  • Great winter day to get outdoors. Had some fun on the river, even found a little gold. Michigan gold is on the small side, the gold used to be in a mountain in Canada, but the glaciers tore the mountain down, grinding it up with the rocks all the way down to southern Indiana and Ohio. Being able to catch this fine gold is a challenge, but if you can get the fine stuff you are ahead of the game when you get to better areas. I have big plans to get to better areas this year! Stay tuned.

    Nice job on the gold. We don’t get rich panning for gold in Michigan, but it’s a fun hobby! I’m in SW Michigan.

      To bad we can’t dredge in Michigan!!!

      @@SilverSleuth It would be nice to be able to sluice too. I know the State makes a lot of money off of trout and salmon fishing, but I don't get it. I have more fish swimming around my feet when I am stirring up the bottom with a shovel, then when casting lures.

      I thought we could sluice in non trout waters? I better double check the regulations. 😬

    • @prospectorpaul1
      @prospectorpaul1  4 года назад +1

      @@SilverSleuth Yup, non-trout waters, but you have to watch for the areas where an endangered clam could be. Not sure where I saw that map, but the areas in yellow where a no go. Pretty sure it was on the MDEQ site, but they changed their name.

    I didn't know there was gold in MI, very cool video! You may be loosing some with such a big screen I'd order a 6 mesh, and a 10 or 12 and after checking a few, settle it straight in. Makes way less work and a better day.

    I don't understand how he can still have all those quarter to half inch gravels when he gets down to the last 2 table spoons of in the pan. He needs to work on that.
