It's heartbreaking to think about the history of the Indigenous peoples and the injustices they faced. What do you think could have been done differently to prevent such tragedies? Do you believe history has taught us enough to avoid repeating these mistakes?
My Great Grandmother was a Residential school survivor. She moved away from her reserve (Golden Lake, On) to a small town to have children and she did not register to save them from having to go to "that school.' She died in 1942 and my Grandmother and her siblings were never registered until the 80's, long after their mother had passed. They knew nothing of who they were or where they came from.
To all my native indigenous brothers and sisters. We all shared the same pain and strength. But our ancestors would want all of us for our voices and stories to be told of the truth. Keep up your strength indigenous spiritually. A’ho 🪶

It’s interesting how Epictetus encourages appearing clueless or stupid in discussions, which might sound counterintuitive at first. This approach can create space to absorb and process information without immediately reacting, which often leads to more thoughtful responses. Have you ever tried taking a moment of silence in a heated conversation to reflect before responding? What do you think might change in a discussion if we allowed ourselves to do this more often?
As a Catholic, I'm devastated to learn that Church orders were involved with this sinful enterprise that caused so much hurt and death. How they failed to follow the churches teachings of Love your Neighbour as yourself in respecting the cultural traditions of others that were not sinful. Of making respecting the fact each child had a mother and a father to raise them as planned by God. By the Grace of God I echo His Holiness Pope Francis in saying I'm deeply sorry for the pain and suffering caused in Christs name. And that these schools should not have happened. And it has taken so long for the church to acknowledge these sins that were committed.
I’m so proud to see that even after all they endured they kept hold of who they truly are. I’m sure many just gave in. I sure I wouldn’t have been so strong.
Makes me angry how the kids are forced to give up their native language. Your language is part of your culture and heritage. Just like the Welsh, Irish, Cornish, Cumbrians and Scots had their languages suppressed for centuries to the point where today most of them don't speak them at all. Very sad.
It's happening still today in the schools with WOKE ideas. Instead of teaching them math, science. they are pushing trans and other communistic ideas into the children. It's the same thing.
Just to note: this film is titled “We Were Children”. It was released in 2012 by the National Film Board of Canada. It was directed by Tim Wolochatiuk.
I don't know why it all took so long for anyone deal with it properly, but I guess that's not very smart, When all the People in charge where supposed to be looking out for there we'll being off Better lives and education for all these children that had to be Civilized, OMG, and to think soo many knew " nothing " about. I don't think there could ever be be enough said or done or paid to replace all loss the pain the broken family's thr loss of generations. So sorry 🙏
These people weaponised their own ideology with Christianity for their aim to assimilate and control the masses of people. That is not what the real Christianity is. Islam is completely different. It has no place for the Western world.
This and other atrocities committed by our Masters on indigenous peoples worldwide in their own lands has built up enormous collective karma that is now being inflicted on the native white working class of Britain. It plays out in the whole enforced white guilt, forced multiculturalism, discrimination in the job market, being called racist for being proud of your heritage. All because of the greed of the top 1%. Thanks a bunch.

@gafak47 yes, quoting a well known racist on a video that's about erasing indigenous peoples, not exactly wise.
@ exactly!
I am sorry to my indigenous neighbours across Canada. 🇨🇦 may you all heal and cherish the memories of your innocent ones.

Disgusting and shameful part of our history. My heart aches whenever I am reminded of this tragedy.
No one deserves to have to go through this cultural genocide, I'm so sorry for everyone who suffered through this.
This was very sad to watch. I pray healing for all the victims.

I'm from the states and the sad part is the Canadian government modeled😢 these indigenous boarding schools on what we did here in the states.

How Can British Empire Still Be In Control 2024
How the Christians were so Christian then..and we criticise Islam.

We were all once children some loved unconditional with care others who suffered from at times from corrections then others who were only abused
Just watch "Unrepentant" 🙏🌹
😢Why?
Needed land to colonize and the children need reprogramming to conform to the new society that was put in place.
