I have never been to the Moody mansion. Crime in Galveston and the corruption in the PD has kept me away. But, one day, I hope to visit it

In this day and age, as celebratory as this is, it would be more meaningful to include a fuller history of people of color and how they have overcome so much as part of Galveston history. The truth is, Moody and all whites had a tremendous advantage in keeping an entire people down so there was a lot less competition then there might have been. It's not all a positive story, but exposing the ugly underside is a path to healing and creating better pathways for all of us in the future.

Actually, no. In this day an age there is a cult like obsession with race. There's an abundance of information you're seeking. A video like this is a breath of fresh air - no obsession with race or mention of it at all.

The guy that posted this is a creep. He has a double life. He abandoned his first family in Ohio (with children), made them think he committed suicide, and started over in Galveston. He’s also a thief that stole from his job and left them with the financial mess. When it caught up with him years later, he essentially got off, doing a short prison term and resuming in new life like nothing happened. His new friends actually felt sorry for him. Pretty messed up stuff. Watch the movie Familiar Stranger and look up the names Patrick Welsh & Tim Kingsbury.

OMG this is the worst Galveston history and the most false! Not knocking the person who posted, but this is just absolutely absurd how false the history is

Go ahead and knock on the guy that posted this. Do you know who he is?
Watch the movie Familiar Stranger. He stole from his job, abandoned his wife and kids, left them with a financial mess, made his family think he committed suicide, and started a new life. When it all caught back up with him, his new friends actually felt sorry for him! He went to prison for a short time and resumed his new life without recourse once he got out. Essentially, he got off. Really messed up stuff. Total creep.

@@Noone9227 good catch I just watched that movie the other day as a father of 4 daughters no matter how bad my life sucked I could never leave them thinking I was dead. I wonder if he even sees how screwed up it is to do that
