Critics say that “Can team Aqua and Team Magma Grunts beat Pokemon Emerald?” Is “heart wrenching”, “inspirational”, and “an experience we wont soon forget” Come and see the youtube video of the year nominee as we join FlygonHG on his quest to find his parents and maybe, himself.
In case you ever worry that your script is too silly or melodramatic, your line about traveling with 6 Pokémon and making memories with friends was enough to convince me to pick up my all-star run of Pokémon Crystal again. Thanks!
It might sound dumb, but as an adopted child, this hits HARD. It ironically showcased the exact emotions I went through, I desperately wanted to find out who my birth parents were for the longest time under the impression we did not know. Only to find out it was solely a tactic used for my parents to protect me. Flygon, I've loved your videos and nuzlockes for years now, but this one will now always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you, Flygon.
What do you mean the ending wasnt him finding out both Maxie AND Archie were both his dads and his return bringing them back together after putting him up for adoption led to their divorce
Clearly them seeing that he didn’t need them and was a better person than either of them showed them they need to become better people in the aftermath of what they’ve done starting the beginnings of a reconciliation of their relationship
It’d be cool so see a S/V “food-themed” Nuzlocke with eligible encounters like the Applin line, Fidough, Alcremie, Tatsugiri, Polteageist, Sinischa, Tsareena line, and Tropius
This was honestly a really wholesome story in the end, and I love that who the birth parents were really doesn't matter in the end. I am worried about what's happening in the Stone household though, although maybe it's just that Nosey has a very bushy moustache now
There was definitely a moment where I thought the big twist was going to be that he was nosey all along and he would realize that Devon stone isn’t as great of father as he had thought
It is already funny that Blaise, of all the team members, died to a Slugma, and it became even funnier that the first two deaths happened to be Adventures-exclusive admins lmao

Or is this lack of identity a shadow of ourselves, the player, who went on this journey to find our dad only to realize that our family was just fine the way it was, and our search for our 'real dad' was doomed to fail because our real family was the people we grew alongside, much like the team we built along the way? A Nuzlocke like poetry.
The short, omnious letters are getting so real dude the TENSION!!! Did Nosey evolve in his time in Sinnoh? Discover smth about his mom??? LIKE IM SO INVESTED IN THESE LETTERS BRO!!! THEY MAKE GEN THREE RUNS EASILY MY FAVE!!
Can I tell you something? I ignored this channel for a better part of 2 years because I was burnt out on Pokemon after SwSh, BDSP. But maybe a week and a half ago, I decided to watch one of your videos. Now I have watched almost every single one of your videos and started my own Hardcore Nuzlocke in Pokemon White with all the same rules. For the first time in years, I had fun playing Pokemon but I don’t think it would have been possible without these engaging commentary videos. So a sincere apologies from me and thank you as well for lighting up that fire again!
@@kaitosama3766 For sure. I just finished mine today. Tip 1: Pre plan every battle, even if it is not a major one. I lost countless pokemon to random battles. Try to walk when you’re around trainers so avoid them if need be so that you don’t get into a tough battling situation, especially since the battle style has to be placed on Set not Switch. Tip 2: I don’t consider this cheating either as FlygonHG might not either but I gave myself countless number of berries with AR and used them appropriately. I did the same with BP so that I wouldnt have to sit there and grind the Battle Subway. Tip 3: Definitely have PK Hex to check your Pokemon's IVs and EVs to then use Damage calculators to see how they will turn out. If you know a Scald wont kill and you have to switch appropriately, it helps. Tip 4: This is very important!! Make sure you maximize your encounters. I was lucky enough to find a Boldore in an early route and then I strategically, used encounter mapping to get a woobat that then helped me get an Axew in Mistralton cave. That Haxorus ran through the E4 and Ghetsis. If I did not do the encounter routing well, I would have wiped in the E4 especially since I lost two of my best mons immediately to crits and weird AI (Marshall's pokemon used Stone Edge against my Excadrill when I switched to Chandelure and Conkeldurr used a stone edge and crit my Amoonguss). Tip 5: EV train your pokemon. This step is very important because if you don’t, there is a definite chance you will end up with wrong EVs and cost your battle as well. I suggest EV training with wild mons to maximize your EVs while not hitting the level cap at each gym leader or major battles. Tip 6: Work with your Pokemon's moves and natures. Sandstorm may sound dumb because you want to maximize your damage but I taught my Excadrill Sandstorm, safely used it which helped me out speed Grimsley's pokemon and sweep with Soft Sand Earthquake. Same goes for when you’re battling say Shauntal and you bring a water type. Its good to have a variety of moves, but teaching rain dance can help a lot, especially against her Chandelure's fire blasts. Or if you have a swift swim pokemon, you can give it a Choice spec/band etc and then setup rain with another mon and switch in safely to deal stab + boosted water type moves.
The commitment to the added story bit really pushes FlygonHG above and beyond other Nuzlockers. It kind of reminds me of the early-'10s era of comic Nuzlockes but with the added bonus of getting to see all of the strategic thinking and planning that goes into a successful run.
This sent me back to my days of reading nuzlocke comics on deviantart. The protag always had some dark backstory they had to overcome and I loved seeing it here, depicted in game! You always have such a knack for story-telling and it was so much fun to watch you be so creative with challenges. Really a step above!
I don't normally comment, but the storytelling, battle style, narrative, and that epic final battle felt straight out of the show. I felt a genuine character and attachment to freaking 64 bit sprites. Phenomenal run, and my favourite of all your runs so far, fitting that it should be on my all time favourite Pokemon game.
The speech about found family hit me waaaay too fucking hard, it hit super close to home. I had to pause afterwards and make sure I wasn’t crying. On top of an incredible run with amazing quality editing, your storytelling has really gone onto another level. Cheers, FlygonHG. You really are one of the greatest on the platform.
I think I realized why I love Flygon's videos, he brings back the story element of the nuzlockes that other youtubers don't have, the purpose of the nuzlocke is to form connections with your pokemon, that's why the nicknaming rule exists, to feel sad by their deaths. That magic has been lost through countless challenge runs but Flygon makes us care for these pokemon and brings emotions through his writing.
I would LOVE to see a Soullocke in this style, maybe even in Platinum, with one person playing as a Team Galactic member and the other playing as a rival Team Rocket member (only using TR-appropriate Pokémon). This was a lot of fun!
02:18 I reckon the mascots for Teams Aqua & Magma were chosen solely based on their Typings. Team Magma's volcanic theme is associated with 2 Type [Fire & Ground], while Team Aqua's water theme is associated with only 1 Type [Water], so the Dark Type complements the fact that it's an Evil Team (who's also somewhat more sinister than Team Aqua).
What separates you from other nuzlocke challenge youtubers is your amazing storytelling and the incredible amount of emotion you manage to get into each video. Its genuinely astonishing. Also day 2 of requesting pokemon BW2 hard-core nuzlocke with no STAB moves allowed
This one is really next level with the storytelling and animations. I did laugh out loud when the heartfelt speech about Tabitha immediately cut to her exploding.
Thank you for your amazing stories. This is a beautiful story that is really resonant with a lot of people, being mad at your parents for not being perfect but realizing that they loved you and they did their best. A great lesson in an amazing story you tell
Content creation is your BLESSING!! A heart wrenching story that I personally connected with on such a deep level, that had me crying. Constant but conservative humor, both visually and verbally. Plot twists, expectation subversion, the Wailord gag, everything about this video and your content in general is PEAK
There are so many things I love about this video. The storytelling. The art. The fact that wailord was massive on the overlay. An absolute masterpiece. Thanks flygon for always giving us the best content that we could ever ask for!
The challenge runs themselves are great. But the writing is truly something else. Some of the best content out there. But it's going to be really hard for any challenge to be better than Spheal Team Six. That, in my opinion, was the best one ever.
Yknow, I didn't think I'd see the most accurate depiction of what it feels like to be adopted since birth in all of media today, but I'm really glad I did! Thanks, Mr. HG!
As an adopted child myself, I won't deny that this one had me in tears. Also I know it was unplanned, but I found it poetic that the survivors were the two starters, and the one Pokemon both teams share that evolves through friendship.
You do NOT have to go so hard on these, i come here for funny nuzlockes not to be crushed by the feelings of a novelist who had the bright idea to end of one of their characters. But aside from that, a great video as always Mr. Dr. OneballHG
I hate when flygonhg makes me cry with a fictional story he completely made up. good work as always, you're great storyteller and a great trainer as well.
The Wailord Vs Wailord duel is the best thing to come out of this channel! I honestly want to actually see how they were fighting with those water spouts in the battlefield.
Jeez the emotional whiplash from the realisation of a chosen family being more important than a biological one, to the Juan fight :D I will never recover
I loved this? I love your story based nuzlockes the most of all, since the initial nuzlocke was a story based comic. I especially loved how instead of the journey culminating in finding your birth parents, you abandoned that line, accepted the family you had and the friends you’d made, and became champion for them.
"I bring in Tabitha, the shyest of our teammates, but their silence shouldn't be mistaked for indifference. If anything they care most of all" Oh that sounds a bit like me... I sure hope they get to surviv- Oh. Yep, it definitely checks out
YEAH! This is what I’m talking about! This is the kind of narrative nuzlocke I’ve been missing for so long! The Pokémon each feel like they matter more and the story beats get more time. I was particularly happy to see a story scene completely removed from the game’s story. I’m not sure how feasible it would be in your current format, but I would love to see a narrative run broken into multiple parts so more time can be spent building character for each of the teammates, though I imagine it would take a fair bit of commissioned art to pull it off. Either way, keep up the great work! I’m happy to see you continuing to develop your style!
Flygon is the first person to blend the storytelling of the old school nuzlocke comics with the technicality of the hardcore nuzlocke challenge run. Dude will go down as a true legend of the nuzlocke community
This was such a sweet story. I appreciate the hell out of your effort flygon. This elevated a simple nuzlocke into a wonderful tale that made me feel things. Well done.
Real talk, if any other nuzlocker made this video it would’ve felt like a boring/uninspired nuzlocke but your personality and video style seriously elevates these videos! Much love dude you never disappoint
I'm pleasantly surprised that you know about Blaise and Amber. I love the Ruby and Sapphire manga so the mention of them made me happy. Great storytelling as always!
it's a pokemon video. it was not supposed to make me cry. also I usually listen to these in the background while I do something else but happened to look over and see the giant Wailord on the team section and it made me laugh. thank you for your creativity and dedication
Yessss I loved this!!! The storytelling is always so bomb in these! I also really loved the grunt team idea! Hoping you continue the grunt team nuzlockes with future games too! Keep it up man you're killing it!
Me hearing A Year Ago's instrumental makes me cry cause it just reminds me how far I've come as a person. That and I love the song and NEFFEX in general. An excellent choice of music, Dr. HG.
So if im understanding the lore, FlygonHG was an orphan, found his bio dad, learned that adopted parents can be cool, saved the world, became champ. Then he went off to work for the government. then Maxie and Archie tried to end the world again leading to him going off with the Spheal team six. Thats the most comprehensible thing i can come up with. Maybe next time the "lore run" wont be in Hoenn. Will definitely make the timeline less weird.
Bro....I was adopted at 6 months old. I'm 33 now. Took years for me to realize that's it's who was there not who was not that matters. And you sum it up in a nuzlocke video right before the holidays. I hope you see this and know that you did something very special. Thank you

I think those ones are in unova. At times unova feels less like New York and more like australia with all those ex criminals.
Matti: How big should I make Wailord on the overlay?
Also Matti: Yes
The wailord got a really good laugh out of me
Man seeing the size of the wailord was hilarious!
Oh no, Claydol is being squished by 🐳, somebody help it.
And I love that every single time xD
I was reading comments and missed the capture of wailmer and the evolution to Wailord.

Nuzlockes initially started out as people making stories out of their playthroughs, and tbh I wish there are more of these

Any Pokémon is food if you're hungry enough 🤷♂
Also arboliva, garganacl and scovillain!
Slopoke..
It'd be incredibly fitting given the game it's. He'll feed his mons sandwiches, even the ones that contain Klawf's claws.
I thought Maxie and Archie were the parents at first due to the background picture while he talked about the parents and was like "yeah checks out"
Same honestly
Tbh they hate each other almost too much, very homoerotic
Archie is a trans masc icon, he transitioned a year after Mattie was born
OLD MAN YAOI LETS GOOOOOOO
Ftm Archie or Maxie both valid and based
Ftm stands for Female to Mastermind (we need more waaaaaterrrrrrrr) btw
Trans masc nation lets gooooooooo!!!
always love these story-based nuzlockes...the part with the parental realization had me tearing up 🥺
It's crazy how he's able to put stakes in these silly little adventures on constant. Respect to his thought provoking storytelling.

Missed opportunity to write in the script that Steven "Doesn't know how lucky he has it... I hope he doesn't take that for granite."
Dr j G nfjdhdhdhshhs😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This one is up there with Spheal Team 6. Its amazing how you can adapt the same games narratives in so many ways to keep it engaging over and over

bro i laughed harder than i should of.
Kudos to Courtney the mightyena. Probably one of the strongest first route dark types around!
I don't know, I think it has some pretty strong competition. From... Purrloin (and maybe alolan Rattata, alolan meowth, galarian zigzagoon)
@@owenaspinall2046 Purrloin/ Liepard isn't a contender it's frail and can't use it's speed all that well because it doesn't hit hard

The wailord being 10x bigger than your other pokemon in the team screen is hella funny. Had me laughing out loud
yeah me too XD
Dude, we all know your Nuzlocking skills, but I think it’s your storytelling that’s the real hero here. Narration on point. Love these sorts of vids.
It is already funny that Blaise, of all the team members, died to a Slugma, and it became even funnier that the first two deaths happened to be Adventures-exclusive admins lmao
I love the implication that while studying abroad in Sinnoh, Nosey evolved in to Proboby. This lore is insane.
1 minute in and I'm already invested, this storytelling is just the best Dr. HG

This was such a sweet story. I appreciate the hell out of your effort flygon. This elevated a simple nuzlocke into a wonderful tale that made me feel things. Well done.
I love the ideas you're able to come up with for challenges
Real talk, if any other nuzlocker made this video it would’ve felt like a boring/uninspired nuzlocke but your personality and video style seriously elevates these videos! Much love dude you never disappoint
Flygon never misses with his storytelling. You're seriously a master at this style.
This man is just writing author insert fanfiction and I'm here for it. It's like the Pokemon version of Dante's Divine Comedy
Had to hold back from crying three times. Flygon and these story nuzlockes always get me.
Champion "Wattson" "Juan" Wallace. What a great video!! Love the narrative elements!
I come for the challenge nuzlockes, stay for the heart-wrenching feels.
I'm not crying, it's the onion I cut at the same time...
nuzlocke skills aside your biggest talent is your writing skills, please continue to make narrative focused videos like this, they're incredibly good
genuinely i love your videos for a lot of reasons. the storytelling is always great, but in this one? its PHENOMENAL. i was so invested
Bro these stories keep getting better and better. The champion fight legit had me crying. Keep up the work man!
i love your scriptwriting for these flygon, its so fun
The video is emotional and all, but goddamn, Carvanha/Sharpedo was GOAted and carried the run.
Yessss I loved this!!! The storytelling is always so bomb in these! I also really loved the grunt team idea! Hoping you continue the grunt team nuzlockes with future games too! Keep it up man you're killing it!
I'm all in on the gripping developments in the Daddy Stone saga.
Best running gag ever
The story was heartwarming!
And, seeing Mightyena AND Claydol doing WORK is a treat 💜
Bro....I was adopted at 6 months old.
I'm 33 now.
Took years for me to realize that's it's who was there not who was not that matters.
And you sum it up in a nuzlocke video right before the holidays.
I hope you see this and know that you did something very special. Thank you
