You seem to have calibrated everything except the FX773 ! There is a calibration menu to fine tune the FX773. It would then mirror the output from your fine-tuned test equipment

IMHO the FX773 screens are far too cluttered with rarely needed infos. Bigger fonts are certainly needed - even if some information must be omitted. The only other option would be to output the screen information to a big computer monitor. However, even if the readability is fixed, unstable and incorrect readings do NOT inspire any confidence in the meter's accuracy.

    • @TRXLab

While I understand the genuine negative feedback, this should go to the vendor. Give them an opportunity to correct. If they don't show interest in correcting then sure, give them a public wrap. This looks like a very featured unit with great ideas. Just needs to get the accuracy right. Once they do this will be a far better meter than most.

Given that I had difficulty understanding the video in English, in any case the "following problems" emerged, and I'll try to answer point to point:
    - Small fonts (dBm table menu)
answer: the fonts of the numerical values are large, only the
descriptions are small (compatibly with the size of the 5 "display)
    - Voltmeter with 13.1V / 13.3V variation
answer: a variation of 0.3V I do not find a problem and in any case
in the tolerance of the instrument.
    - Frequency meter with about 50 / 70Hz error
answer: the FX773 does not have an internal thermostated quartz
and the accuracy is in line with the tolerance of the instrument.

    - Measure power with error about 1.8 / 2 Watt on 3kW full scale
response: improved with new calibration from the user menu.
    - SWR measurement 1: 1.11 / 1: 1.12 / 1: 1.13
answer: the measurements are in real time, no average is applied,
and in any case it is negligible as an error.
The price range of the Wattmeter is around 300 / 350usd + Vat. Making a comparison with LP500 / R & S (cost about 1200usd + vat) is like comparing apples to pears. In any case I am attaching a video with FX773 versus LP500. The measures are equal to 1/3 of the price.
Compared to Peter's review and the judgment of the comments, my company is committed to improving the product with new firmware updates.
    I'll treasure the suggestions.

Why is the power reading so much fluctuating and why is it not possible to reproduce the reading with the next PTT if anything else don't change? Hi Peter, I told a lot of time to Antonio that some fonts are too little for this nice big display… at the beginning they were smaller than latest firmware, the units i sold to my customers worked well, they are stable in reading swr and watt, the factory tuning is not the best but it’s very simple to adjust yourself and compare to your r&s, my advice is to contact Antonio about the issues you found, he will send the new one i think it’s defective, last period for Antonio was bad, he stayed in hospital. However the comparison with LP-500 it’s not honest because it cost more than double here in Europe, (the FX773 price with 3kw coupler and italian vat included is about 430€) so the comparison with laboratory instruments, its target is amateur hobbyists use, like could be a daiwa cn-901….

Watching this video I became more and more convinced that something was very wrong with the design of this unit so I watched another video featuring it. The other unit exhibited the same issues. Not only was the incoming voltage reading fluctuating but also other information on the screen. In the other review the reported temperature varied by over 10c during a 10 minute review. It behaves as though an internal reference voltage is unstable. Unfortunately this is not a prototype, the FX773 is available from a number of outlets here in the UK.
It is quite disturbing to see such a poor product being sold and it begs the question why no-one seems to have noticed that it cannot measure any parameter with reasonable accuracy.
Peter in your video at least the unit displayed the correct date, I suspect that was the only correct information on the entire display. If a manufacturer cannot spot such glaring defects in their products it is probably a relief that they don't make cars or parachutes....

Hello all hams.I think this test by peter is a little unfair.First of all you can not compare a swr meter with lab equipent worth 100 thosends and second he did not show how you connected the unit to a computer screen yes most hams today have a computer for logging and other software. And third he did nor show you the page in the meter were you can calibrate swr voltage freq mm so that is why i think itis litte unfar.

Lennart I don't agree as I have not compared it with lab equipment. I used the R&S for reference to have something accurate to be able to build a up a valid statement. We all know that it would be unfair trying to compare lab equipment with amateur stuff. That was never meant

Seems like a piece of rubbish. And, by the way, "anyway" is always singular.
