I watched this a few days ago and forgot to comment. Those are beautiful! I remember in the late 60's there was this craft called "Fantasy Film" I think. You made wire shapes, dipped them in a colored liquid, set them upright to dry, then assemble flowers, butterflies, whatever. I loved doing those. This reminded me of that time when I did that. I SO want to try this. I will have to get the UV light and resin though. But I think it will be so worth it. Oh, and probably add to my bead collection and get a stiffer gauge of wire. Thanks for sharing this. Beautiful!! Love it!!
I was totally remembering that stuff as well, it was like a liquid plastic and smelled horrible, a bit like a thick nail polish. I’m glad that you mentioned that stuff? I agree how fun it would be to make these beautiful dragon flies, they are so many ways you could enhance them. I loved watching this. To the maker, Thank you for giving us this video! ❤️❤️❤️👍🏼
Yes I remember that stuff. It was so much fun. Not as strong, but flexible. .My dad made my mom a very unique pair of 3 D earrings with wire and dipped them. deep orange and magenta. He put them in a paper machete egg thqt he also made and painted, then presentment them to her. Wish someone would bring that stuff back. Light weight too.
@@kimberlydragone6015 it's UV resin and don't yellow. But some have a strong odor. The best I found with low odor is 'Let's Resin' brand. For the light you can use either a UV lamp or a simple nail lamp which is what I use.
@@customMadebyACLD thank you. Most resins yellow. I have two that have turned in both raw and hardened state is why I asked. What is the brand please. thx.
You can make your wire more sturdy by using a jewelry hammer. It'll make the wire slightly flatter and more resistant too. You can use the textured one to give your metal some texture. And it's also a great stress relief 😂😊 Thanks for sharing. These are beautiful 😍
Reminds me if the kits we got back in the 70s. Mostly made flowers by dipping wire loops in jar of stuff. When they dried in to a film we joined several together to form flowers. Also made some dragonflies and leaves. They were fragile and didn't last long These are beautiful and more durable. Thank you for sharing
I immediately remembered making those flowers and remembered the chemical smell of the liquid film. I wonder what it was and what irreparable damage it did to us kids playing with it!
You can use the wires from the wings to make the legs and a light hammering on the wings will harden them. Love these. UV resin has brought these wonderful crafts back to life. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful loved your video... They r awesome... My daughter passed away 2 yrs ago and she loved dragonflies so everytime we see one we say there's Kim Kim. Somehow it helps us so thankyou for this. Hope u have a wonderful day.
I adore dragon flies! The colors are amazing. It looks like you were able to get that shimmer. And glisten , Thank you for sharing with us this process and the art you creat! I may have to get3 some resin and a light to cure it. Eegads another hobby. Ok I may have to find some one to make them for me. These are a delight only to be surpassed by you. You are truly a treasure.
Oh Gi, these are marvellous. I can see quite a few of these in my future, Thank you so much for sharing. Stay safe and keep well. Be blessed always. 💖🥰🌼🤗
I do love them! I wanted to make some for my friend's mom (she loves dragonflies). But having to buy the resin, the resin lamp...all the costs add up. I can't tell you how much art material I've purchased only to use them once. As much as I love art I can't really afford to buy so much material. I'll have to make some of these using fabric scraps, and maybe harden the fabric using decoupage glue or something. I think I can find/borrow some wire and beads from my mom's rosary making kit from church, haha.
J Diction is the best UV I have ever used and I believe I have tried just about every brand there is 🤣. Thanks, I love dragonflies, these are gorgeous and sparklely 💞
I watched your tutorial quite some time ago, and these are so cute!!🤩 I finally got some wire, and tonight I followed along, and started making these as some whimsical Christmas tree ornaments. That are so fun to make and so pretty. Some might say dragonflies aren't Christmas-ish,... But the shiny wire and sparkly wings are beautiful on my whimsical little tree. Thank you for sharing this tutorial!💖 So glad I finally got to make these.😊
I love dragonflies!! For their size, they are mighty killing machines!! Our USAF tries to design the latest fighter jets and military helicopters from the dragonfly!! A drone is the closest thing to a dragonfly in our military fleet!!
Absolutly beautifull 👍👍👍!!!! Congratulations yours works it's incredible 😃! From Pinamar...Argentina follow you ! Thanks...thanks and blessings !🌷🌟🌷🌟🌷🌟🌷🌟🌷🌟🌷🌟💟😙
Great creations! I can see all kinds of uses for these dragonflies!!! Thanks so much for demonstrating how to make them. I will be utilizing these in many of my dreams! I found art too late to have a long time to make them all! "There never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do till you find them.....but you can always admire beauty, and that's what these are! Thanks again! 💚🩷💙
I love these! I've discovered an easier way to coat the wings in resin. Instead of taping the packing tape down with masking tape, just lay it flat and lay the wings on top of the packing tape. Because the packing tape is not forced to lay flat, the wings will stick to it and the tape will bend up with the wings.I hope I've made this clear because it has certainly helped me and hope it will help you too!
Very cute. Ive done these with cloissine wire and less smelly 3d glossy accent or dim. magic...did flowers of nail polish when i was on extended travel w min supplies.
How adorably beautiful. I love dragonflies and butterflies 🦋. These are so dainty and i love the brooch idea,i have always worn brooches for many years. I like your thumb rings, really pretty.😊 How do you attach the brooch pin please?
These are so cute and not at all difficult. My first thought was to add them to potted plants or to bouquets of cut flowers. Then it occurred to me to add them spring or summer wreaths. I will let others chime in on the idea of making sure all wire ends are filed down or tucked in securely, then covering the body with resin so they could be used as hair adornments.
Just caught this video. This is fantastic. I love this technique and product. Can't wait to make these and it's giving me other ideas too. Look forward to seeing your other videos and subscribed to keep current. Thank you and blessings. 🤗🦋
I really like the dragon fly demo. I worry your are not wearing gloves or a mask. I didn't know I was suppose to use them when I started using resin not to mention the smell. I got thinking of I got resin in my eye and was close to the UV light, it could really damage your eyes. Maybe even smelling the resin I worry it will cure in my lungs and do that too. Please take precautions. Keep up the videos 😀
I love these! When I was just a young girl in the 1960s I tried to do this with clear nail polish. Worked great(if memory is correct) but it sure took a lot longer to dry and cure! Thank you for your lovely ideas.
So Stunning!!!🎉 I absolutely love these. I am definitely going to try making some. I have always loved dragonflies. They are like a cross between precious gems 💎 and butterflies.🦋
Thank you so much Gi for getting me started with UV resin. I've had the resin for 3 years, but wasn't sure how to start using it. Since you started using it, and showing how to make beautiful things step by step, in very easy tutorials, I have had the courage to start using it at last!!! It's all thanks to you, because you are a great tutor. I love these beautiful dragonflies, and can't wait to give them a go. I love the colours of yours, especially the blue and green. Thank you again. Take care, xx
Beautiful…. My resin and lamp arrived the day before I left for vacation…can’t wait to get back home to try this out. Thank you for sharing the process…
