- Key figures associated with 2009's "Miracle on the Hudson" (Captain C.B. "Sully" Sullenberger, Captain Jeffrey Skiles, Barry Leonard, Pam Seagle, Dr. Hilda Roque-Dieguez, Katie Couric, Allyn Stewart) gather on January 11, 2024 with moderator Kate Baldwin to reflect on the event. Topics include: Sullenberger's analysis of the incident and changes in aviation that have occurred in the last 15 years; how Couric got the first sit-down interview with Sullenberger about landing the plane in the Hudson River and overseeing the safe evacuation of all on board; passengers' recollections of the harrowing time between the plane losing power and landing in the Hudson; panelists' reactions upon learning that Clint Eastwood would direct the film "Sully" with Tom Hanks cast as Sullenberger; and the reasons why the flight's fate continues to resonate with the public in 2024.
So important what Skiles and Sully did to improve Aviation Safety. Thank you!
Great!
God bless the wonderful story and all you great people
I'm a proud Aussie who loves aircraft. This is an awesome experience that I ❤
I have 2 A320 models of the exact plane. N106US
Love you guys
Kudos to Sully!
When that meglodon bit the engine off the plane it helped level the plane out. Luckily, it was a friendly meg.
It is Flight 1549 not 1594
US BSHT!
what is '1594'???
❓ Question: Well I would love to know is what are the other options for landing in a city like New York? I understand Central Park, but what if that was not available? Would they go ahead and try to landed on the road knowing that the wings would be ripped off and they would kill the commuters or is there something else? Because obviously they have to go down somewhere. Or would they just aim for between two buildings, which doesn’t seem realistic, who knows.
But I guess a big part of what I’m wondering is if he thought he only had a 10% chance of making it to the airport will you go ahead and risk that knowing that if they don’t make it to the airport they’re going to hit buildings and there is a 0% chance of living. Or would he try to set it down on a small narrow road that would definitely kill many people but at least it wouldn’t be hitting buildings?
I don't think anyone would ever ever ever consider landing anywhere in NYC where people are. The water was the only choice.
