I saw Paul and Jacqui perform last night at Wembley (2021). I can't believe how much more energetic and confident they are now. All clearly in a much better place in their lives. Seeing the manics tonight! I'm giddy!
I watched this at Easter in I think it was 1996 & have been looking for it online ever since. Jacqui's "Loving Arms" backed up by that fantastic choir, is hauntingly uplifting & continues to give me goosebumps to this day. Lump in the throat as I watched it again last night. Thank you so much for posting this ❤❤❤
I can't believe they actually change the msin line of Bellbottom Tear just because some unknown hack had a pronlem with it. How embarrassing for all of them. And she asked "Is this a famous song such that If I changed the line would anybody notice?!?" Why was it so important for that particular singer to be on the show? She doesn't like the line? Here's 10,000 better singers chomping at the bit for an opportunity to sing that line.
The band (or at least some of them) evidently really like her for some reason. I'm not a fan of her voice myself, and would have preferred to hear someone else sing the original lyric, but it's their song so their prerogative.
Thank you. You give me confidence to come to the stage and new compositions for my groups name I chose to call the beautiful south Signed the composer / Author / lyricist.
I felt a bit bad for him. Singing lead for 36D and South of North America although he did some backing singing. Mind you they should’ve put Song For Whoever and A Little Time in the set. Don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard Dave sing A Little Time with Jacqui, only with original Brianna and 3rd female Alison
For me, the low point in this otherwise outstanding session has to be Iris DeMent's godawful caterwauling and excessive vibrato all over Bell Bottomed Tear. If they had to give her something to ruin, surely they could have gone with a different piece. Preferably an instrumental-only.
'Dont marry her, have me' is a better lyric and 'this is the game that you played' is a shite line...and cringe because we all know what it should be... big shame. Paul has huge guilt issues being male.
It DeMent who insisted on changing the lyric... she considered the original too raw for her Southern US sensibilities, and Paul is a huge fan of hers, so went with it...
@@danielkerryann It's not valid to mention her Southern US sensibilities when she's from the Midwest. That's simply inaccurate and has nothing to do with art. Besides, she's no prude if you know her catalogue.
No he doesn't! It was composed for a woman's voice by me ! Correct he has issues that will Catch up with him this year ! Like +36 years non payment of my royalties. See them in court guys
Great video. Have seen Paul snd Jacqui twice in the last couple of years.... Still superb, pure brilliance ❤

Best thing about this is that all of it is fucking ace.
Brilliant!
Thank you. Paul Heaton is not the composer or author of "the beautiful south" I am !
She can't do justice to such great songs
so natural
They should have included ‘Song For Whoever’ and ‘A Little Time’ in the set
You know your problem... U keep it all in! X
😊
51 been around. Seen them all, BS my no1.

Much better music than today's shit
Thank you ! Signed by the composer / Author
Poor Dave Hemmingway, he's a bit like Stevie Nicks. They wheel him out for a couple of songs and then give him a tambourine

His role is the same as Jacqui Abbott's, Dave has a great voice

Jacqui is better singing Iris's song at 55:54 !!
@@ennesshay5040 Indeed. Jacqui could sing the ingredients list on a box of cornflakes and still leave me agog at her talent.
I wasjust about to ask who the ferk was murdering Bell Bottomed Tear
@@nicolahowden68 Awful isn't it? Warbling and shrieking all over the scale. I don't mind a bit of vibrato occasionally, but not this much.
I thought Iris seemed very nervous. Jacqui is such an underrated talent
That lady cant sing Bell Bottomed Tear - killing my ears
