People asking for the location make me laugh, I knew of a location near Blyth in the 60’s, friend asked to go with me and gather thunder eggs. Against my better judgement he came, and yes I believe he must have run an add in the paper telling everyone that could read where the location was 🙄. Last time I went to the site somewhere in the middle 70’s it was covered with left behinds and not a single geode did I find. Didn’t find out until 1998 the fellow owned a rock shop in South Dakota with family.

Hi can you give me a general location to go look for cool rocks near lake pleasant ? I can’t find directions for rockhounding on google ? I would appreciate it

How do you do it!??!! U always find the coolest stuff!!! When I saw the agate I knew right where u were! I’ve been out there Twice now and haven’t been able to find purple. I love the multi colored ones and the blue in the white powder. Is that bentonite clay? Such an amazing place! A lot of activity’s have gone on with the earth there! Wish we could see a glimpse of it millions of years ago! Nice post thx!

When I was a kid back in the mid 70's we used to go up to Stanton on the weekends. My mom knew the owner and there was a caretaker by the name Rattlesnake Bill. We panned for gold, roamed around the old buildings, metal detected, rummaged through the old trash holes in the ground, and once in a while killed a snake.

One more- how do you clean this? I found a bunch but I’ve read- not to use chemicals like muriatic, oxcilic, iron out, on them? What do u suggest the best way to clean off that outer hard clay? And are these pastelite or opal? How can you tell the difference if the opal dosnt have flash?

It’s so incredible out there huh! It seems like it was landscaped when I first come in with all the Joshua trees and large stacked boulders!I had the time of my life rock hounding from the creek on!! Wana go back!! Spend more time out there! It’s amazing! I went out to date creek also on my way home! Kinda cool there also!

I wonder if that moon stuff is bentonite clay? That’s so good to soak in or use as face mask! It pulls heavy metals out of our systems. Moms of autistic kids swear by it- say they started bathing their kids in it and it really helps them with their speech.

I’m going out that way tomorrow! Wish me luck in my agate hunt! 🎉😊
