Japanese immigrants came to Brazil 100 years ago to work on coffee plantations in the south and rubber trees / black pepper up the North. Temaki (specially combining salmon and cream cheese) and the Kaipiroska (fruits + sake) are a few examples of an interesting fusion cuisine that originated in Brazil!

I have never had any safety issues in Rio or the rest of Brazil and never been robbed etc. But don’t take unnecessary risks at night, don’t get too drunk and leave expensive watches or jewelry home if you’re going to town 👌
Thinking about booking a solo trip to Rio in a few weeks. I don’t speak Portuguese or Spanish. Think I will be okay or will the language barrier be too problematic? Thanks!
I’ve met plenty of people in Rio who were in the same position as you. Don’t worry! A good attitude and cheer will get you farther in Brazil than any language studies.💪
The only problem with watching all of your videos is that when I go down there next week and I'm walking around the streets I'm going to wonder where my soundtrack is.

Yes, Rio is STILL awesome! No quarantine flying in from Europe, just a PCR test at the airport. Still not allowed to enter from the UK though. Sad and unlogical.

Because of carnival I had tonbook two different hotels. Copa Sul, which I can very much recommend and Hotel Atlantico Copacabana … which I can’t really recommend 😅
Why is there more Lebanese in Rio than in Lebanon? We had bad experience with taxi drivers, then they take tourists to m8s bar and charge extortionate prices, pay up or else. Personal experience. 👍
I’m usually not big on car rental even in countries suited for it. But for Brazil I would definately discourage it … although not really knowing about the options
