I went to Hastings Boy, and our level of playing has only recently reached the peak of New Zealand rugby. Hamilton has been up at the top for many years. I would go as far to day they are a school built on and for rugby. Other schools in the south island or Auckland also have intensively run programs used to target up and coming players

My high school rugby team in auckland full of drinkers smokers and dudes who mucked around played against a 1A school pretty much the premier high school rugby comp in AKL, we beat them, they had fitness skill speed, but we had heart and just pure physical toughness
