Lovely shave Johan. I remember opening my Vetyver for the first time, and it was overwhelming. It has calmed a bit, but I do love it. The Rose is lovely, too nice powdery and delicate. Have a great week. Very best regards Gordon 👍
Great video, Johan, as always. I won’t use all the shaving soaps I have now in this lifetime, but I recently pulled the trigger on the MdC Original scent in travel size. I also bought three of the envelope samples: Argumes, Vetiver, and Fougere. The scent of the Original is primarily lavender, and although I’m not a huge fan of lavender, this is subdued. I quite like it. I’ve tried the sample of Argumes, and it didn’t seem to have much citrus scent to me-but I’m getting over a cold, so maybe that’s the reason. Am having a glass of wine as I write this and contemplating my next shave. Maybe I’ll break into the envelope of Vetiver. And I’m thinking about the choice of razor. I have an original Weck carbon steel blade that I’ve been shaving with, maintaining it with stropping and honing, and I want to see how many times I can shave with it until I absolutely have to throw it away. I’m up to nine shaves and have had to pass it over the finishing stone only once-but I strop it 50 laps before every shave. It shaves well-not nearly as well as the Kismet, but considering this disposable blade is probably close to a hundred years old, it shaves very well indeed. By “Swedish tobacco” do you mean snuss? I chewed a bit of whole-leaf tobacco as a kid, but I don’t think I’ve ever tried pouch tobacco-though it’s very popular in the states. I’ve never smoked cigarettes, but I have been an occasional cigar smoker since my teens. In my later years I’ve taken up smoking a pipe. I work in healthcare, so I’d probably get fired for saying this, but nicotine is probably much less harmful than many of the additives that go into cigarettes. With quality cigars and pipe tobacco, there are no additives. I’m not saying that smoking cigars and pipes is healthy, but they’re probably a “better” bad choice. Interestingly, nicotine is very similar in chemical structure to tricyclic antidepressants, which may be why people claim that smoking relaxes them. Looking forward to your next video.
Sorry about the belated reply. Thanks for a lovely comment. I know some strop their blades (Kismet typically), but you are the first one that I hear from who actually hone it. Very interesting. Yes I am using snus on and off (usually on) since I was 15. It's the good stuff. I did not know nicotine has similarities in structure to some antidepressants. Thanks!
You've just cheered up my windy and boring evening Johan 😂. Love your jokes and delivery 🎉 beautiful Ti 😊. Great lather and shave ! Pity utube has no smell o-vision . What's Swedish chewing tobacco, a new sin I need to try ? 😊. ( my sins are mostly shaving and honing ).
Even though MDC is very efficient soap with nice lather and scents, I find it hard to justify the price for a standard recipe soap. Great shave though 👌🤠👌
That joke has put you on a really slippery slope! MdC has Agrum(citrus), Natural (unscented), Vetyver, Original (Lavender), Fougere, and Rose, priced at between €55 and €58 per 200g (+freight and any local import taxes, VAT/sales tax); smsller sizes are available.
Now I'm in the mood for a glass of wine and a hot shave 🍷 great video
