I’ve visited the Stanford campus when I was briefly living in the Bay Area, and it was just fucking surreal. So big so rich so extravagant. And all I ever heard in Silicon Valley was how smart people who came out of Stanford were. Your channel has been very refreshing
Also lived in Roble 1C freshman year and the only redeeming factor was that we were the closest to Lag Late Nite. Also my roommate left ice cream with a "do not eat" sign in the kitchenette freezer one time, but we came back and opened it to see that someone had taken a huge scoop out of it. Dorms were WILD. Wheezing at all the jokes and appreciate your perspectives! Keep up the great vibes, you're doing amazing!
Btw they converted the two room double in EVGR to two room triple and I don’t know why. People will walk in and clearly see this room is meant for 2 people. luckily, I was able to use my senior priority to secure the single room, so I sleep.
Dude I'm going to UMD college park next year and I wish there was someone like you making videos with tons of insight about your college. I've been super anxious so I've been consuming loads of UMD/rising freshman related content to try and mentally prepare myself to some degree and even though most of the information in this video isnt relevant to me I still watched it all the way through because it was super entertaining, and I again wish I could have your awesome insight to prepare me for life at UMD in august.
I'm a junior and I'm thinking about going to that same college when I graduate. Hopefully by then there will be someone like this guy making videos about UMD College Park 🙏🙏🙏
I visited College Park for a “club field trip“ one year and the campus is… Let’s just say College Park is literally its own town. It’s in College Park, Maryland after all, lol. If you’re able, go to College Park one weekend and really absorb the entire campus. Talk to students, talk to the locals, and just get a real FEEL for the place. Make sure you don’t talk to anyone who’s working for the campus. I’m not talking about administration or faculty, but people who are RAs or grad students. I’m a grad student at another school and we don’t really have time to be taking in the same things that an undergraduate would be taking in. A resident assistant technically works for the university, even though they live in the dorms. People who give those campus tours are also working on behalf of the University so all they’re gonna tell you is all the pros and none of the cons.

Lived in west lag after where those were terrible but I actually really loved the location in terms of distance to classes and scenery (also I had singles so that prob helped). I also think the neighborhoods are lowkey stupid but also the thing that wrecked my social life at Stanford was them severely limited how many people you could choose to live with after frosh year so at least it is kind of meant to address that…? Would be interested in your thoughts

Yeah the Row was super dependent on where you lived and if you picked a co op vs a self op. I lived in Kairos my senior year and loved it. Having the dorm jobs was kinda a pain in the ass initially, but it came to be this good team building thing and a way to get to know basically everyone in the house. My row experience was otherwise limited to visiting people in Roth and Synergy (if that counts as a row house). Kinda steered clear of everything else. But this is a great video man. I graduated in 2020 and you got me feeling hella nostalgic.

I"m a current sophomore who has been living in govco for two years now (my entire time here lol) and everything you said was spot on I couldn't stop laughing (and cyring)
imo I had a V fun time in west lag my freshman year and the community felt more inclusive without the social pressures present in all frosh dorms, but maybe I got lucky with my dorm and friends I made. I also lived on the upper/far row, where I could make my own vibe slightly removed from the lower row's stanford 500/greek energy. I lived in EVGR senior year which was ultimate independence/comfort, which I think only works if u already have friends/don't care to vibe with central campus.
i have a friend who greatly enjoyed west lag, so it def was cool for some people. plus in my ranking im def letting my hatred of roble cloud all of west campus for me lmao. cool to hear your experience and your experiences in those places, thanks for taking the time to comment :) hope u have a sensational day
For any admits that are worried about which dorm they will get, let me offer some corrections to this video 1) Wilbur and Stern are 1 mile away from main quad, Lagunita Court is .3 miles away and a 6 min walk from tressider. His proximity to classes take is simply inaccurate lmao 2) if you cross the street from flomo you will be at the center of Stanford life: Old Union which houses every cultural community center, tressider and white plaza. 3) Lakeside has latenite dining, the dining hall is literally open from 7:30 am to 2:30 am, which is a huge perk. 4) Campus has construction until 2025 so east campus is having some issues getting to class. 5) stern and wilbur have some of the most basic doubles. like genuinely, i had more space at other doubles with a sink in my room lol

honestly i think i would do it - cuz flomo is not as ~"extroverted" vibes~ as stern or wilbur, so you don't need to be hyper-social there. and also flomo is not as socially dead as west lag or govco lol, so i think it'd be a good in-between level of chillness :) congrats on getting into stanford woooooo lmao you're gonna do awesome there!!
howdy, i'm a rising soph that lived in cromem (crothers), who had a lot of friends in SLE. There were a lot of people that more on the "hyper-social" side of personalities, but there are def a lot of really chill people (which were the kinds of people I placed myself around). With SLE, there are two dorms that you can be placed in atm (i think stanford has it incorrect on their website when they say faisan is a sle-dorm) which are alondra (all-frosh) and cardinal (4-class iirc). For the most part, sle kids have a strong bond that keeps them together. Like you guys will bond over the painful quarterly 8-20 page papers and you will be taking classes with the people you live with and talking endlessly about dante's inferno. *regardless of where you live, you'll find people you mesh with; that being said, if you choose sle, you will also be choosing to live in flomo all 4 years (due to the neighborhood system). You can go to a co-op or self-op instead, but the only dorm-style dorm in that neighborhood is flomo (both east and west flo, where flomo dining connects the two together (while wilbur is cut into two neighborhoods); there's a distinct vibe between the two flomos, which i cannot describe because I wasn't at west flo that much, but east flo (where both sle dorms are located) definitely gives big family energy and friend group vibes if that's what you're looking for (there's also a lot of late-night crackhead energy, oops or that might've just been me anyway). CONGRATS ON STANFORD!!! (unrelated, clubs were how I found my close friends and lemme plug my club rq, pls join xtrm if you wanna kpop dance, no experience needed)

You can go to a co-op or self-op instead, but the only dorm-style dorm in that neighborhood is flomo (both east and west flo, where flomo dining connects the two together (while wilbur is cut into two neighborhoods); there's a distinct vibe between the two flomos, which i cannot describe because I wasn't at west flo that much, but east flo (where both sle dorms are located) definitely gives big family energy and friend group vibes if that's what you're looking for (there's also a lot of late-night crackhead energy, oops or that might've just been me anyway).
