali (Ljungqvist Remix), Far & Away - Marbella (Original Mix).Bottom line is, I appreciate the Trance music that sound more like Trance without any influence of House or Electro or Big Room. I guess what one considers art or a masterpiece is relative.

MSFME Why not be into ALL of it? I like EVERY single type of electronic music. Sure I started on dubstep many years ago, but I've branched to fall in love with every genre, even hardstyle. My favorite right now though is the older Trance from 2007 and before.

I hope that Arty and Mat Zo will get more notice now! They truly deserve it and they are so much better than a lot of other "artists" these days. And hey, the music might be not the best in the world but I do hope it get's commercial, so Arty and Mat Zo get more publicity (and money obviously). The same thing goes for all other Anjuna artists :)

As a DJ I can actually really see the point of this track, it's a good "break" from your typical progressive or trance that composes most of the set, so when people hear it they just let go for a bit and enjoy the different style of the track that way you can keep the trance and prog sounding fresh.
Last time I went to Trance Energy it was tech trance non-stop, it got boring very fast, last time I went to Tiesto or A&B they knew to break up the trance with some fun bouncy tracks every so often.
They are the birthplace of countless good producers, yes.
Arty had 8 songs on ASOT Top 1000 and this masterpiece wasn't one of them. Shame.

Do we play music, or does music play us? That is what this video is saying. The kid dance prodigy, mozart (The actual mozart was a child prodigy too), uses dance as his instrument instead of a piano or violin. He uses the music to play the dancers. Its a pretty cool idea if you ask me.

I remember when Above & Beyond played this song in Group Therapy Atlanta. They introduced the artist via LED screen pres and once the beat dropped, they spelled Mozart with Mat Zo and Arty. Awesome!
