Heya there! I hope you enjoy this little animatic! When I watched this episode this conversation made me think a lot about Bruno and Abuela since I always thought Bruno deserved a better apology, and this scene summed up pretty much everything I think fits well for a scene where Bruno (genuinely) forgives his mother. But that's just my thought, what do you think? :D
Also- sorry I took so long to upload anything, I've been quite busy with a bigger project that I will finally- FINALLY- soon will be able to tell you about, it's big so it takes a big chunk of my time (plus school and all that).

If you read this far- thanks! i really appreciate it :D i hope ur having an amazing day and remember: forgiveness is a great thing that can bring a lot of peace to yourself, but not everyone deserves it, and that is also okay. Take care everyone!
“To show mercy is not soft. It is a sign of true strength.” Master Splinter (TMNT 2012)
I also like how you had Alma look so distraught and ashamed before and during Bruno vents at/to her
At the end of the day, this is as the last thing she wanted after she lost Pedro was forced to run the Encanto and help run the village
As well as how Bruno was so hesitant to tell his mother how much he hated her
Because at the same time he does still love her
Like when you didn’t show his eyes when he said he hated her but you did when he told her “damn right you’re sorry” and when he tells her he forgives her
Such an underrated animatic. such a surreal conversation between Bruno and Abuela about them negotiating and being honest about trauma from the past 10 years and more, obviously I have a hunger for darker/realistic Bruno content since I didnt think the movie gave me enough. Someone who loves his family, loves his mother, only ever wanted to make her proud but she turned his back on him. it's painful to understand what loving and hating someone at the same time feels like. a man who has spent 10 years being nothing but a fragment of a forgotten soul in everyone's mind deserves so much more than an apology from Abuela, the audio is just a gut punch and fits perfectly. 2:44 , Bruno saying he sees Abuela, one of the undertones both Mirabel and Bruno have is that they were able to see deeper, beyond the surface of people, they were able to see them for who they are, not what they could bring to the table. Bruno could see why abuela was abusive the way she is, and forgave her for it. it's so emotionally touching, every line is flawless and holds weight and meaning.
The fact that they stood in front of the candle while reconciling is just directly referencing Isabela and Mirabel's moment where Mira gains a deeper understanding of Isabela and her pressured life that nobody knows about.
3:25, when he says "can" it flips back to when they were young, young and still unaffected, unknowing of what was to come... Abuela who could've avoided all of this if she just saw..if the villagers just saw... ugh, and the one of my favorite Arcane songs in the back as well..."What Could Have Been" is perfect to describe how this all could've been avoided, yet happened by fate.
I have no problems with this animatic. Solid 10/10.
Thank you so very much for your insight and thANK YOU for noticing these details :')
Small note tho- the ending scene where it switches to young Bruno and young Abuela when Bruno says "anyone can" was actually meant to be symbolic of young Bruno (the Bruno who was lost, the one who was still a "blank page" ready to fill itself but was ruined by everyting that happened) forgiving Alma, but that part where it focuses on young Alma hugging Bruno was intended like- "if I can forgive you, then *anyone* can" saying like- they've all forgiven her, the only one left is herself, if she can forgive herself for all the damage she now sees she's done to her children and their families.
Jzkahskzosf sorry for rambling, i really appreciate your keen eye:'3
I wish we had a moment like this in the movie
It might have made me forgive Alma and let the kids at home know that it’s okay to me mad at someone who hurt you but to not let that hurt dictate your life
I think its a message we all need in our lives. Forgiving can bring us peace, but not everyone deserves to be forgiven, and I was very let down by the way they handled this in the movie. I appreciate your comment, thx for the support:3

This is incredible.. the thought, the suspense, the emotion, it's all very moving. I love how you portrayed this.. the relief of the moment when Bruno lets go almost brought tears to my eyes. Keep doing what you're doing because it's incredible.
;;;;; tysm, this really means a lot!! i havent been able to doing animatics that often cuz college but im so happy u enjoyed this:,3
Damn, right in the feels. This was an amazing animatic,
This somewhat hits close to home ngl (I honestly don't feel comfortable talking about it in the comments) but the line that Bruno says in 2:00 sounds like something I would say. So far this animatic was amazing and I totally agree, Bruno deserves a better apology.
oh man, the emotion in this is _poignant._ amazing work
Holy shit this is soooo good, seriously all your animations just blow me away and this one is no exception! Kudos to the actual actors as well for how well and realistically they portrayed this, seriously it really felt like the actress was breaking down and talking about her abusive past. I can sadly relate, having been abused myself, and a lot of the things she said I feel the same way. And the part where she says "you stole from me, not just who I was but who I could've been!" hits so close to home it's actually kind of uncomfortable and I feel like someone is reading my mind. I do sometimes wonder what life would have been like if not for my abuser. Would I have turned out differently? Would I be better because I'd have a more self-esteem and more confidence, or would I be worse because I would lack empathy for others who went through the same thing? As much as I hate what was done to me and wish I could turn it back, I admit also that my experience with abuse has taught me empathy and kindness. It taught me that I never want to be like my abuser and so I try to have patience with others and not be quick to anger, especially with children. I know what it's like growing up with an adult that is short-tempered. An adult that could sometimes just fly off the handle at any given moment for the littlest of transgressions. I also wonder if perhaps I wouldn't have depression and anxiety if it weren't for my abuser? I know there are other factors at play like genetics and environment and hormones but I wonder if I would still have panic attacks if it weren't for him. They say child abuse physically alters the brain, so is my brain now forever altered and there is no way to undo the damage? I also struggle with forgiveness, because even though I am no longer Christian I was raised in a Christian family, and in Christianity we are taught to always forgive no matter what.
Sorry, didn't mean to go off on a tangent, but this video like I said hits too close to home. Thanks so much for making and sharing this! Again, all your animations are amazing and this one is no exception!
No need to apologize, my friend. I understand where you're coming from- and i am truly sorry that you had to go through something like that. I am sorry if maybe from trigger warnings were needed. I dont really know what to say, just know i really appreciate you being here, and know my DMs are always open if you ever need to vent or a piece of advise from someone who went through the same thing 💖
@@cipherthedisaster Haha, it's alright, it hit close to home but sort of in a good way? Like, it's sort of cathartic having those feelings put into words? Even though I know you didn't make the audio, but the animation along with the audio is incredible and I wouldn't have ever found it without this video.
Thanks so much for your kind words and offer of support. I really appreciate you being here too, and I wanna offer you the same support, if you need somebody to vent to or advice or something. I'm sorry to hear you also went through such a thing, and I hope that we can both gradually heal and move forward from our traumatic pasts.
Mis sentimientos...... no estoy llorando, lo juro
Love the instrumental for What Could Have Been in the background
Imagine if this happened in front of everyone
Actually, in my very first draft of this animatic Bruno gave this speech to his mom during the rebuild of casita, but I felt that having it as something private between them was more meaningful in a way
This deserves way more likes
It's 3:00 AM but it doesn't matter
This is perfect! I loved!
This is powerful. I love your animations!
That's actually a beautiful piece here.
There SHOULD HAVE BEEN a scene like this in the movie. It would have been fitting and made the movie a little better
Love your animatics😘😘

I'm glad they did not include this part in the movie, this is worse than mommy and daddy fighting this would traumatize them.
THIS IS WAS SO GOOD!! 😭💕✨
brunito sad u.u
Jeje, muy chido tu animatic 😊❤️❤️
Gracias Chums :'3
PERO PORQUE ME HACES LLORAR ASI WEI😢
*llora*
I feel sad about Bruno but also about Alma having to hear a son does not love you is terrible😢😭😭💔
Yeah, also Bruno left on his own, she didn't force him out or anything, he chose to leave, he chose to be separated from the family and none of that was Abuela's fault, that's why she assumed that he didn't care about the family DON'T BLAME HER, BLAME HIM INSTEAD besides after their talk HE LEFT ON HIS OWN
Noooo😢😭😭😭
Yo this is so GOOD! Well done! 👍
thank you so much!!! :,)
J'adore, bravo

That’s so good! Very bittersweet
Meanwhile, with Dolores: 😱😭
Alma is crying😢😭
Love it
Abuela stole his hammock 💀
that hammock will haunt us all for the rest of out days
I do have one question, what age was Bruno supposed to be at 3:27? just wanted to know if it was already during a time where abuela was pressurizing her family and she had every right and opportunity to care for her kids and do the right thing, especially Bruno who was ridiculed, hated for a power he never asked for, but yet abuela never did. "what could have been"
He's meant to be around his teens, just when he starts getting the emotional intelligence to realize just how much of a curse his gift actually is and how it has literally tore apart any chance for him to "make himself" since now he'll always be the town's "jinx"
@@cipherthedisaster was it a moment in time, where Abuela had empathy for him, when she hugged him because she genuinely cared about the burden he never asked for that he carried?
Not until a point, where she started getting carried away with trying to "earn the miracle" that pedro gave her, and everyone was too afraid to speak against it.
😢😢
This is terrible😢😢 I do not think Alma hated Bruno or mistreated him I thought the whole town did it but not his family until he left. The Madrigal's problem is lack of communication , not being abusive to others
Alma would mistreat Bruno way before he left. Why do you think he left in the first place? Because it was fun living in the walls with rats? No, because he was being mistreated and misunderstood at home. What does it mean when the movie shows that he saw Mirabel's vision and left "to protect her"? It means that he left to protect her from being mistreated the way he had been because he knew once Alma and the family found out about the vision, they would blame and scapegoat Mirabel just like they had him. He didn't feel safe to show the vision to Alma. When Bruno says, "I'm Bruno and everybody assumes the worst." he is not talking about only the town, he is talking about his mother and his family first and foremost. Also notice the flashback to Alma passing Bruno's door while Bruno is begging for an eye contact or some sort of communication and Alma just ignores him giving him the silent treatment. Why was this flashback put there? What is the movie trying to tell you with that flashback? That Bruno was mistreated by his mother long before he left. Mirabel even puts it into words during her argument with Alma: "Bruno left our family because you only saw the worst in him."
