Some other interesting analysis I found on the First Fleet page: There is initially only 7 arrows on the flag and by the end of the graphic novel, there are 8 arrows, showing how they've successfully expanded and colonised Australia. However, one the first iteration on the flag (First Fleet page), you can see a blacked out arrow tip, which foreshadows their dominance over their Australian land, and also shows their goal of expanding out even further.
