PS. Jimmy is one of favorite Bass players. I met and talked to Allan many times about his Bass players. Jimmy was one of his favorites. I only wish I had the chance to perform with them before Allan's passing. God Bless!🙏💕😎
Typically you can't get Jimmy Johnson to react other than to hear his playing.. it is darned funny to see him at the beginning! : ) Thumbs up Jimmy! : )
I am so pissed I missed this show I live an hour north did not even hear hide nor hare of this. Advertise people please ! glad it was shot and with great audio thank you very much for that. Alan is amazing as are all his bands... Jimmy was so kind to me last time So mad I missed this show dammit.
Allan is my FAVORITE by far. Very sad that there won't be any new material. But lookit all them UD stomps! He was also an equipment and recording genius.
RIP Mr Allan the best music for me for all my live! and off course bass lines from Mr Johnnson incredible, I felt to much "songo or samba tipe of groove" in to the drummer´s playing, maybe I´m wrong or just love other direction in the aproach

What a fantastic show. In spite of numerous audience members wielding iphones like lanterns and using flash photography, it was incredible. Dallas audiences suck. What technique. Notice he only picks once for every 3-4 notes.

They are. Its just that my point was, how to get death metal musicians (especially the percussion section) still able to perform their stuff when they hit 40 and get around the law of the nature. Maybe drift into something more 'technical' rather than 'hip' as they go gray.
There are alot of guitar players that copy Allan ..99.9% of them lack that organic sound and energy he had...a huge loss to the music world... Rob Tullius
most death metal musicians (nile for example) are pretty close to their 40, i dont think your post helps at all, you cant play fusion drums to a death metal song, you cant play death metal drums to a fusion song, who says any style is better? just because its more technical it doesnt mean anything, it couldbe pure technique and no expresiveness... thats why i only listen to allan, he is pure expresiveness
What could have become of this group. Holdsworth made the disastrous decision to contract Donati. But his career was a forgone conclusion at this point
Technically a great drummer but lacking knowledge in dynamics! Musicality, playing the essence of the composition is important. You don't have to play everything you've ever learned in a solo. Composition in a solo is more important. The drums were too loud in general. If you're trying to prove something your heart is in the wrong place!💕🙏😎
Nah. This aint it. especially if you research the artists Ron has played for. Also back to this clip, if he lacked knowledge in dynamics he wouldnt be playing in a lower volume during Jimmy’s solo...so your point?
People forget that Dennis Chambers played for Holdsworth. You can hear the influence on Ronald. He is paying homage to Dennis while maintaining his own style. Jealousy makes people say rude things about Ronald's musicianship. He was selected for a reason.
I’m at a loss for words with this drummer. Absolutely terrifying work from big boy. What a player
There a 7 billion people on the planet, but NO ONE ELSE ever played like Allan. He was an absolutely unique genius!
jimmy johnson one the underrated greats on bass...
How is he underrated? He is well respected.
He was some kind of visitor from another dimension....
So unique
So incredible
Love the bassist! Hes been playing with holdsworth for a loooong time.
Wonderful comping by the Master.
I really like this rhythm section with Holdsworth!
Ronald Brunner Jr. is amazing on the drums! Love the solo!

I'm damn glad you recorded this performance. Band is hot and Jimmy is showing what a great and mature badass he is - technique, feel & tone - wow
I have never seen another bassist so tastefully mix in odd groupings into his basslines and blowing so often. Jimmy Johnson!
.Thanks for posting this..."Letters of Marque"...complete with a Holdsworth string break and a lovely solo from Jimmy Johnson. Nice.
It was not a string break but his boost pedal missing.
I live 2 hours away from dallas! Cant believe i missed this!

Geez, ok we all know that Ron's single stroke roll are insane, but man, his right foot is out of this world to, damn !!! :o

so many great moments there
He usually use either an old TC booster eq, or a Custom audio electronic booster / line driver to boost his humbuckers that are weak, about 7.5 Kohms!
The fact that this guitar god died poor and could not even finance his own funeral speaks volume to peoples stupidity and lack of musicality.
That's ridiculously sad
Neither could Mozart.
Jimmy is a BASSGOD.
Untouchable...
I knew I should have practiced more.

@csidorf
'cause it's a different method of playing.
Live and let live.
4:00~ww
allan should have had some of the cali guitar players put about 20-30 mill in an account for him ..... wtf
Why cant death metal drummers have a lesson from this sick drumming instead of just rattling the snare and bass to the finish line?
Can someone please explain something to me?
In the very end, two people hand drinks to Ronald, was that the patrons' way of complimenting his playing?
probably
@Samsgarden yet this guy created a jet crash impact death metal has always been doing
The bassist is outdoing the guitarist!

why cant you accept that they are 2 different gnres of music and that this kind of drumming probably wouldnt fit into a death metal song?
Damn! I think Brunner fits Holdsworth's music better than all the others!
Each to their own I guess, but I found this drummer to be highly unsympathetic to Allan's music.
@@EgoShredder Watching Bruner play with Holdsworth is *painful.*
