I was not aware that you could sort a data set by selecting sort on a cell within an unselected data set so that your data records stay together and not sort one column in isolation of the other columns in the data set (which is a nightmare!). More often than sorting by anything other than sorting by values, I sort left to right. This helps a lot when the data is retrieved in a different column order than the workbook where I am working has.

Hi Leila.. thanks for the excellent video on sorting. I've always used the helper column trick to get back to my original order. All it takes is to forget that once and you'll never forget it again in the future.. haha!! I have not used Custom Sort or Custom List much.. but can see by your examples what I have been missing. Very useful video. I recommend ALT+D+S key board short cut for sorting as its quick. Further excel has one more very excellent feature of sorting from left to right or right to left (horizontal sort / column sort); which I myself started using very recently due to some specific business needs. And believe me, it has saved me lots of efforts. Thanks Leila for upload :) Cheers..

Hi Leila, thanks for your great tutorials. Concerning sorting, when I sorted a field with Z to A or Hi to Lo, the data displayed on the filter pull down menu is always A to Z or Lo to Hi regardless how the field is sorted. Would it be possible to show the display according how it was sorted? Than means if the field is sorted Z to A or Hi to Lo, the list will be shown the highest value first when the filter pull down menu is clicked.
